“Who are these crazy women? Explain it to me clearly!” Orlaith demanded, clutching her swollen cheek, seething with anger. She had never been so humiliated in her life.
Caleb hesitated, unsure how to explain. Before he could speak, Emily interjected, “Caleb is my brother-in-law. My mom and I are here to deal with you, you shameless slut. I suggest you find a single man and stop going after other people’s boyfriends. Acting cheap will only get you dumped!”
Orlaith wasn’t stupid; she quickly understood the situation. These two women were family of Caleb’s fiancee, here to catch him in the act.
To be mistaken for a mistress was deeply embarrassing. “Caleb, explain to them that we have no relationship!” Orlaith yelled at Caleb, furious.
But Caleb, eager to be associated with her, wouldn’t comply. Instead, he wrapped his arm around her waist and said intimately, “Orlaith, I know this is hard on you, but you can’t deny our relationship. I promise I’ll break off my engagement with Victoria and propose to your father.”
“You, you’re talking nonsense! Let go of me!” Orlaith, pale with anger, tried to push him away, but Caleb clung to her like a leech.
This scene was infuriating for Charlotte and Emily. Unable to do anything to Caleb, they directed all their anger at Orlaith.
“Caleb, you want to break off your engagement with my sister for this tramp, how could you treat my sister like this?! You, bitch, I warn you not to seduce my brother-in-law again!” Emily accused, pointing at Orlaith.
Charlotte, who had been silent, intended to let Emily cause a scene to warn Caleb. But hearing that Caleb wanted to end his engagement for this woman made her lose her composure.
“Caleb, what has Victoria done to deserve this from you? She has been loyal and supportive of you for years. How can you abandon her for this woman? Do you have any conscience?” Charlotte cried.
Caleb, irritated by her crying, tightened his grip on Orlaith and said, “Auntie, I’m sorry, but Victoria and I have no feelings for each other anymore. Staying together is pointless. I love Orlaith now, and I am determined to be with her.”
“Who wants to be with you? Do you think you’re worthy? Caleb, if you don’t let go of me, I won’t be polite!” Orlaith shouted, stomping hard on Caleb’s foot.
Caleb winced in pain but didn’t release her, instead soothing her gently, “Orlaith, stop making a fuss. We’re already like this; I’ll take responsibility for you.”
“What do you mean, ‘like this’? Caleb, stop spouting nonsense.” Orlaith was on the verge of tears, astonished by his shamelessness.
However, with her disheveled clothes and messy hair, it was hard to deny any relationship with Caleb.
“Mom, this shameless woman is still flirting with sister’s boyfriend. Such people don’t deserve words; they need a beating. I’ll ruin her face and see how she seduces men then!” Emily declared, lunging at Orlaith and yanking her hair, pulling her out of Caleb’s arms.
Orlaith, her scalp stinging, fought back, scratching Emily’s face deeply. Emily, unprepared, cried out as a burning pain spread across her cheek.
“Ah! Mom!” Emily screamed, trying to slap Orlaith but was intercepted by Caleb, who forcefully threw her aside.
Emily, unsteady in her high heels, fell to the ground in a very undignified manner.
Seeing her daughter fall, Charlotte rushed to embrace Emily, sobbing loudly. Her wailing drew people from nearby rooms, filling the hallway with onlookers.
“Caleb, Emily has called you brother-in-law for so long. We don’t ask you to treat her as a sister, but you can’t hit her for the sake of a mistress. Caleb, how can you be so heartless…”
The people in the hallway were pointing and gossiping about Caleb and Orlaith. Orlaith’s face was filled with distress; thanks to Caleb, she had lost all her dignity. Caleb’s expression was extremely dark; he had finally experienced the full extent of Victoria’s mother and sister’s tactics. No wonder Charlotte, despite her humble origins, had managed to dominate the Harris family for so many years with her skills in creating drama.
Caleb, frustrated and angry, went back to the room to find his phone and called Victoria.
“Victoria, come over immediately and take your mother and sister away. If you want to continue making a scene, it will only result in everyone losing face.”
Victoria was unaware that Charlotte and Emily had gone to confront Caleb. When she received the call, she rushed to the hotel.
The hallway was still chaotic, with Emily and Orlaith tussling like wildcats. Charlotte continued her usual act, crying and playing the innocent victim, ostensibly trying to mediate but actually siding with her daughter.
Seeing this, Victoria felt a severe headache coming on. Charlotte’s low-class tactics might work on David, but Caleb was not one to be swayed by them.
Victoria’s relationship with Caleb was already on shaky ground, and her mother and sister’s antics were only making things worse.
“Mom, Emily, what are you doing? Stop it now!” Victoria hurried over, trying to separate them.
But Emily and Orlaith were already too enraged, both sporting scratches and looking very disheveled. No matter how much Victoria tried to persuade them, no one listened to her.
Victoria didn’t dare to intervene physically as she was pregnant and worried about harming her unborn child.
“Mom, make Emily stop. Do you want to deal with the consequences of injuring a Taylor family heiress?” Victoria shouted.
Charlotte was visibly stunned. She hadn’t expected this shameless mistress to be the daughter of one of the four great families, the Taylor family.
With Victoria’s help, along with Caleb’s, they finally managed to separate Emily and Orlaith.
Emily continued to curse loudly, saying extremely unpleasant things.
“Enough, shut up and come home with me,” Victoria said angrily, exasperated by her foolish sister’s constant troublemaking.
“Victoria, since you’re here, let’s clear things up today,” Caleb interjected, stopping them from leaving.
Victoria bit her lip, already guessing what he was going to say. “Caleb, do you have to be so heartless?”
“Victoria, I don’t love you anymore. Forced love is never sweet,” Caleb said, his face expressionless, as he put his arm around Orlaith. “You see, I am already with Orlaith.”
