He gazed tenderly into her eyes, serious and focused. “Isabella, do you remember when I told you that I’m a bit stubborn? Once I make a promise, it cannot be changed for a lifetime. Once you wear this ring, you cannot take it off.”
She blinked her beautiful eyes, thinking that Andrew’s proposal was so assertive. But she really wanted to tell him that divorce and the ring didn’t have much to do with each other. Even if they divorced, she could just refuse to return it, and he couldn’t do anything about it.
Of course, Isabella couldn’t let him know these thoughts.
If Andrew knew that while he was seriously proposing, she was thinking about how to keep his ring, he might be angry.
Isabella patiently listened to him finish speaking, then snatched the ring and put it on the ring finger of her right hand herself. The size was perfect.
Instinctively, she raised her hand. A diamond ring now adorned her slender, fair finger. The sunlight shone through her fingers, making the diamond sparkle brilliantly, just like the pure and bright love between her and him.
“A grown man, yet you’re so fussy about proposing,” she said, lowering her hand with a hint of dissatisfaction.
Andrew: “…”
He thought it was better not to say anything at this moment.
She lowered her arm, her smiling eyes falling back on him seriously, “Andrew, you forgot one part. Aren’t you supposed to kneel to propose?”
Andrew: “…”
He wanted to remind her, “Mrs. Turner, you’ve already put the ring on. Can this part be reversed?”
He chuckled softly, feeling a bit helpless, but he still obediently knelt on one knee.
Although he was kneeling, his back was straight. This noble man exuded grace and pride even in his bones.
“Miss Isabella, will you marry me, Andrew Turner, as my wife? ”
“To love him, respect him, and cherish him, in poverty or wealth, in sickness or health, at all times and for any reason, until the end of life?”
Isabella looked down at him, her smile brighter than the afternoon sun. She replied in a serious tone, “Right now, I’m very willing. Whether I will still be willing when he gets old and gray depends on his performance. Stand up, my dear Mr. Andrew.”
Andrew: “…”
Then Isabella held his hand, laughing as she helped him up from the ground.
Andrew hugged her waist, spinning her around a few times in excitement. She wrapped her arms around his neck, her laughter sweet.
Then, friends and family emerged from the hotel, cheering and clapping.
The prepared snow machines began to spray snow. However, it was Ryan’s first time using them, and instead of a gentle snowfall, the machines blasted everyone with snow, leaving them all wet and the scene quite chaotic.
Andrew: “…”
He should have known Ryan wasn’t reliable.
Luckily, Andrew’s proposal had already succeeded. The ensuing party wasn’t too disrupted by the mishap with the snow machines.
“Oops, our boss is now tied down by this little girl, Isabella. Another bachelor bites the dust, and we can’t even get enough people for our wild nights out,” Charles couldn’t help but remark.
As soon as he finished speaking, he got a slap on the back of his head from someone else.
“Stop talking nonsense. Today is the boss’s big day. If you keep running your mouth, he might come after you,” Austin said with a laugh.
As night fell, Andrew held Isabella as they sat on the beach watching the fireworks. Her head rested on his shoulder, and while she found the fireworks beautiful, she also thought they were a huge waste of money. She decided that once they were married, she would have to strictly manage the household finances to prevent this spendthrift man from squandering money.
“What are you thinking about, Isabella?” Andrew asked.
Isabella didn’t dare tell the truth, as it would ruin the moment. Fortunately, she thought quickly and replied casually, “Why did you choose to propose today? Normally, you would have proposed yesterday. Valentine’s Day is so romantic!”
“Valentine’s Day is a day for everyone. Today is our own special anniversary,” he replied with a warm smile.
“Our anniversary?” she asked, looking confused.
The day they first met was her birthday, and their reunion was on Asher’s birthday-neither was February 15th. Perhaps Andrew, being older, had simply mixed up the dates?
Isabella wisely chose to remain silent, smiling and agreeing, “Today is good; it was a nice surprise.”
Seeing her bewildered expression, Andrew just smiled warmly without further explanation or reminders.
Andrew also patiently waited for the fireworks to end. He wasn’t particularly fond of these fleeting spectacles and preferred the stars in the night sky. But Ryan had insisted that all women loved fireworks. Andrew felt Isabella leaning on his shoulder, almost dozing off.
Where was the expected excitement and surprise?
“It’s late, let’s go back.” He took off his coat and draped it over her shoulders, holding her close as they walked back to the hotel.
“Are we staying at the hotel tonight?” she asked.
“Ryan prepared a room. I haven’t checked it out yet,” he said, handing her a room key card. “Go see if you like it. If you do, we can stay here for the night. If not, we’ll go back to the apartment.”
She took the key card from him and quickly went upstairs in her high heels. Less than five minutes later, she was back downstairs, her face flushed.
“How was it?” Andrew asked.
Isabella coughed awkwardly, “Andrew, let’s go home and be with Asher.”
Seeing her embarrassment, Andrew had a good guess of what had happened. He knew Ryan wouldn’t do anything proper. Maybe Ryan was too comfortable and needed a trip to Africa for a reality check.
“Well, let’s go home then.” He turned and walked towards the hotel exit.
His car was parked right at the entrance, a black Range Rover. As soon as Isabella settled into the passenger seat, she received a call from Olivia.
She hadn’t taken Olivia to her recent concerts, assigning her a more critical task: keeping an eye on Elowen. Isabella believed Elowen wouldn’t give up easily.
Unexpectedly, Olivia had good news for her so soon.
