“Henry, haven’t you heard the saying: ‘To avoid being known, one should not act’?” Andrew’s back straightened against the sofa as he spoke calmly, “So, the person secretly aiding her all these years wasn’t you?”
“What if it was! I do like Scarlett, but I’ve never done anything I shouldn’t have with her.” Henry deliberately raised his voice, attempting to sound confident, but his tone was noticeably unsteady.
“You know Scarlett has had a hard time these past years, yet you stood by and watched. After all, she had feelings for you.” Henry protested.
“Are you suggesting that I should thank her for betraying me?” Andrew sneered.
“You know she was manipulated by my parents…” Henry blurted out in his haste, visibly flustered after the words left his mouth.
Seemingly unperturbed, Andrew’s lips twitched slightly as he continued, “Does that mean she wasn’t at fault?”
Though a trap set by the cunning Thomas couple, Scarlett wasn’t forced into it; she succumbed to temptation herself.
“What about you? Are you blameless in all this? How genuine are your feelings for Scarlett?” Henry demanded, his tone slipping into a slightly uncontrolled manner.
Andrew toyed with a cigarette case and lighter in his hand, expertly lighting a cigarette. “I’m not here to discuss the past with you today, and you have no right to interrogate me.”
Clasping his fists tightly, it took Henry a moment to regain his composure. “Fine, let’s not mention Scarlett; she’s your past, abandoned by you. Let’s talk about Isabella. She’s human; due to your status, you can’t marry her, but I can. The family already knows I favor her.”
“And what of it?” Andrew’s lips curved into a cold smile. “She’s mine.”
Flushed with anger, Henry’s voice dripped with sarcasm. “You, dear uncle, possess remarkable skills. The woman I’ve never even touched, you’ve already taken to bed.”
Andrew remained silent, his gaze icy as he stared at Henry. Henry’s hidden hands tightened, and he appeared somewhat flustered.
Amidst the smoke-filled air, after a brief silence, Andrew flicked the ash from his cigarette and spoke in a detached, deep voice, “Henry, being loose-tongued brings trouble. Manage your words from now on. Also, I never stoop to snatch; it’s always been you coveting what’s mine, including Isabella.”
“Be it human or werewolf, she belongs only to me.”
Andrew finished speaking and rose from the sofa, his tall figure draped in the smoke-colored coat exuding a mature and cold demeanor.
Striding away, after a few steps, he paused, glanced back at Henry thoughtfully, and said, “Some say I’m too ruthless. Henry, as long as you behave, what’s rightfully yours, I’ll grant you.”
With that, he turned and walked away.
Henry wore a dark expression, staring at Andrew’s departing figure.
Andrew and Isabella returned to the apartment; Asher was already fast asleep.
Isabella tiptoed into the children’s room. Only a dim night light illuminated the room. Asher lay in his small bed, covered in a cartoon blanket, revealing only his dark little head, sleeping incredibly cutely.
At times, Asher would scratch his face with his hand and then lick his fist afterward. Isabella couldn’t help but chuckle; this little guy’s behavior was becoming more and more like that of a little animal.
She bent over to kiss her son’s chubby little face before leaving the small bed quietly.
Back in the master bedroom, Andrew had just finished showering, his short hair still damp, wearing nothing but a large bath towel wrapped around his waist. His abdomen displayed the standard abdominal lines-a solid and evenly toned muscular physique, a manifestation of masculine robustness and beauty.
Seeing Isabella, he instinctively reached out to embrace her, but she sidestepped away.
“You’re sleeping in the guest room tonight,” she said with a stern face.
Andrew frowned at her, slightly puzzled.
“I’m tired, so no touching allowed,” Isabella stated, then promptly pushed him out of the bedroom.
The next day, she headed directly to the film set, barely acknowledging him.
Exiting the restroom, Isabella accidentally collided with someone forcefully. Luckily, she steadied herself against the wall. However, the woman she bumped into fell hard on the ground, and just as Isabella was about to apologize, she heard a rebuke.
“Hey, stop right there!”
“Sorry, it was an accident.”
“Are you blind? I put effort into my appearance. Can you afford to compensate for my damaged jewelry?” Even though it was the woman who had run into Isabella, she arrogantly pointed fingers at her.
Frowning, Isabella didn’t want trouble and attempted to apologize, but the woman chose to blame her instead.
Scarlett appeared a few years older than Isabella but behaved like an immature child, probably spoiled by her parents.
Isabella didn’t want to engage with such a spoiled brat, so she pushed her aside.
“I’m busy. I don’t have time for your antics.”
Scarlett stumbled back from Isabella’s push and nearly fell. She called out to a nearby private room, “Henry, Henry, someone’s bullying me!”
“Scarlett, what’s wrong?” Henry emerged from the room, briefly looking surprised when he saw Isabella, then smirked sarcastically.
“Henry, she’s bullying me! ” Scarlett ran to Henry’s side, pulling at him.
Henry’s eyes roamed freely over Isabella. “Isabella, since you’ve got involved with Andrew, you’re letting Taylor family’s heiress bully as she pleases. No wonder you don’t fancy someone like me, a layabout with no claim to the company.”
“Henry, what are you saying?” Isabella felt her mind go blank; she couldn’t process everything.
Even if she were foolish, she wouldn’t be unable to understand Henry’s words at this moment.
Henry repeatedly claimed she was involved with his uncle, but her man was only Andrew.
Isabella’s expression shifted from confusion to sudden realization.
Andrew, Andrew Turner-she had never dreamed that they were the same person. After all, there were many people in the world with the same name.
Her unemployed drifter had suddenly transformed into the CEO of the Turner family’s conglomerate, worth billions. Was this her stroke of luck?
“What’s going on? Isabella, you don’t know anything?” Henry, seeing her baffled expression, suddenly found the situation quite amusing.
His uncle had quite the personal charm-keeping his identity hidden and still make the daughter of the Harris family fall in love with him.
