If he dares to say so, she will never let him off.
“What’s on your mind?” Andrew walked over, habitually reaching out and tousling her hair.
Isabella’s hair was all messed up by him, and she pushed his hand away discontentedly. “Andrew, tell me about your family.”
“Really want to know?” He raised an eyebrow slightly.
“Yes.” Isabella nodded vigorously.
Andrew took the honey water from her hand, tilted his head back, took a few sips, the sweet and moist taste flowing down his throat, making it very comfortable. But bringing up his family was definitely not a comfortable topic.
“I am a illegitimate child. My mother is my father’s second wife, and I grew up with my stepfather since I was young,” he calmly said.
Isabella nodded, a hint of surprise in her gaze, but that she could understand.
“Let’s start with my biological father. He is 23 years older than my mother and already retired. I have a stepmother, a stepbrother, who is my step-sibling, and there’s also a sister, uncles, aunts, and nephews, nieces, and others.”
“So many people,” Isabella muttered softly, then said, “Tell me about your other family.”
“In the other family, there’s my grandmother, foster father, brother-in-law, elder sister, and also a nephew and niece. Other people include uncles, aunts, grandparents, two uncles, four aunts, and…”
“Stop!” Isabella interrupted him before he could finish.
Andrew’s family seemed to have too many relatives.
“Um, what do they all do? Do they have legitimate jobs and stable incomes?” Isabella asked cautiously, thinking, “I hope they aren’t all unemployed wanderers.”
“They are in various professions-some are public servants, some work in companies, some are in the military, and there are also businessmen. Their economic foundations are quite good,” Andrew answered truthfully.
The Turner family’s motto is not to support idle people, and the male members who are not qualified to inherit the family business will seek their own paths. Among his cousins, there are directors of water conservancy, CEOs of state-owned enterprises, military officers, and company bosses. In short, they are all doing decently well.
Isabella felt relieved after hearing this. Fortunately, she only needed to support her one unemployed wanderer.
However, Andrew was unaware of Isabella’s thoughts. He naturally wrapped his arm around her slender waist and pulled her into his embrace.
She sat on his lap, leaning her head against his shoulder.
“By asking so much, do you want to meet my family?” Andrew’s magnetic voice sounded in her ear, and his warm breath landed on her cheek, making it tingle.
She giggled and reached out to cover his mouth. He seized her hand and lightly kissed the back of it.
His lips were cool, yet the kiss felt scorching, making her hastily pull her hand back.
Andrew chuckled, pulled her gently into his arms, and said warmly, “Most of the people in my family are insignificant; you don’t need to worry about them. If you want to meet, you can start by meeting my sister.”
The Turner family was overly complicated, and he didn’t want to prematurely drag Isabella into the whirlpool.
“Is it the one I saw at the hospital last time?” Isabella asked. She had hidden in the restroom at that time and didn’t see anyone clearly but had a faint impression.
“Yes,” Andrew nodded.
“A new movie is about to start filming; I don’t want to be distracted. Let’s wait until I finish this movie,” Isabella replied.
When men and women date, once they meet each other’s parents, their relationship will elevate to another level, like discussing marriage.
“Okay,” Andrew nodded without urging her. He had enough patience with her.
Isabella smiled, leaning against Andrew’s chest. She was about to doze off when her phone suddenly rang.
She lazily answered the call, and Ava’s voice came from the other end, “Miss, it’s almost eleven; when are you coming back?”
“I’m at Olivia’s place tonight for a script reading. I won’t be going home. Let Dad know,” Isabella casually remarked.
With David just imposing a curfew, Isabella staying out all night was like openly disregarding her father’s words.
Isabella hung up the phone and noticed Andrew looking at her with a knowing smile.
“What’s wrong?” Isabella asked.
Andrew shook his head with a faint smile. He just remembered something.
Back in school, Ryan and his girlfriend were always glued together, almost like conjoined twins. When the girl’s family called, urging her to come home, Ryan taught her to lie, asking her to deceive her family by saying she was attending extra classes at school.
Now, seeing Isabella lie without flinching, Andrew felt a guilty conscience, as if he were abducting a young girl.
“Script reading?” He raised an eyebrow, a touch of mischief in his expression.
Isabella blushed slightly, struggling to free herself from his embrace. “Yes, I’m going back to my room to read the script.”
As she turned around, Andrew grabbed her arm. With a slight force, Isabella fell onto the couch. His tall figure covered hers, and just then, there was a sound at the door, followed by it swinging open, revealing two figures.
Hearing the noise, Isabella hastily pushed Andrew off her, scrambling to sit up and nervously fastening her buttons.
Andrew sat on the couch, his handsome face calm and composed, yet his breathing slightly irregular, chest subtly rising and falling.
Amelia entered with Asher, both looking embarrassed. They hadn’t expected to walk in on this scene; it was like being caught naked and being judged.
“Why did you suddenly come back?” Andrew asked calmly.
“Asher wanted to come home,” Amelia replied.
“Dad, Mom!” Asher kicked off his tiny shoes, running into the room barefoot, using both hands and feet to climb on top of Isabella.
The chubby little body of the baby directly toppled Isabella onto the couch, planting a few wet kisses on her face, leaving her covered in saliva.
“…” Isabella thought to herself: “Both father and son have this habit of toppling people and kissing them.”
“Alright, stop bothering Mommy. It’s late. Go upstairs and sleep with Amelia,” Andrew lifted Asher from Isabella’s body, handing him over to Amelia.
Being lifted in the air, Asher’s little hands and feet flailed, expressing his displeasure.
But eventually, Amelia took the baby upstairs.
As soon as the baby left, Isabella sat up from the couch, gathered her long hair lazily, and yawned. “I’m going to bed too. Rest early, goodnight.”
Finishing her words, Isabella quickly ran upstairs.
Andrew watched her fleeing figure, shaking his head with a faint smile.
He didn’t go back to his room but headed to the study. There were still some documents left to handle; it seemed he wouldn’t be getting much sleep tonight either.
