Theodore Lewis was sentenced to thirty years in prison for abusing power for personal gain and corruption. Given Theodore’s age, whether he’ll make it out of prison alive is a real question.
“Don’t look at your phone while driving, and hold onto the child,”Andrew said with a serious face, turning the steering wheel.
Isabella stuck her tongue out and obediently tossed her phone aside.
The car moved steadily along the flat road. Isabella, holding Asher, casually remarked, “Theodore was sentenced. I wonder who will take his place.”
The position of Deputy Mayor in charge of urban development is quite significant.
“Former East District Mayor, Logan Miller,”Andrew replied.
Isabella was taken aback for a moment. She had just spoken casually and didn’t expect him to respond. “How did you know? The unemployed seem to be quite well-informed.”
Andrew naturally had a wide network of information. In his position, being unaware of information could be fatal. Of course, he wouldn’t disclose this to her.
“Watch fewer dramas, read more news, and you’ll know too,”Andrew said in a flat tone, infuriating her.
“Logan Miller? I’ve never heard of him.”She retorted, annoyed.
On the steering wheel rested a pair of slender and beautiful hands. Andrew drove attentively, and in the rearview mirror reflected a pair of deep blue eyes, resembling gems, casually glancing at Isabella.
“You know him, he’s Luke’s father.”
“Ah?” Isabella gasped in surprise. Luke was the male lead in her movie ‘Mermaid Princess.’

Before long, Logan officially took over Theodore’s position, overseeing the city development in Ithaca.
Logan’s assumption of office had the most significant impact on the Mitchell family. They were the largest construction company in Ithaca town, top-notch domestically, and inevitably had dealings with the city development department. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have ingratiated themselves with the Turner family.
Caleb tried to visit several times but was turned away. Finally, through connections, he managed to meet Logan, hoping to invite him for a meal, but was politely declined.
The Mitchell family had several pending projects awaiting approval from the city development department, delaying the flow of money day by day. Caleb had been in a bad mood lately; even when with Victoria, he has no interest in having sex.

Victoria lay on his chest, her cheeks slightly flushed, but she wasn’t fully engaged.
“Feeling bad?”she asked softly.
“Hmm,”Caleb responded with a furrowed brow.
“The project approvals haven’t come through?”Victoria looked up at him.
Caleb nodded. “With Logan’s new position, who knows if it might affect our family.”
“This little thing has you so worried? Just send more money. What can’t money solve?”Victoria blinked, her smile gentle.
Caleb, however, impatiently sat up. Though shrewd, Victoria didn’t understand much about the political and business arena.
“Do you really think money is all-powerful? If we hastily offer money without understanding the Miller family’s background, and if Logan is incorruptible and exposes it, branding us as bribe givers, the company might as well close its doors. Besides, the best way to influence isn’t always through money but through alliances.”
“Like your engagement to Evelyn? Are you planning to sacrifice yourself again? Unfortunately, it seems the Miller family doesn’t have a suitable daughter of marriageable age.” Victoria chuckled, a hint of teasing in her laughter.
Caleb’s face remained grim throughout. His worry lay precisely here. The Miller family didn’t have a suitable daughter, only a son. But there were no suitable unmarried girls; the peripheral branches of their family wouldn’t be of interest to them.
“Both you and Luke are in the entertainment industry. How well do you know him?” Caleb suddenly asked.
“We’ve collaborated a few times, not too familiar. Luke’s temperament is cold and proud. Except for being somewhat friendly with Isabella, he doesn’t pay attention to anyone else,” Victoria replied.
Caleb suddenly felt a sense of enlightenment after hearing this. “Isabella marrying into the Miller family? That’s indeed a good choice. I heard Luke likes that kind of fresh and pure girl, and besides, she’s the heiress of Moonlit Art Inc. Marrying such a wealthy and prestigious bride wouldn’t be a loss for their family.”
Caleb’s mood suddenly brightened; he pulled Victoria close and planted a firm kiss on her cheek. “You don’t need to worry about this. As long as Isabella and Luke get engaged, the Miller family will be related to ours. With that, Logan won’t be able to refuse our affairs.”
“Related? Even if Luke becomes my brother-in-law, it has nothing to do with your family. You’re not related to me.” Victoria teasingly protested.
Caleb chuckled, his big hand playfully grabbing Victoria’s chest, not too gently, prompting her to let out a squeal.
“Be a good girl. The betrothal gift from the Mitchell family will surely be delivered to your doorstep alongside the Miller family’s.” Caleb’s hand slid up, pinching Victoria’s chin.
He knew she wanted to marry him. At this moment, he threw out the fattest bait, confident she’d take it.
Sure enough, joy couldn’t be concealed on Victoria’s face. She immediately got out of bed to dress. David was at home tonight, and she had to rush back. She was the one who could decide Isabella’s marriage, being her father.
She hurriedly drove home, fortunately finding David and Charlotte still awake, chatting in the living room.
Coincidentally, they were discussing the Miller family.
The Miller family was currently in the limelight. With Logan assuming office, he was on the same level as David. Although there was no need to flatter, proper courtesy couldn’t be omitted. David personally instructed Charlotte to prepare a small gift as a gesture of goodwill.
Hearing this, Victoria stepped in wearing high heels, smiling as she said, “Mom, are you going to the Miller family? Well, I’ll go with you, so you won’t have to make an extra trip.”
“Aren’t you busy with filming? Why join in?”Charlotte replied, momentarily unable to fathom her daughter’s intentions.
Victoria sat beside David, reaching out to hold his arm, displaying a playful demeanor. She was David’s first child, albeit born out of wedlock, yet she was his favorite, far surpassing the legitimate heiress, Isabella.
“If you have something to say, don’t beat around the bush with me and Dad,” David chuckled.
“Someone asked me to broker a marriage between Isabella and Luke. I want to discuss the Miller family’s stance first.”Victoria spoke truthfully.
David was briefly surprised but then nodded in agreement. Though the Miller family wasn’t one of the four major families, their influence was considerable. Boarding this ship would undoubtedly assist his future career.
As for whether Luke and Isabella were suitable, it wasn’t within his scope of consideration. Isabella’s own feelings were even less relevant.
In David’s perception, as his daughter, she should be prepared to give everything for him and the Harris family.
