Confused by the situation, onlookers intervened and struggled to pull the two women apart.
Harper, held by two men on either side, continued to curse and grumble, “I’ll beat you to death, shameless fox.”
“Who are you calling a fox? Watch your language,” Victoria’s assistant and Harper started quarreling.
Seeing Emily arrive to help, Harper, outnumbered, changed her strategy and began wailing loudly.
“I am Evelyn’s mother, and this shameless fox seduced my daughter’s fiance, causing her to be abandoned,” Harper said indignantly. She even spat in Victoria’s direction, “Shameless! With so many men in the world, you had to seduce someone else’s. Does sleeping with someone else’s husband feel different?”
Hearing the claim that she was Evelyn’s mother, Victoria couldn’t help but panic. How did Caleb’s family find out about their secret relationship?
The people present were left bewildered. Was Victoria Caleb’s mistress? What was going on? Weren’t Caleb and Isabella rumored to be having an affair not long ago?
However, seeing Evelyn’s supposed mother confronting Victoria so assertively made them question. It seemed like Victoria might indeed be in the wrong. Her reputation took a hit.
After a round of verbal abuse, Harper finally left, and Victoria was subsequently taken to the hospital.
Harper showed no mercy, and Victoria, fearing the consequences of involving the police, refrained from reporting the assault. Being a public figure, having an affair exposed and being assaulted would only harm her reputation.
Though she couldn’t involve the police, Victoria’s assistant, following Victoria’s instructions, immediately called Caleb. While Victoria only had superficial injuries, her assistant described the situation as if she were on the brink of death.
Caleb hurried to the hospital.
Upon seeing him, Victoria directly threw herself into his arms, crying in distress.
Her face was swollen, bruises adorned her mouth, her lips were cut, and her face was streaked with tears, portraying a pitiful image.
Caleb softened, his hand gently caressing her face as he wiped away her tears with affectionate kisses, consoling her in a tender voice.
Unbeknownst to them, Isabella, hiding outside the hospital room, recorded the scene on her phone and promptly sent it to Evelyn.
Evelyn, with her fiery temper, would surely explode at the sight of Caleb and Victoria embracing. Shortly afterward, she stormed into the hospital, accompanied by her mother, Elizabeth.
Victoria’s hospital room turned chaotic as Evelyn and her mother violently confronted Victoria.
Elizabeth was much more formidable than the impostor Harper; fighting alongside her daughter, they both attacked Victoria. The mother-daughter duo forcefully held Victoria down on the bed, pulling her hair and slamming her head against the wall.
“Victoria, you shameless woman, pretending to be innocent. Seducing my man and falsely accusing others. You’ve seen shameless people, but never someone as despicable as you,” Evelyn exclaimed.
“Evelyn, why waste words on her? Indeed, she’s just like her mother, sleeping with other people’s husbands. She’s really learned from her mother,” Elizabeth didn’t spare a glance at Victoria, only casting a cold gaze at Caleb.
One slap doesn’t sound, but Victoria managing to seduce Caleb indicates that he isn’t a righteous man either. Elizabeth had warned her daughter about Caleb’s unreliability, but Evelyn wouldn’t listen.
“Caleb, you and Evelyn are already engaged, yet you’re cheating on her. The Lewis family won’t be easy to mess with. Forget about the recent projects you’ve submitted; they won’t get approved,” Elizabeth threatened.
Caleb was a shrewd man, knowing when to be tough and when to yield. As soon as family interests were at stake, he immediately put on a smiling face.
“Aunt, you’ve misunderstood. You rushed to the set to harm Victoria without understanding the situation. I came here specifically to apologize to her.”
“What nonsense are you talking about? When did I go to the set?” Elizabeth retorted.
Victoria, despite feeling dizzy from her head hitting the wall, hastily climbed to her feet, looking at Elizabeth in disbelief. “You, you’re Evelyn’s mother?”
“Of course, who else would she have as her mother? Have you gone mad?” Elizabeth sneered at her.
Victoria’s head throbbed. She was usually adept at scheming, so how did she fail to detect the scent of conspiracy this time?
She was almost certain she had been manipulated.
Such clever tactics, one layer after another. First, finding someone to play Evelyn’s mother anyone would do since Victoria hadn’t met Elizabeth. Then, orchestrating an assault, knowing she would feel wronged and play the victim in front of Caleb.
So, she called Caleb, and when he rushed to the hospital, he unwittingly fell into their trap.
They were always careful about their relationship, never giving anyone a handle. However, this time, Caleb openly visited her at the hospital, and the adversaries took pictures of them being affectionate. These pictures were sent to Evelyn, luring her into catching them red-handed.
Realizing this, Victoria struggled to get off the bed and rushed toward the door of the hospital room. She guessed that the plotters were likely still in the hospital, and she was determined to expose them.
However, as soon as Victoria opened the door, a horde of journalists flooded in, cameras in hand, snapping pictures incessantly.
“Miss Victoria, there are rumors that you’ve intervened in Mr. Caleb and Miss Evelyn’s relationship. Is it true?”
“Miss Victoria, we heard that you’re a love child. What are your thoughts on the term ‘mistress’?”
“Miss Victoria, can you explain the current situation? Is Miss Evelyn here to catch you in the act?”

The shocking scene left Victoria stunned, momentarily unsure how to react.
Caleb, quick on his feet, realizing these reporters might not be friendly, promptly pulled her behind him, politely handling the reporters, “Dear journalists, you’ve misunderstood…”
“Misunderstood what!” Evelyn interrupted, pushing forward. She raised her phone, showing the picture of Caleb comforting Victoria, the two embracing.
“You’re hugging and kissing each other. What’s there to misunderstand?”
Caleb, infuriated by Evelyn’s irrational behavior, was left speechless.
The hospital room descended into chaos.
Meanwhile, at the corridor entrance, Isabella and Olivia stood there, coldly observing the drama unfolding in the room.
“How’s it going? Are the people I arranged reliable?” Olivia’s arm rested on Isabella’s shoulder as she grinned casually.
Isabella nodded, smiling, “Not bad, they’ve improved. And as for the Harris family, don’t forget to arrange people there.”
“Don’t worry, there are more reporters waiting outside the Harris family’s door than here. Your dad cares about his reputation; he’d be upset if he’s not angered this time.” Olivia chuckled with a hint of schadenfreude.
