“I don’t know him personally, but I’ve heard some things. Robert is not a good person. You should keep your distance from him,” Andrew’s tone was calm, but his expression was very serious. He wasn’t joking with her.
He hadn’t met Robert in person. Although Robert was currently the CEO of Moonlit Art Inc., he was still essentially working for others. His status was not high enough to associate with the Turner family. Andrew had only heard about Robert from Beta Ryan, and the stories weren’t exactly flattering.
Robert had no notable background. If he had not employed less-than-savory means, he could not have established himself in Moonlit Art Inc., or even in the entertainment industry in just a few years.
She smiled in response, seemingly unconcerned. “Well, if he’s not a good person, that’s perfect. I like taking down the bad guys.”
She finished her meal and looked at the time. She had learned from Olivia that Robert was usually in the office in the morning and had engagements or events in the afternoon.
She drove to Moonlit Art Inc. and sent a message to Olivia, instructing her to be prepared for their coordinated plan.
Her car parked in front of the Moonlit Art Inc. building, and she instinctively looked up at the towering office building that extended over thirty stories, blocking the overhead sunlight.
She extended her arm slowly towards the tall building, her palm gradually clenching. She was determined to hold onto everything that belonged to her.
Wearing high heels, she climbed the steps, but meeting the company’s CEO wasn’t as easy as she thought. Without an appointment, she was stopped at the front desk.
The receptionist was polite enough, explaining with a smile, “I’m sorry, ma’am, but you can’t see Mr. Robert without an appointment.”
However, Isabella was far from polite. Her voice became sharp and deliberately loud. “How dare you stop me? Do you know who I am? I don’t need an appointment to enter my own company!”
The receptionists at the front desk exchanged puzzled looks. They hadn’t met the heir of the Harris family and didn’t want to offend her recklessly. Crossing the spoiled young miss might get them fired.
Just as they were at an impasse, Olivia rushed over and scolded the receptionists.
“Do you want to get yourselves fired? You’re stopping the heir of the Harris family!” Olivia reprimanded the front desk staff before adopting a subservient demeanor and personally leading Isabella into the elevator.
Once the elevator doors closed, Olivia pressed the button for the top floor.
As the elevator ascended slowly, Olivia turned her head to Isabella and couldn’t help but smile. “Miss Spoiled, you really play the role well. I almost got fooled. It seems you have a talent for acting.”
She shrugged with a hint of helplessness. She watched her stepmother and stepsister perform in front of her every day, singing, reciting lines, and acting convincingly in every way. She thought it was difficult to learn.
“Can’t help it. I’m a neglected stepdaughter with an uncaring biological father and an unloving stepmother. If I don’t act assertive, I’ll be bullied by these snobbish people in the company,” Isabella explained.
Olivia nodded in agreement.
Outside the CEO’s office, Isabella symbolically knocked on the door, and without waiting for a response, she pushed the door open. She had to maintain her image as the willful princess.
Inside the office, Robert was standing by the floor-to-ceiling window, speaking on the phone. When he saw her enter, he promptly ended the call.
“You’re here. Please, have a seat,” he said, opening his arms to gesture her towards a chair. His face wore a gentle smile, displaying no disdain for her sudden intrusion.
She confidently took a seat on the leather sofa in the meeting area, looking up at the tall man standing just a few steps away.
Robert, at the age of thirty-one, appeared as a refined individual, and Isabella found it difficult to imagine that this man with such an elegant demeanor could be such a profit-driven and ruthless businessman.
While she was lost in thought, Robert had already taken a lychee-flavored beverage from the refrigerator and placed it in front of her. It was her favorite when she was young. It was surprising that Robert remembered that.
She reached out to touch the drink. It had just been taken from the fridge and was very cold. She wanted to drink it but was currently experiencing her menstrual period.
“I remember you liked lychee when you were little,” Robert gently remarked when he noticed she hadn’t taken a sip of the beverage.
She replied casually, “As you said, that was when I was little. People’s tastes change.”
She couldn’t exactly tell him that she couldn’t drink anything cold because her menstrual period had started. Their relationship had not reached that level of familiarity.
This minor matter didn’t concern Robert any further. He redirected the conversation to the main topic.
“I heard that you recently signed with Director Davis for ‘Mermaid Princess.’ Working with Director Davis is a rare opportunity. You’re now halfway into the entertainment industry. This circle is much more complex than you might imagine, and without a good manager, you can easily get into trouble. I’ll arrange for a well-known manager to work with you. As for an assistant, the company has hired a few new ones, so you can choose one who suits you.”
While Robert spoke with a calm and smiling demeanor, there was no room for negotiation in his words.
If Isabella were still the naive little girl from the past, she would probably have been manipulated by Robert and felt grateful to him.
She patiently waited for Robert to finish speaking, and then, emulating his tone, she responded with a gentle smile. However, her words left no room for negotiation either.
“An assistant is responsible for my daily life and well-being. I will bring the daughter of my former nanny to the set because she knows my daily life well. I wouldn’t feel comfortable with anyone else taking care of me. As for a manager, I have already chosen one.”
“Oh, tell me about it,” Robert raised an eyebrow, slightly surprised.
But just then, the office door unexpectedly made a sound, and he instinctively said, “Come in.”
The door opened, and Olivia walked in.
“Do you need something?” Robert asked. He didn’t recall calling Olivia into his office.
However, before Olivia could answer, Isabella spoke up, “Of course, there’s something. Olivia has already agreed to become my manager, and she’ll be responsible for everything related to me from now on.”
Robert instinctively narrowed his eyes as he looked at Olivia, seeming deep in thought. After a brief pause, a smile crept onto his lips. “The little girl has indeed grown up.”
Isabella was clearly prepared for this encounter. The little girl he remembered was no longer easily manipulated, and she even gave him a run for his money.
“For anything else, discuss it with Olivia. I’ve made an appointment for a spa session at the beauty salon, and I’m running out of time.” After saying this, Isabella stood up with a radiant smile and walked towards the door.
Her graceful and elegant figure, with the red high heels creating a delightful sound as they met the floor, was truly charming.
Olivia didn’t need to stick around any longer, so she followed Isabella out.
The spacious CEO’s office fell into a momentary silence.
