Sally
That night, I covered my entire body with the blankets, but I promise it wasn’t dark underneath because my phone’s light illuminated the space. I also couldn’t stop biting my nails.
I had been browsing for information about what I saw Yvonne doing and how to help her stop. Now that I had some ideas and advice for her, would she listen to me?
I let out a deep sigh, and just then, my phone beeped. I checked to see a message notification. When I opened it, a smile crossed my face-it was Allison.
“Hey,” she had sent.
“Hi,” I replied.
Allison: How’s my runaway sister doing?
Me: *Sends laughing emojis* Come on, you know I didn’t run away.
Allison: Oh, really? Maybe I should check your room to see if you’re there.
Me: Oh my goodness, Allison!
Allison: Fine! *rolling eyes emoji* I just fucking miss you, Sally. Can you come over? Let’s have a little girl talk.
Me: Hmm… You know it’s already late. Is there something you really want to talk about?
Allison: Yes.
Me: Don’t tell me you had a fight with Jayden?
Allison: As usual, you read my mind.
Me: What happened?
Allison: I won’t tell you here, Sally. Just come over, and I’ll tell you everything.
Me: Are you pulling my leg right now, Allison? *crying emoji* You know I can’t come over.
Allison: *sends a string of crying emojis* But I want to see you. I miss you so badly, big sis.
Me: Ugh! You’re really a handful, but fine, I’ll see you.
Allison: Really? *shocked emoji* How do you plan to do that, though? You said it’s late, and you can’t leave.
Me: I’m not coming over, dummy. There are other alternatives.
Allison: Hmm… And what’s the ‘other alternative’?
Me: Are you in your room right now?
Allison: Where else would I be? Jayden’s empty room?
“She’s nuts,” I thought, rolling my eyes and sitting up straight on the bed.
Me: Just stay by the window, okay? Let’s see each other from Colby’s room.
Allison: Oh my gosh, Sally, you’re so smart. Can you believe I actually forgot about that? Anyway, I’m already at the window. Come now!
I chuckled softly and sat up, straightening my clothes before leaving my room and heading to Colby’s door. There I was, facing his door, and soon, I would see Allison.
I really hoped he’d open the door for me and let me inside. I took a deep breath and knocked, but there was only silence. I noticed the door was slightly open, so I pushed it gently. Colby was sitting at his desk, facing his bright computer screen and staring intently at it.
He noticed me and immediately turned off the computer. “What are you doing here?” he asked, his eyes practically shooting daggers at me.
“I’m sorry, but I did knock,” I signed. “What were you doing? Were you watching porn?”
Colby’s face turned shocked, and he shook his head vehemently. “I wasn’t fucking watching that stuff. I was looking into something.”
I moved closer, grinning. “And what was that? You seemed really startled when I caught you.”
“Why the hell should I even answer that? And what the hell are you doing here? You know what? I don’t even need to know. Just get out.”
I’m sorry, Colby, but I can’t. I’ll have to disobey you. Without replying, I rushed to the window, slid the curtains aside, and saw a frowning Allison.
“Where were you?” she signed, pouting her lips. “I’ve been waiting!”
“Sorry,” I replied. “What’s up?”
“Allison?” I heard Colby say from behind me. I turned to see him standing there, looking at her like he was deeply in love all over again, his hands tucked in his pockets.
“Hey,” Allison chuckled, waving at him.
“Did she come here to see you?” he asked, and she nodded.
“Can you let her stay for a while?” she asked.
“Sure,” he smiled, rubbing the tip of his nose. “Anything for you.”
“Thanks,” she smiled back, and he left us alone.
I rolled my eyes before focusing on Allison, who smiled and shook her head. “Look at him. He’s still as sweet as ever. I’m glad we were able to settle our differences and get back to being friends.”
I drew the curtains to ensure Colby wouldn’t see us.
“Did happened between you two?” I asked curiously.
“Yeah,” she replied.
“You don’t expect me to ask what happened, right?” I frowned as I signed.
“Oh well, the thing is, he was mad that I was having a forbidden relationship with Jayden. We had a little fight then, but anyway, he later apologized, and I decided to forgive him. And yup! Here we are now.”
I blinked my eyes without saying anything, taking in the surprising turn of events.
“What?” Allison asked.
I only shook my head.
She smirked at me and moved closer before signing, “Are you still crushing on him?”
“He’s my stepbrother,” I replied quietly.
“Oops! Sorry,” she said out loud, laughing.
I grunted softly and rolled my eyes. “What do you want, Allison? You wanted to see me for something, didn’t you? What happened between you and Jayden?”
“Nah, I lied. Nothing happened.”
My eyes widened, and I signed quickly. “Then why were you dying to see me, Allison?”
“I just wanted to see your face, big sis,” she replied. “I missed you so much. Didn’t you miss me?”
A frown crossed my face.
“You lied to me?” I signed, my brows raised. “I don’t miss you!”
With that, I stormed off. I could hear her calling, “Sally! Come on. Don’t be mad.”
Too late-I was already mad. I met Colby standing in front of me, and my eyes widened. I looked up at his face and saw him giving me a villainous look. What did he want? I tried to move away from him by walking to the other side, but he stopped me, cornering me against the curtained window.
I swallowed nervously, feeling my back pressed against the window. “What is it?” I signed, both angry and anxious.
Had he forgotten how he acted towards me this morning? He must be crazy to think he could do this now.
“Can I have it now?” he whispered, his Adam’s apple bobbing as his face drew closer to mine.
My eyes widened as my hands slowly signed. “What’s that?”
“Your virginity,” he replied.
