Last Dare

Colby
It’s been a week since that forbidden encounter with Sally. I still don’t know how to feel about it. Do I feel regret? Yes. Did I feel intense pleasure? Absolutely. Would I do it again? Never!
That morning, I woke up feeling exhausted, especially after yesterday’s grueling rehearsal. We’d be having a small competition with another college in a few weeks, so the coach was pushing us hard. I wished school would resume quickly so we wouldn’t have to rush to the field for practice.
My eyes shifted to the clock, and I groaned. In just two hours, we’d start practicing. That meant I needed to get ready. I sat up, yawning and scratching my messy hair as I glanced at the door.
The door suddenly opened, and I composed myself. When I saw it was Yvonne, I frowned. “What are you doing in my room? And what happened to knocking?”
“Well, you should have shut your door in the first place,” she replied, rolling her eyes as she sat on the chair.
My glare hardened as I noticed her pouting, her face like a sulking child who’d had her favorite lollipop taken away.
“What is it, Yvonne?” I asked, growing irritated by her attitude. Did she still think I found her behavior charming?
“Can we just talk to Dad?” she sighed deeply, her eyes narrowing. “Let’s hold a meeting so we can talk some sense into that old man’s head. We don’t need a stepmother, and most certainly not that girl. I hate her and her whole family. Damn it!”
“You know there’s nothing we can do,” I sighed, running my hand through my hair. “We’ve already talked to Dad, and he isn’t doing anything about it. It seems he genuinely likes Stella.”
“Fuck it!” she yelled, her eyes red with anger. “Can’t we still do something?”
“Like what, Yvonne? Bully her daughter? Aren’t you already doing a great job at that? Oh, wait, she doesn’t seem to be the passive type because she fights back.”
“Colby, this isn’t funny one bit,” she warned, glaring at me.
“And I’m not laughing, little sister,” I said, pointing at my lips. “This is just a smirk.”
She sighed deeply, biting her bottom lip. “Hey, Colby.”
“What?” I sighed as well, already tired of her antics.
“Since I can’t bully her, how about you use her?” she proposed, a glint sharpening in her eyes.
My brows furrowed as I tried to make sense of her words. “I don’t understand, Yvonne. What are you suggesting?”
“Why don’t you use her, pretend to fall in love with her, make her fall stupidly in love with you, break her heart, and then use her however you want before dumping her?”
“And who is this ‘her’ you keep talking about?” I asked, my voice croaky, feigning ignorance.
“Come on, Colby! You know I’m talking about Sally,” she whispered, and I smirked.
“And why would I do that?” I asked.
“You’d be doing it for me, Colby. I want to teach her a lesson. She just annoys the hell out of me, and the fact that she used to be friends with those lizard siblings…”
She has been calling Jayden and Allison lizards lately, and she seemed to have forgotten that I don’t really like it.
“And what did I say about calling Allison a lizard?” I asked, scowling. But instead of taking me seriously, she laughed.
“Wait, don’t tell me you still have feelings for her?” she asked, pointing at my window, which had a clear view of Allison’s window outside. “You know she can never be yours?”
“Get out, Yvonne! Now! Before I really lose my mind.”
“No!” she snapped. “I’m not going anywhere until you agree to do it.”
“And I’m not doing that, you hear me? I won’t, so I guess I’ve answered your weird question. Can you leave now?”
Yvonne smirked, and I knew something wasn’t right. It was as if she had an even better plan and knew exactly what she was doing. I really didn’t like that smirk on her face. Not only did it look ugly, but it was also spooky.
“Yvonne,” I sighed, frustrated. “Can you just leave already, please?”
“Remember you owe me a dare, brother?” she said, and my eyes widened. Even though that happened a year ago, I still remembered that fucking ‘dare.’
It had been a normal night at her birthday party; we were having fun until we decided to play truth or dare. During the game, the bottle Yvonne spun pointed at me.
“Dare,” I had said that night, looking away and taking a puff from my vape.
It was weird to play this game with my sibling, but it wasn’t like I had a choice. I waited for her to give me the dare, praying she wouldn’t ask me a personal question. And in this game, if you chose truth but refused to answer, you’d have to kiss someone outside the game which the darer would choose, regardless of their gender. What if I had to kiss a guy? I wasn’t into that. Most of all, what if I had to kiss my game opponent? Fucking annoying!
I guess Yvonne wasn’t thrilled that I chose dare.
“Just dare me already, Yvonne,” I said, rolling my eyes in frustration.
“Nah, I think it’s weird to dare you, brother. Why did you even join this game when I’m here?”
I glanced at Allison, who was sitting quietly a few seats away, sipping her drink. I joined the game because of her, so Yvonne shouldn’t overthink it. Damn!
“You can dare me if you want, Yvonne.”
“You know what, I’ll save the dare for later, and when I think it’s the right time to dare you, I will. How’s that?” she asked, wearing a smile.
I growled lowly, chugged the entire glass of whisky, and stood up. “Do what you want, Yvonne.” I walked away.
“So, I guess we have a deal, brother?” Yvonne’s sinister voice brought me back, and I could only glare at her mischievous face, which now bore the most sly smirk.
