Logan’s POV
My mind was a tangled mess. Thoughts slipped through my grasp, impossible to hold onto as I struggled to stay present. Instead, I kept drifting back to the moment I first laid eyes on her. Finding my-well, our-mate had always felt like a distant possibility, something I never allowed myself to dwell on. And even if I had, I never would have imagined her. The little she-wolf standing before me was beyond anything I could have conjured in my wildest dreams. It was as if the Moon Goddess had taken every single thing I loved and woven them all together into this one perfect woman.
“Damn, baby girl, you smell incredible. I could drown in your scent,” I murmured, burying my face in her long, golden waves, inhaling the intoxicating mix of sweet and floral notes that clung to her. I traced my fingers through the silken strands, already imagining how they would feel tangled between my hands. “And these curls… I can’t wait to run my fingers through them.”
She gazed up at me with those breathtaking blue doe-eyes, their depth revealing a strength hidden beneath her delicate exterior. That look emboldened me, tempting me to push just a little further.
“I can’t wait to get my hands on these curves,” I admitted, trailing my hands over the contours of her toned yet feminine frame. The snug blue t-shirt and skinny jeans she wore only accentuated her flawless figure, and the urge to touch her was impossible to resist.
A small, flustered sound left her lips, and her cheeks flushed a delicate pink. But she didn’t pull away. The air thickened with the unmistakable scent of her arousal, and I took that as my cue to continue.
“And these lips…” I ran my thumb gently across them, marveling at their softness. “I’m aching to kiss you, just to see if they’re as soft as they look.”
She held my gaze, her eyes locking onto mine like she could see straight into my soul. And maybe she could. That thought should have terrified me, but instead, it was impossible to look away.
Inside me, my wolf prowled impatiently, restless and demanding to take control.
“Let me see mate! I want to talk to her!” Fang growled inside my head.
“Not now, Fang! We already pinned her to the wall-we don’t want to scare her,” I snapped back. I had meant to play it cool, but the moment I saw her, instinct had taken over.
“She’s not scared of us. Her wolf told me so!” he huffed, sulking before retreating into the recesses of my mind.
The truth was, I was just as much to blame as he was. I wanted to hold her, to feel the warmth of her body pressed against mine, to drown myself in her scent. And to my surprise, she let me-for a few precious moments, at least. That was until Liam’s voice shattered our bubble of intimacy, dragging us back into reality.
After the tension from earlier, I couldn’t believe how smoothly things seemed to be going now.
“Naia, where do you keep the salad bowls?” Lia asked our head Omega, completely at ease in our kitchen. She flitted about, moving with a natural grace, and I couldn’t take my eyes off her.
“It’s so damn hot watching her move around like that,” Fang growled hungrily. “Those jeans hug her ass perfectly every time she bends or reaches for something.”
I swallowed hard, my own control slipping.
“I’ve never seen anything more beautiful in my life. And her scent… fuck, I can practically taste it,” I agreed, my wolf snarling in restless frustration. But we both knew we had to be patient. That time would come.
“For now, I’ll settle for just being close to her.”
Fang, usually the fiercest part of me, surprised me by admitting, “We’ve never actually cuddled with a woman before. I kind of want to try it.”
I smirked. “What happened to my ruthless wolf? Is our mate turning you into a soft little pup?”
His answering growl rumbled through my mind, but he didn’t deny it. Truthfully, I felt the same way. I’d never wanted to cuddle before. But with her? I would make an exception.
Mine.
She was already mine, and I would kill anyone who tried to take her from me.
There was still so much we didn’t know about each other, but none of it mattered. She was more than I ever could have dreamed of in a Luna. If the Moon Goddess had made a mistake in gifting her to me, then it was too late to take her back. I would never let her go.
After dinner, we sat around the kitchen, talking and laughing. I had never been one for the domestic life, but in that moment-surrounded by the people who mattered most, with her at my side-I felt a peace I hadn’t known in years.
That was, until Naia decided to entertain everyone with a collection of “Logan and Liam’s Most Embarrassing Moments.”
I groaned internally. The last thing I needed was for my baby girl to hear about every dumb thing I had done as a kid.
“Okay, dinner’s over!” I cut in, grabbing Lia’s hand and pulling her toward the door.
Liam, thankfully, took the hint and followed, leaving Naia laughing behind us. Lia shot me a bewildered look, trying to keep up with my sudden urgency. But honestly, I was excited to show her around. Liam and I loved our packhouse-it was big, but it had warmth, history, and character.
“Let’s start with the view from the back deck,” Liam suggested.
“Yeah, sounds good.” I turned to look at him, nodding.
Then I turned back-and my stomach dropped.
Shit. Shit. Shit.
Coming straight toward me was Rowena.
The last person I wanted to see.
The she-wolf from our pack. My most recent mistake.
Of all the damn nights… Why couldn’t I have just one night of happiness before my past came back to ruin everything?
The worst part? I didn’t even remember sleeping with her. I had woken up with her in my bed, a mistake I’d been avoiding ever since. But the determined glint in her eyes told me that avoidance was no longer an option.
And of course, she had to confront me right in front of Lia.
I clenched my jaw, steeling myself for what was coming.
