Lily
“I’m so fucking sorry, Lily. If I knew it was that bad, I wouldn’t have…” Mia’s voice buzzes through the mind-link, all guilty and whiny.
I sigh hard, kicking my feet in the air before letting them slam down onto the bed. “It’s alright. I’m just… so fucking exhausted.”
“And he’s still refusing to talk to you?”
“Yeah,” I groan, rolling onto my side to stare at the wall like it holds all the answers to my miserable love life. “He’s at the cafe right now. I went there, like, three times already, and he wouldn’t even look at me. Mia… do you think he wants to end things?”
Mia scoffs so loud I flinch. “No, you silly girl! He’s just mad. He’ll come around. Trust me.”
I sigh again, dragging my hands over my face. “I hope so. I feel so fucking shitty. Chris has been nothing but amazing and here I am… screwing things up.”
“Lily, don’t be like that! This is my fault… and maybe Theo’s… okay, definitely mostly mine.” Mia sounds genuinely guilty, but there’s still that playful tone underneath.
“It’s alright,” I mumble, picking at the edge of the blanket. “As you said, he’ll come around. Anyway, what about that bastard?”
“Aaron?”
“Yeah,” I confirm, sitting up straighter.
“I don’t know what to do with him, Lil. He’s been pestering me nonstop, but if I tell Damon? Oh goddess, it’ll be a fucking bloodbath.”
I snort. “You should tell him, though. Damon deserves to know. Keeping secrets never ends well…you know that.”
“I’ll handle it,” she insists.
“Or, you could just kick him in the nuts next time he tries something.” I grin, imagining it.
Mia bursts out laughing. “I’ll keep that in mind! He’s not even around right now. Went out with his cousin, Max.” She pauses before adding, “By the way, have you heard from Aria? I’ve been trying to call her for hours. When the fuck is that wolfsbane gonna wear off so we can mind-link her again?”
I groan, flopping back onto the bed. “No clue. And I don’t think she wants anything to do with the Shadow Pang Pack right now. Maybe Lucas can convince her to come back so she’ll reconnect to the mind-link. Though… I did call her a little while ago.”
“And? What did she say? ‘Cause she’s been ignoring me all day!” Mia whines dramatically.
“Well…” I hesitate, biting my lip, “I didn’t exactly talk to her. I, uh… heard some weird-ass noises. Like… moaning. So, I hung up.”
There’s silence for a second before Mia explodes with laughter. “WAIT…did you say moaning?”
“Yup,” I say, cringing. I can already feel where this is heading.
“They were DEFINITELY fucking!” Mia chuckles.
“Mia!” I scold, but I can’t help but laugh.
“Don’t Mia me! You know Aria and Lucas are absolute sex maniacs. I mean, Damon and I get down, but those two? They’re like fucking addicts. It’s insane!”
I snort, covering my face. “Must be nice, huh? Speaking of sex… Theo’s all worked up ’cause Kim said she’s ready now.”
“No fucking way! You’re telling me you and Theo have mates for almost a year and still haven’t fucked?” Mia gasps like I’ve committed a crime.
“MIA!” My face burns.
“I’m just saying!” she teases. “Honestly, I think the Moon Goddess made a mistake. You and Theo are like two peas in a pod. You should’ve been mates.”
I shake my head, grinning. “Nope! We’re just friends. I love Chris. I don’t regret having him as my mate.”
“But you used to be in love with Theo, you know,” Mia adds.
“MIA!” I practically yell out loud this time.
Right then, the door swings open, and Chris steps in, catching me mid-shout. His eyes meet mine instantly.
“Chris!” I jump off the bed.
“Just came to check on you. And, of course, you’re still talking to Mia,” he mutters, turning right back around to leave.
“Chris, wait!” I rush after him, but he slams the door before I can reach him.
“Fuck!” I tug at my hair, pacing the room in frustration.
Mia’s voice cuts in again through the mind-link. “Lily? What the hell just happened? You went silent.”
“Chris walked in and heard me yelling your name. Now he’s all pissed that I’m still talking to you,” I explain, still pacing.
“What the fuck,” she hisses. “Is he, like, jealous of our friendship or something?”
“Mia, stop!” I huff. “I’m serious. This is bad.”
“Okay, okay, calm down, Lil,” she says, but I can hear the amusement in her voice.
“I CAN’T!” I shout, flopping back on the bed again. “I just keep making things worse.”
She sighs deeply. “Alright, fine. You’ve helped me through my messes a million times, so now it’s my turn to help you.”
I raise a brow. “And how, exactly, do you plan on doing that?” I cross my arms, skeptical.
“Go to your black box. In the side pocket, there’s a little gift from me,” she says mischievously.
“Mia…” I narrow my eyes, instantly suspicious. “What the hell is this?”
“Just trust me, okay?” she insists.
I groan but get up and head to the closet. I pull out my black box and unzip the side pocket, taking a deep breath before reaching in. My fingers close around a small package, and I yank it out.
Holding it up, I eye it warily. “What. The. Fuck. Is this?”
Mia giggles through the link. “Open it and find out, duh!”
This girl is going to be the death of me
