Rosalind fell silent for a few seconds, then nodded stiffly. “Well, whatever you decide is definitely the best for you.”
“That’s right! After all, if I become a stepmother, I won’t be a kind one!”
Rosalind looked at Tilda, who was forcing a smile, but the joke wasn’t funny at all.
Little did they know, Johnny hadn’t left all night.
He stood outside Tilda’s apartment the entire time, exhausted. He sat on the steps, leaning against the wall.
It felt like this was the only way to be a little closer to her.
At least it was better than staying alone at his villa.
The next morning, just as Johnny fell asleep for a moment, he felt someone in front of him!
He immediately woke up and looked up. “Ulric?!”
Ulric furrowed his brows and leaned down to cover Johnny’s mouth.
“Keep your voice down. I can’t let Rosalind see me here.”
Ulric glanced at the door of the apartment and spoke in a low voice, “Come with me.”
“Oh.”
Johnny got up from the steps, his feet numb. He stumbled a few times and almost fell.
Two tall figures descended the stairs, both of them outstanding in appearance. Fortunately, it was still early and there weren’t many people in the neighborhood. Otherwise, there would definitely be people secretly taking photos.
To avoid drawing attention, Ulric deliberately drove Cedric’s car.
“Let’s talk in the car.”
As soon as they got in the car, Johnny started asking questions. “How did you come back?”
Ulric had already told Johnny about what had happened between him and Rosalind, so he thought Ulric would be in Nova Zealandia during this time.
“I’m worried about her.”
Well, what else could it be?
“You’re also miserable.” Johnny thought for a moment and added, “Even more miserable than me.”
Ulric furrowed his brows and looked at Johnny through the rearview mirror. “No, I’m not as miserable as you. At least I have two children.”
“Tilda didn’t agree, did she?” He could tell by Johnny’s expression.
Johnny muttered a few words. Now that he sat in a comfortable seat, drowsiness began to overwhelm him.
“She begged me to let her go.”
Ulric didn’t say anything. He just looked out the car window towards where Rosalind lived.
“Ulric, I’m fucked.”
Except for Tilda, he felt like he would never love anyone again in his life.
“Ulric, can you stop looking? Rosalind won’t come out anyway!”
Ulric finally withdrew his gaze and gave him a cold glance. “Then why did you spend the whole night outside her door refusing to leave? Tilda won’t agree to keep the baby anyway.”
“Tsk!” Johnny propped himself up and pouted. “We’re all desperate. Let’s not hurt each other! Do you dare say that you suddenly came back to the country not because Malcolm was here in this apartment until it got dark yesterday?”
Ulric pressed his lips.
“I won’t expose you. Just don’t start with me.”
Ulric’s face immediately darkened, filled with displeasure.
“It seems like you’ve accepted that Tilda doesn’t want to keep the baby.”
“What else can I do? She said she doesn’t want to be a stepmother and can’t accept Caroline’s child! If it were me, I couldn’t accept that either. Whatever decision she makes, I have no right to blame her.”
He only hated himself for not having any solutions!
“The root of your problem is because of your ex-girlfriend’s child?”
“That’s right. Otherwise, she won’t forgive me.”
Ulric reached out his hand, took a blood test result from the glove compartment, and threw it to Johnny.
“What’s this?”
“The blood test result for your ex-girlfriend’s child.”
