Tilda turned back in astonishment.
“You-”
“I went to Central Union Hospital and checked your medical records.”
Tilda was stunned.
Johnny bit his lip, holding back tears in front of Tilda.
“Are you going to get rid of the child I’ve been longing for?”
“Say something! Don’t you want him anymore?”
Tilda dug her nails into her flesh, avoiding eye contact with him, afraid of softening.
“We shouldn’t have had him in the first place.”
“Tilda, you promised me. You said you would have a child with me! You said you loved me! Why can something from two years ago make you take back everything you gave me overnight?” Johnny stood in front of Tilda, half immersed in darkness, appearing silent and lonely. “I was wrong before, terribly wrong. I used to think that the most attractive thing in this world was pleasure, and the thing I avoided the most was feelings. But after meeting you, I truly wanted to change!”
Their time together wasn’t long, but Johnny really did revolve around Tilda whenever he wasn’t at work.
When she worked, he was there with her. When she came home, he immediately followed with car keys in hand.
To get her parents’ approval, Johnny didn’t hesitate to kneel down and promise. He just wanted to show them his utmost sincerity!
But why did everything suddenly disappear?
Now that Johnny was back at that villa, everywhere he looked, there were traces of Tilda-how they brushed their teeth together and how they playfully wrestled on the couch. Even the bedroom was filled with her scent! That almost drove him crazy. That was why he decided to leave Northville City!
Tilda’s lips moved a few times.
But in the end, she said, “I don’t want to see you anymore.”
“Can you keep the baby?”
“Didn’t Rosalind leave Ulric and still give birth to his child-”
Tilda looked up at him. “Can you compare yourself to Ulric? He hasn’t even touched another woman’s finger! He and Rosalind didn’t end up together because of his mother, not because Ulric did something wrong! But what about you? Can you count how many women you’ve been with?”
“Today it’s Caroline, tomorrow there might be other women! Johnny, I can’t accept any of this! Once trust collapses, I’ll live in constant fear, afraid that another incident like this will happen again! I’m afraid that we’ll argue every day until we’re completely exhausted and fed up with each other. In that case, why bother staying together?”
Johnny fell silent.
He had nothing to say.
He couldn’t guarantee that his ex-girlfriends wouldn’t come looking for him again. Even if they didn’t come with a child, there would still be trouble due to his past relationships.
“Johnny, if you’re a man, go back to Caroline. Right now, she needs you more than I do. Your daughter needs her father.”
“But I don’t love her…”
“Does it matter now whether you love her or not?” Tilda silently distanced herself from him and spoke in a deep voice, “You love me, but we can’t be together.”
“Tilda…”
“Johnny, please give me a way out too. I’m still young. I don’t want to be a single mother or get caught up in conflicts with a group of women! Please leave. Consider it my plea.”
