Ethan’s P. O. V
“You know, I might never be able to trust Rogue Wolves.” I told Andara Specta, my voice loud and clear enough for anyone within earshot to hear.
Andara nodded. “I know our attacks in the past were wrong, but you also need to recognize your own mistakes. We can’t just keep pointing fingers when all of us have our fair share of faults.”
I scoffed, feeling my anger flare up. “Cut the small talk. Just tell me why the hell you’re here!” I snapped.
Seriously. If she were a man, the first thing I’d do is land a punch right on her face. But she was lucky-just an old woman who once served as an Elder for the Moon Fall Pack and the only person who treated Claire decently when those damn Rogue Wolves kidnapped her and took her to their settlement.
“I don’t appreciate being rushed like this, Alpha,” Andara said, her tone calm but firm. “But knowing your temper, we don’t have time to waste. This is about Lady Torrance.”
Lucy? What the hell does she have to do with this? Did this old woman overhear my conversation with Chen Lien?
“Alright, spill it. What about Lucy?” I asked, curiosity laced with frustration.
Not only was I eager to hear what she had to say, but I also wanted answers about Chen Lien’s report. How the hell did Lucy find another route to my Pack without any of my Warriors knowing?
“This happened just today, right at noon,” Andara started. “We had just finished hunting a few wild boars for our food supply. As usual, we skinned them by the river to keep the meat fresh. But while we were cleaning up, we caught the scent of unfamiliar wolves.”
I listened carefully. It didn’t seem relevant at first, but the way Andara looked told me there was more-something way bigger than just some rogue wolves smelling strangers.
“Go on,” I ordered.
“We saw members of Lady Torrance’s Pack walking alongside Shadow Warriors, heading through the forest toward the city.”
“What the hell did you just say?!” I roared, shattering the silence of the once-peaceful Terara Lake.
All eyes turned to me, but unlike the others, Chen Lien stepped in front of me, as if trying to keep me from lashing out at Andara.
“Don’t do anything stupid. Just listen,” he warned.
I clenched my fists. I had no choice but to hear her out. Not only had I just received the worst news possible, but now I was also thinking of the worst punishment for the Pack that helped that damn fake Alpha infiltrate mine.
“Fine. Keep talking,” I commanded.
Andara nodded and continued, picking up where she left off.
“The Wolf guards from Lady Torrance’s father’s Pack guided them through the safest route-far from your Warriors’ patrols. They even gave them weapons that could take down my people if they were spotted. So, for the safety of everyone in my group, I ordered them to stay hidden and not engage.”
“Then why the hell didn’t you tell me sooner?”
“Because some of the Shadow Warriors were stationed around the forest and near your Packhouse’s borders. We couldn’t risk making a move. They were prepared for this, ever since we last made our agreement. And Lady Torrance-she’s smart enough to plan all of this out.”
Lucy. Oh, I swear, I’m gonna make you suffer. I’ll kill you so slowly even the Grim Reaper will lose patience waiting for your soul. You really wanna play this game with me, Lucy?
“So, are they using the same route to get back?”
Chen Lien shook his head. “I doubt it. Since they’re with Lucy Torrance, they’ve probably already taken the main route to escape. And let’s be real, your Warriors wouldn’t dare disobey Lucy’s orders-she is your fiancee, after all.”
I let out a dark chuckle. “What kind of fiancee betrays me like this?” I muttered, glancing down at the lifeless bodies of my fallen Warriors. They lay in neat rows on the ground, waiting for the medics to retrieve them and prepare them for burial tomorrow.
I motioned for one of my Warriors to come closer. He sprinted over immediately. I patted his shoulder and ordered, “Go and announce to the entire Pack that our agreement with the Torrance family is over. I want every single one of their Pack members wiped out-leave no survivors. And bring me Sir Torrance’s head. As for Lucy… if she resists, cut off her arms and legs. But don’t kill her-not until I do it myself.”
The Warrior looked shaken by my command, but he didn’t dare protest. He simply nodded and ran off to use the special communication device that only the Warriors of our Pack had. It allowed them to connect with each other, whether they were on duty or not.
I could hear him repeating my exact words over the radio-every single one. And just as I was expecting a delay in response since it was already late, I was proven wrong.
The news of the attack on the Terara Lake cabin had already spread among the Warriors and guards. Many had wanted to rush here and help, but their superiors ordered them to stay at their posts in case more enemies tried to strike the city.
And damn, my Warriors were efficient. They had already secured the entire city and evacuated the elderly and children to the bunkers to avoid any unnecessary casualties. No wonder the roads seemed empty on my way here. That was the reason-they had already taken action.
“Alpha,” Andara called my name, pulling my attention back. “Lady Halle might have been taken by Christopher Gale. But I’m sure he won’t harm her just yet. We still have time to find her-but not in the Moon Fall Pack. Somewhere else.”
