Ethan P. O. V

I stepped out of the car to check out the situation, and I was taken aback by a sister whose clothes were in tatters, tied up, and kneeling right in front of me. The nurse was pleading for her freedom.
I looked over at the dorm, and it was pitch black. The lights that should’ve been on were entirely out. The people there were staring at me like they were ready to pounce.
I’ve seen that kind of look before, so it didn’t faze me. But seeing them hold a woman hostage and knowing there could be more people trapped in the dorm made my stomach turn.
I’ll be honest. I know I’m not the best person. My name’s been linked to drug dealing, murder, human trafficking, and all sorts of shady stuff. But I’ve never used a woman as a human shield like they’re doing now.
“Hand her over to us, Alpha Ethan.”
Is it that simple for you to ask for my most valued possession?
“She’s ours, Alpha Ethan.”
I couldn’t help but laugh at that. Hers, huh? Who would be bold enough to claim that in front of me? Do they really think they can dictate my actions right now? This is just absurd.
“Who makes that call? Is it your Alpha who said that?” I chuckled at the end, and I could see it threw them off a bit, leaving them a little rattled by my response.
They exchanged glances, still on high alert. I have to give them credit; they’re doing a decent job, especially considering they’re just servants, mere wolf warriors.
I spotted the nurse who was still being held captive. Her hands were tied behind her back, and even though her mouth was free, she didn’t dare to say a word, almost like someone had threatened her into silence, leaving her powerless to resist what those people were doing to her.
Then, I turned my gaze toward the dorm. I remembered Claire mentioning her brother, who was a foster kid there, and I couldn’t help but wonder if he was still trapped with all those people, preventing any escape.
Suddenly, I was taken by surprise when one of them charged at me, trying to stab me with a dagger. I quickly dodged and fired my shotgun at him.
Gunfire echoed through the night. After one of their guys went down, the rest came rushing at me, weapons drawn. But I stood my ground, shotgun ready, and kept fighting.
Blood was splattered all over the place, staining my already dirty clothes and the car hood. It was a gruesome scene that I really didn’t want to witness.
One of the shots grazed my shoulder, but it was just a minor cut-nothing serious. However, when I pulled the trigger on my shotgun, it took his head clean off.
“Cut it out, Alpha, or we’ll take this woman out!” one of them warned, pressing a gun against the nurse’s forehead. “We need you to cooperate, Alpha Ethan. He’s one of our Pack.”
“Really? You just want her to be-”
“S-sister Maria?”
Claire’s voice called out from behind me. When I spun around, she was in my suit, her legs shaking like crazy.
I couldn’t believe she had the guts to pull this off. Why didn’t she just stay put? She could’ve waited in the car until those jerks were gone. Seriously! What am I supposed to do now?
“Turn yourself in, Claire Halle, or you will see this woman die.” The man threatened.
“N-no! Please don’t hurt her, I’ll do anything-”
“You are nuts!” I cursed at her.
I rushed to her when I noticed a group of people getting ready to grab her. I wrapped my arms around her while firing at the attackers. Claire suddenly yelled out Sister Maria’s name so loudly that it shook her voice right as the gunfire erupted.
I turned to see where the noise was coming from. It’s never just one person involved in a crime like this. Sister Maria was shot in the head and didn’t make it.
Click! Click!
“Damn it!” I swore again when my shotgun ran out of bullets.
While holding Claire close, I reached behind her suit and pulled out a revolver I had stashed there. Thankfully, Claire hadn’t noticed it when she put the suit on.
I fired at them, and while some shots missed, others found their mark, creating deadly holes in their skulls. Claire was screaming, calling out for Sister Maria, and begging me to let her go to save her family.
Amid the chaos and with only a few bullets left in my revolver, Danny and the rest of my crew finally showed up. They started firing at the men without hesitation, taking down anyone who dared to come near us.
“No! Let me go. I want to save sister Alberta and the rest of my family!”
“You’re going to die, you silly!” I said as I tried to pull her back into the car.
“No! Sister Alberta, my mother is still there!”
“Think about it later-“My words trailed off when a guy lunged at Claire, trying to scratch her. I quickly stepped in front of her, taking the hit myself.
I felt the blood streaming down my back. The pain was intense. With the remaining bullets I had, I fired at the guy’s chest until he dropped dead. But then, more people showed up, all trying to get their hands on Claire. They were relentless, using every trick in the book, even with my crew doing their best to fend them off.
Boom!
The blast left us in shock. Claire turned pale instantly. The loud explosion came from the dormitory, and she started to panic, begging to be let go. But I couldn’t do that; I needed her too much to let her slip away.
“No! Help! Andy, Vicky, Sister Alberta! They’re still in there! Please save them!” Claire pleaded with me, tears streaming down her face, her breathing heavy and frantic. She looked like she was on the verge of a panic attack.
I glanced at the dormitory, and it was engulfed in flames. There wasn’t a single part that had escaped the fire. I couldn’t shake the feeling that survival was nearly impossible in such a fierce blaze, and it seemed unlikely anyone could still be alive amidst all this chaos.
“Alpha! You better get out of here now!” Danny shouted amid the sound of bullets.
“No! Please, sister Alberta is still inside! My mother is still there! Please help her! Please!”
“Alpha, get out of here!”
Danny shoved me into the car while the others did their best to shield us, making sure not a single bullet found its mark again, especially with those trying to snatch Claire away from me.
Claire was still fighting back. She tried to escape the car, even though I had difficulty getting her inside. I tightly wrapped my arms around her and pulled her back in despite her loud protests.
“Get us out of here, now!” Danny yelled at the driver as we sped away from the church, leaving behind chaos that claimed more lives than I ever imagined.
