I wanted to leave and not wait up, but that might give me away. That means I had no choice but to lie if he asks me about the drugs. I waited patiently till he got to where I was.
“Hey Mary. What is popping? Oh my! my! my! Are you Glowria? Because you are glowing.” Xander said winking, I rolled my eyes at his cheesiness.
“Wait what, you don’t believe me?” He asked.
“What do you want Xander?” I replied boredly.
“That means you don’t believe me, I am hurt by that.” He replied, feigning hurt by holding his chest as if he was in pain.
“Whatever.” I mumbled.
“But I am really serious, I have always had it in mind to ask you about your skin routine, you have been looking fresh, no blemishes at all.” He said and he looked serious, I made a note to really check out my face in the mirror once I get home.
“Oh! Thank you.” I replied, giving him a smile.
“It makes me remember how my mum used to glow before she gave birth to my little brother. He is four now.” That wiped off the smile from my face. Yes, this was part of a pregnancy symptom. I was still in the early stage of my pregnancy. Oh damn! I have started showing more symptoms, I can’t believe I forgot about the symptoms. Luckily the frequent urination has reduced, but the early morning sickness was still there.
“Mary, are you okay. You just zoned out me.” Xander said, snapping me out of my thoughts.
“Oh, sorry. I just… I… You…” I stuttered, not knowing the right excuse to give.
“Anyway. I just wanted to ask if you will be coming to the party tomorrow,” He asked.
“Aminat will be coming,” He added in a rush.
“Oh! Yes. Sure, I will be coming.” I replied, taking a sharp breath.
“Okay then, I will text you the address. But make sure you dress sexy.” He said, winking.
He was about to leave, but he paused. I was already relieved that he didn’t ask me about the drugs. I was about to turn around and leave too.
“Mary, wait a minute.”
“Ugh! What is it again Xander?”
“I want to ask you something, can you move closer?” He asked, I moved towards him slowly, he looked around and then brought his mouths towards my ear.
“Do you have anything that belongs to me, maybe a tiny little thing fell from my pocket and you probably took it, I know you are just helping me out by keeping it for me, can you give it back now?” He asked, my eyes widened in shock for a nanosecond, but I immediately masked it up.
Damn! I was not expecting this question. But Xander was really smart, I give him kudos for asking me about the drugs in this way, but I have to show him I am smarter.
“What are you talking about?” I asked, pretending I was confused.
“Did you lose something, damn! I hope it is not something important. Come, let’s go look for it. I will help you with it.” I said, feigning ignorance as I pulled his hands.
“No, no. You are getting it wrong. I… I… I… ” He stammered. I fought the urge to smile.
“Don’t bother, see you later Mary.” He said walking away.
There is literally nothing to worry about, I will make sure I don’t give out his name to Vanessa if she asks me. I chuckled softly as I watched him hurry down the hall.
“What is making you laugh?” I heard a voice ask, I hissed immediately I saw who it was.
I straightened my skirt and smoothened my hair, before cocking my eyes in a subtle way of masking a confusion look.
“Whatever you are going to ask, my answer is no.” I say before he can open his mouth to say another word to me.
“No?” He asked.
“Do you even know what I am here to say, wow! Seems like you don’t like me at all.”
“I really don’t have time to waste with you Alphonso.” I replied, trying to take my leave.
“I was just about to apologize for my stupid act.” He says, making me halt.
“That’s if apologizing works for every single mistake we make in this world.” I said walking away, he caught up with me and we began to walk towards the class back.
“I know if it works that way, then we won’t even have laws or law agents guiding us.” He replied, sauntering into the classroom in a slow easy way. I was a little bit captivated by his confident walk, he walked ahead of me with his hands in his pants pocket. I couldn’t even resist checking his ass out.
He walked towards his desk as I followed behind, his girlfriend gave me a quick glance before focusing back on him, probably to question him for walking with me.
“Mary,” I heard Justin call out. I looked towards his direction, raising a brown in question.
“Check your phone,” He mouthed. I walked to my seat, and brought out my phone from my backpack.
There was a pop up message from Justin.
Can I go with you to the party tomorrow, pretty please. I promise to do whatever you want.
I rolled my eyes, I wonder why he insists on coming. Justin is simply trouble, I won’t allow him tag along. His hatred for Mikhail was enough reason to prevent him from going with me.
“No.” I mouthed back to him. He pouted his lips and mouthed please.
“I will think about it,” I mouthed back to him.
Aminat seems to be engrossed in something she was reading on her phone.
“What are you reading?” I asked, trying to peep.
“Nothing,” she said too quick as she hid her phone.
“Hmm..”
“What? O D Eleven just released a new story.” She said, shrugging her shoulders.
I just stared at her, making sure she knows I don’t believe it was nothing.
“Come on! Don’t give me that look. You make it seem like I am doing something dirty.” She whispered.
“Anyway, have you heard we are having a new student?” She asked, trying to change the subject.
“I think it is just a rumor.”
“I don’t think so, I overheard the Principal discussing it with Mr Lucas. He is resuming on Monday.”
“He?”
