I found out Vanessa, Justin’s mum suffers from a strange ailment. She forgets things for a few minutes and remembers them later on. She made me realize she doesn’t want to be pitied and I don’t pity her at all, instead I admire her.
Monday morning came earlier than expected and I was nervous, I am spending the rest of my senior year in a new school and the worst of it was that it was already four months into the senior year, which literally means I had a lot to catch up with in class.
Luxurious stars is a private school, the best in Minazuela. They make use of uniforms in here compared to Beverly Dale high school. I sighed as I looked at my reflection. The school uniform fitted me to perfection, maybe because I was adding more flesh because of the baby. The uniform was wine, deep blue and white. My deep blue plaid skirt reached my knee, a deep blue plaid tie which matched the skirt, rested on the white shirt under the wine jacket with a glittering edge and a circular black space with the inscription LS.
I adjusted my hair which Vanessa braided and parked into a bun, she said it brings out my beauty. For a second, I wondered what she was talking about, because I know I have no beauty.
I already went through my schedule for today, It was stored in the tablet I was given. I was told everyone in school makes use of the tablet because it contains all needed information and all course outlines.

Juliet already made it clear to me that she didn’t want to move with me when the driver dropped us at the school gate, I didn’t mind either. Justin was a bit hesitant to walk with me, but he said he was going to do it for today. To be honest, I was nervous as we both walked into the midst of students, Justin was not even bothered at all. I can’t blame him, he was used to it. I hope no one notices me or get the fact that I am pregnant, it was not that obvious yet. But I am sure it will soon start getting noticeable.
People stared at me, but no word was said. No insults or whatsoever and I was really glad.
“I won’t be able to go with you to the changing room, but I can take you to the locker room. The changing room for you sexy ladies is restricted for we hot dudes, even though some of us find our way in there to have some fun. Juliet would have been the best person to show you around, to bad you both started off badly.”
“But wait a minute, we have another new set of students that are supposed to resume today. Scholarship students. Quick advice, try to be friends with them. I heard they are from the slum, but you can try them out if they don’t stink.”
I nodded my head in response, forcing a smile.
“Justin.” Someone called out, he immediately left me and followed the girl who didn’t even spare me a glance.
Now, I was on my own without any guide, it is not like Justin was a good guide though.
I looked around me, trying to find someone I could attach myself with, but they all seem to be minding their own businesses. I saw three students standing together, two males and a female with a hijab, she wasn’t wearing a skirt like the rest of us females, instead she was wearing a pant like the males. The only thing I could depict with her hijab is that, she is a Muslim. The three of them seems to be kind of close, lucky set of people. The only thing that seems to be odd about them is that they didn’t fit into the crowd and they were all looking around strangely like me.
I made up my mind and walked towards them.
“Hey.” I said out loud, bringing their attention to me. My mouth formed into an O shape immediately I caught a look of the girl in hijab. She was really beautiful with the most amazing set of eyes I have ever seen, brown eyes that remind me of thick caramel chocolate.
The boys were not too bad either, the one at the left was tall and skinny with curly hair, he looked calm and gentle. And don’t let me forget the fact that he is so hairy and he has a cute smile. The one at the right has a frown on his face, he was tall and muscular. They all seem to be shocked by my approach. I sensed they were the new scholarship students.
“Can you help me find my way around here, I am a new student here.” I said softly.
“Oh! We are also new students, but we are here on scholarship. I don’t think you should be seen with people like us.” The skinny one said, raising an eyebrow as he looked me over.
“You rich barbies don’t move with the slum rats. You are better off without us.” He added.
I wanted to tell them I was a daughter of a maid even if that would allow them to relate with me. But I know better, it might be used against me later on.
“Come on Xander, let her be. If she doesn’t mind who we are, then it is fine if she wants to walk with us.” The girl in hijab said.
“If you say so Ami, but are you sure your brother is going to like this?” The boy called Xander asked, shifting his gaze to the other boy who hasn’t said a word since I approached them.
“Mikhail, you have not uttered a word since we stepped into this trap of a school.” Xander said, trying to get him to talk.
“Just move, I don’t want to get late to class.” Mikhail replied him, he left us standing and began to walk ahead. We joined him and followed behind closely.
It was like he knows his way around here.
“Ami, any rules and regulations we should be aware of?” Xander asked.
“Your phone, we are not allowed to bring our phones. No gadgets are allowed except from the school gadgets, and you should be aware they are monitored, don’t even try doing illegal stuffs with them.”
“Seems like someone read the whole handbook containing the regulations.” Xander teased.
I was quite, I just paid attention to their banters and talks. They seem to be very close. We walked into a place that looked like the school’s swimming pool area. We paused to look at the swimmers, they were practicing, a particular guy seems to be winning, a girl with a short hair was cheering him up. He won, but he didn’t look so happy with it. Suddenly everyone around the pool seems to notice us, including the swimmer. Our eyes met. I stared at him, transfixed by his eyes. They say green is the strongest color because it ignites the new season after the passing of wintry days, His green gem stone eyes reminds me of emerald gem. They contrasted perfectly with his black hair, he held my gaze for a minute. Those eyes were hiding coldness and something else I couldn’t decipher.
I didn’t even notice my new acquaintance left me already, till the girl Hijab called.
“Hey.” She yelled out. Damn, I realized late. Now everyone will think I am stupid. I caught a smirk on his face before I ran to join them.
“Saw something or should I say someone that caught your attention?” She asked, giving me a teasing look.
“Give her a few days and she will be running to kiss his feet.” Xander said, kissing his teeth loudly.
“Damn, Ami. I wonder who is going to die this term. I heard no death has been recorded yet and that’s unusual.” Xander added.
“Death?” I asked confusedly.
“Yes, there is a rumor that death is always recorded every term in here. That is some scary shit though.”
I just nodded my head in response, this was the first time I was hearing this and it is kind of shocking to me.
“Hey, you haven’t told us your name. I’m Aminat Akash. My brother over there is Mikhail Akash and that is Xander Andrews.” The girl in hijab said smiling widely.
“But you can call me Ami.” She added.
“I am Mary Davies.” I replied, returning the smile.
“It is nice meeting you.” I added.
I couldn’t help but notice the fact that Xander’s last name sounded familiar. But it can’t be possible, there is no way he can be related to the Andrews. Xander is from the slum and the Andrews are wealthy people. It is just a coincidence, I reassured myself.
“You have got a nice name,” Xander commented.
“Thank you,” I replied, smiling at him. Xander has a calm and gentle face but he is a talkative. He didn’t stop commenting about people’s look as a side joke to us and I also couldn’t stop myself from laughing at his joke.
“Can you just shut your mouth,” Mikhail suddenly said, turning around to face Xander.
He became quiet.
“Talking like a parrot won’t stop you from being nervous Xander, I know you are nervous to enter the class, no one is going to eat you. Relax.” Mikhail added calmly.
