If my mum noticed the change in my mood, and the bitterness I felt at the pit of my stomach. She wasn’t saying anything, but I caught her staring on three occasions.
Something was taken away from me and it made me feel incomplete. I felt empty, like something was missing from me.
The air of tension that hung over me made me feel distressed. The hate I felt for Hawk Andrews knew no bounds. I have not even spent half a month here in Beverly Dale and this was happening to me, why was I ill fortune, this was bad luck already. My mum must not find out about this. Last night still felt more like a dream to me, the more I think about it, the more heavy my heart gets.
Nothing had happened between Hawk and I since last night. He didn’t even try to apologize. He ignored me totally like I didn’t exist. Then I knew and fully realized, I was only a game to him. No words have been passed between us, just a minimum eye contact. I didn’t even dare to address him, I wasn’t that bold, and he didn’t even try to approach him.
The few times I caught him staring, his stern look was filled with repugnance, and hate oozed from his gaze. There was no way we could ever get close. The chasm between us died unspoken.
I hated him with so much passion.
“Mary, would you like to help out in making dinner, the Andrews are having a dinner date in the garden, this evening.” My mum said.
“Okay mum, I will come and join you. Give me a few minutes.” I watched my mum leave the room. I was able to stab school today after my mum saw a blood stain on my bedsheet. I had to lie to her that I was on my periods, and luckily she believed me and also agreed when I told her I would not be able to go to school because I have painful cramps.
I sighed heavily, I really don’t want to see Hawk Andrews again today. I already hoped I was going to go to bed early tonight, but thanks to this rich family whose ostentatious life was a show off.

The dinner date was in the garden, a place where my mum and I have been wanting to just catch a glimpse of. The guests were here already, mum made me dress smartly in a floral dress that we got from the thrift store.
We carried the tray of foods and moved towards the garden, I followed behind my mum and two other maids followed behind us.
The garden didn’t look like what I was expecting. The flowers in it formed a spherical shape, a large circular space was in the center, this center had a big set of table with chairs opposite each other.
The guest and the Andrews were having a conversation, and their hearty laughter made my heart sink.
They all stopped talking as they noticed us, I proceeded to put the tray on the table. My mum was the one serving. I just had to step back and let her do her thing.
Suddenly I heard a loud squeak and then giggles followed. I looked towards where the sound came from. My eyes widened as my eyes met hers. She smirked, I could recognize what that means.
“Mary, Queen is a senior at Beverly Dale high school too. Have you guys met?” Mrs Andrews asked.

Hawk Andrews
A part of me chaffed with anger, she made it seem like I was a monster and I really didn’t care. She enjoyed it as much as I did, she had been willing as I held her close, caressing her soft flesh that still made me move with desire anytime I thought of it. She was ignoring me and I ignored her too. She looked angry and disgusted by my presence. It was obvious. She was acting like a child and it made me angry, A nice spanking, that was what she needed right now.
“Yes, Mrs Andrews. She is the school’s lose…. r sorry I meant nerd.” Queen flipped her hair as she gave Mary a forced smile.
I ran my hands through my hair as I watched her and her mother serve our guests. Queen kept throwing subtle glances at me, obviously trying to catch my attention. But I ignored her, not until I felt her hands on my thigh.
“You didn’t tell me she works as a maid in your house.” She whispered.
“Wait till everyone in school hears this.” She whispered typing on her phone.
I knew what she was going to do. She was about to announce it to the whole school. Typical Queen, always ready to ruin her enemies, not caring about how they feel.
