Ella’s POV
Kevin told me everything that happened when I woke up and I sighed. It seemed like living in the human world was going to take on more toil than I had expected. There wasn’t how we could stop the boys from yelling the house down next month when the full moon is near unless I was willing to gag their mouths while they shifted and I wasn’t ready to do that.
I wasn’t about to give my boys the trauma they couldn’t deal with.
“What do you think of?” Kevin asked as he walked behind me while I was making dinner.
I jumped, smiling as he wrapped his hand around my waist. “Hey! Don’t sneak up on me like that.”
“You know you love it. You can’t be playing hard to get now, Ella. We are mated.”
“Do you have to make me repeat how many times I want you so you know I do? You know I wasn’t playing hard to get.” I chuckled.
“Yes. Yes. I want you to keep telling me how much you love me so I can know. I don’t know so please tell me.”
“You are too old to have me stroke your ego.” I fired back at him, teasing him.
He looked like I had crushed him with my words but I didn’t believe that. Kevin could be quite dramatic when he wanted to.
“Is it hard to tell me that you want me?” He pouted, pushing his lips forward in a cute manner. He looked both funny and adorable at the same time.
Looking at him, I’m reminded of our sons. He reminded me a lot of how they looked when they were being naughty and wanted something from me. I couldn’t ever get over how much they looked alike.
“It is.”
“Tell me how.” He said, running circles over my bare stomach as he dipped his hand under my clothes. I could barely concentrate on the plantains I was chopping.
“Kevin, I have to cook.”
“I’m not a bother.”
“You are not.” I agreed with a sigh. He wasn’t ever going to be a bother to me and we both knew that.
“Tell me you love me, Ella and I will stop bothering you.”
“I don’t want to stop bothering you so I won’t tell you. Moreover, you know how I feel about you.” I chuckled. He was just in the mood to play and we both knew it.
“When are we going to have dinner if the two of you don’t stop playing around?” Nathan asked as he moved into the kitchen to have a cup of juice.
Neo rolled his eyes as he glanced at us and I felt like laughing at him for trying and spanking him for being a naughty boy to his parents. “We are the kids here, mum, dad.” He sighed.
“Yet they are the ones behaving like they are the ones.” Nick agreed.
“Will you boys watch your mouth?” I rebuked them.
“Dad, let’s go to the living room so we can all have dinner on time.” Nick said and tugged at Kevin’s hand. Before long, all the boys were tugging at his hand and trying to move him away from the kitchen.
I laughed out loud at their attempt when Kevin didn’t move an inch. I decided to help them when I couldn’t stand their groans and knew that I wasn’t going to be done cooking on time. If I didn’t do anything, this place was going to turn into a playground and I was going to be left alone to deal with the aftermath.
The boys were bored and I was going to regret it if I gave them a chance to make this about them.
“Can you guys go play with Uncle Liam so dad and I can finish up on time with dinner and we can get to eat early as you want?”
“Uncle Liam is asleep.” Neo replied.
I nodded. That explained it. That explained why they were all here and looking for a reason to play.
“Go and play in your room.” I told them. “What about the new toys we bought yesterday?” I reminded them, grateful for the toys the human world had to offer. I had a lot of things to keep them busy while I had time to myself.
“No, mum. We want dad.”
“Dad wants mum.” Kevin said, smiling at them. “The three of you have one another and can play among yourselves but mummy has only me to keep her company. If you pull me away from her, she would be left alone in the kitchen. Do you want mummy to be lonely?” He explained as if he was a salesman running a sales pitch.
I smiled at his lengthy explanation. I had almost forgotten how much of a sweet talker he was until I watched him in action one more time. I almost would have believed that I would be lonely if he wasn’t here with me with the way he talked and forgotten that he wasn’t chasing off the boys for my own sake but for his sake.
My mate was a sly man but I couldn’t help but feel proud and excited at the same time that he was being sly to spend more time with me.
“Oh! Mummy shouldn’t be lonely.” Neo agreed.
“Let’s go build a castle in our room.” Nathan said.
“We built that yesterday.” Nick grumbled. “Let’s play a puzzle instead.”
“That is boring. It wouldn’t be long that I would sleep off if we play that.”
“You boys shouldn’t sleep off.” I butted in. I didn’t want to go through the stress of cooking and trying to get them to eat. “How about you watch some TV channels in your room? I will call for you when the food is ready.”
They bounced out of the kitchen, chatting excitedly on their way to their bedroom. They hadn’t walked far enough before Kevin gave me a brief kiss on the lips and I gasped at him while he winked and chuckled at my reaction. He behaved himself though and before long we had dinner ready and called the boys out and thankfully, Liam was also awake.
It was amazing how quickly I was adapting to a family life here, pretending to live like the human woman that I wasn’t.
