Ella’s POV
“You don’t have to worry about anything like that.” I told him. “We are only here to have fun ans adventure, right?”
“Right, mum.” He nodded.
I smiled. That was the spirit. We continued moving, looking at signs till we found what we were looking for in the neighborhood that we wanted to stay in. I hoped that it would be a smooth transition for us as I didn’t want to call too much attention to ourselves while we were on an undercover mission.
I felt excited about it already. I didn’t know what was going to happen here but I suspected that it was going to be a lot more than we bargained for and it was also going to be fun.
“Mellus Real Estate Holdings.” I muttered under my breath as I stared at the boldly written words on the billboard in front of the building.
This was it. Well, I hoped this was it.
This would be the seventh office that we would see while we have been out on the street but this would be the first one that I knew we could be comfortable enough to get inside.
Some of the others we had seen were either too flashy offices and I suspected that the rents were going to be on the high side and I was trying to avoid that. I didn’t want that. I wasn’t about to waste all our money on rent. Kevin had asked me what I was looking for and had urged me to get an apartment as fast as we could but I wasn’t going to let him sway me into doing what I didn’t want to do.
They should have thought better before they made me the custodian of our money.
I also didn’t want to deal with the owners of the other offices as they looked small with shabby signs. I suspected as well that the rent there was going to be low but it wouldn’t be a surprise if the houses we would be offered would also be poorly built and I couldn’t allow my family to live there.
We might be no one here but we were royalty in the land that we lived in and we needed to live that way here as well.
“This is the place I was looking for.” I said and led the others in, hoping it truly was where I was looking for and wasn’t about to make a grave mistake.
I had heard from some ladies while I was in the restroom some hours ago to relieve myself about how some real estate agents had duped them.
I didn’t want to be duped and asides the money I couldn’t afford to lose, I didn’t want to deal with the heartbreak of knowing that I was duped. I wasn’t about to look for a job here to survive when I didn’t plan to be here for more than three months.
“Good afternoon,” the man in the office smiled at us as he saw us walking into his office. “You are welcome. Please have a seat.”
We sat down on the available few chairs, the three of us carrying each of the boys in our laps. If we didn’t do that, we weren’t going to be able to discuss the meeting as we wanted to. I wouldn’t put it against the boys to scatter the place and leave the man frustrated with us. A frustrated man was never going to get us what we wanted.
“Good afternoon. We would like to get an apartment. It should have three bedrooms, a large sitting room and lest I forget, it should be already furnished. We don’t have the time to buy home furnitures.”
He nodded. “Rent or short let?”
“Short let.”
“How long are you staying for?”
“We should be out in the next four months.”
“What is your budget?”
His eyes widened as he heard the price I was willing to part with. I felt it was a fair price but it seemed like it was more than fair to him. I didn’t regret saying that though as it was something I could easily let go of and from the expression on his face, I could tell that we were going to get the best deal he could offer. If that was what we get for that price, it was more than enough deal for me.
“You should check these out.” He said, extending some pamphlets to me.
I collected them and distributed the rest to the others. I didn’t like the houses on the first page and moved to the second one. I wasn’t done checking the second page before I found the design that I liked. I loved the design and layout of the apartment. Even the interior design was something I really wanted to wake up to every morning..
I was sure I already found the apartment I wanted on the second page but I wanted to be sure so I checked the other apartments but I was right. No other apartments beat the one I had already chosen.
I turned to Liam and Kevin to know what they thought of the houses on the pamphlet.
“What do you think of the apartments?”
Liam shrugged. “It’s your choice, Lu…” He chuckled as he caught himself. “Lucy.” He added.
Kevin chuckled under his breath at the name. It was funny to me too. He didn’t have to call me Lucy. It was better though. I would rather live by a fake identity here with the name of my wolf rather than a strange name that I couldn’t relate with.
“I’m fine with your choice.” Kevin said.
I nodded and turned to the realtor. “I will take this one.” I said, pointing at the house on the second page.
“Excellent, Lucy.” He grinned at me.
I guessed it was better to live as Lucy here rather than have our identity exposed if we live by our real names since we don’t know what to expect here.
