Ella’s POV
Six years after the death of the rogues
“No! Don’t do that.” I screamed as I ran towards the triplets.
I sighed as they ran away from me, chuckling. I ran after them and they kept on running, laughing and turning it into play. They dispersed into different directions and I shook my head, wondering who I was going to run after. They were naughty boys but I couldn’t love them less.
A maid moved towards me and bowed. “Your highness, lunch is ready.”
I nodded. “Good. We will join you shortly.” I shouted to the boys when the maid was gone. “Let’s go have lunch, boys.”
“Not now, mummy.” Neo replied.
“We aren’t hungry.” Nathan added.
“Maybe later, mummy.”
I smiled. They were only five but they knew what they wanted and never hesitated to tell me what they wanted. That was a good trait for kids but exceptionally good for alphas to be. I hated that I was thinking this way but I had to start facing the truth
Regardless of how I thought of the kids and how overprotective I was of them, I had to admit to myself one day that the future of the pack rested on the shoulders of one of my kids.
I started thinking of that when they started their trainings as prospective alphas months ago. That was different from the one they started when they were three. That was to teach them how to shift and survive as a wolf. I was super proud of them when they shifted for the first time without the influence of the full moon.
It had been crazy the day they shifted on a night of the full moon. If I had ever thought that the boys were naughty, I had a different experience that day. I had my hands full and was grateful that Kevin was around that night. The maids, Kevin and I had a rough night trying to calm the excited and agitated wolves down till they finally shifted to human forms.
“I will go have lunch.” I said to them. “You can join me when you are ready.”
“Mummy,” they protested, wanting me to stay here in the sun and continue playing with them.
I shook my head. “I’m not staying with you. I’m off to eat. I wonder what the chef made. I think he made pasta. Or is it curry? Or is it eggs?”
“Eggs?” The boys shouted.
My eyes twinkled at the corners as I looked at them. “I think they made sausage rolls with it.”
“Sausage rolls?” They shouted, their eyes almost bulging out of their sockets.
“Do you still want to stay here instead of going inside to have lunch?”
“We will have lunch.”
“I thought as much.” I smiled as I moved towards the house, knowing they were walking after me.
“Daddy!” They shouted and ran towards Kevin as they saw him.
I turned and looked at Kevin who had already bent down to embrace them. I didn’t know that he would be around today. He had been coming home early frequently those days and I loved that he was deliberate about the surprises.
“Daddy, when did you come home?” Neo asked.
“Now.” Kevin smiled, ruffling Neo’s hair.
Neo grinned. “Welcome home, daddy.”
“You came home for our birthdays.” Nathan smiled at him.
“I couldn’t miss it for the world, regardless of how busy I am.” Kevin grinned.
“I love that you are here.” Nick said, searching through Kevin’s clothes. “Did you bring something for us?”
I chuckled as I moved forward. “Come here, boys. Let’s let your dad rest. He just came back from office.”
“Relax, Ella. I’m fine. I’m not too tired to play with my kids.” He chuckled, staring at me.
I smiled, shaking my head at him. “That isn’t the point, Kevin. The kids have to eat lunch and they wouldn’t if you keep playing with them. Their food will get cold.”
He sighed and dropped his hands in the air as he stood up. “Let me go freshen myself up. I will be back soon. You boys should go and have your lunch before mummy gets angry.” He said and winked at them.
The boys chuckled. Nathan grinned and moved closer to his dad. “We shouldn’t make mummy angry.” He said in a whisper though I could hear him.
“We shouldn’t.”
“Mummy is always angry.” Neo added in that conspiratorial tone his father and brother used.
“I can hear you guys.” I laughed.
“See?” Neo chuckled. “Mummy is getting angry already.”
“Let’s not get her angry.” Kevin said. “Go and eat your lunch, boys. I will join you shortly at the table.”
“Don’t indulge them.” I cautioned Kevin, my eyes twitching with amusement. I didn’t have to worry too much about who the boys took after with their naughtiness.
I turned to walk away with the boys so Kevin could move to the bedroom to have his bath when I felt a tug on my shoulder. Before I could look at Kevin to ask what was going on in his mind, his mouth came down hard on mine. I felt the usual spark run through my body and tried my best to not moan loudly because of the boys. I didn’t think I could ever stop reacting to Kevin’s kisses.
The kids turned and saw Kevin kissing me. “Dad,” they groaned.
He raised his head up and grinned at them. “I can’t help it. Your mum is beautiful.”
I smacked him on the shoulder. He was being unnecessarily naughty.
“Yeah, mummy is beautiful.” Nathan grinned.
I smiled as I looked at the boys. “Thank you.”
“Mummy, let’s go eat lunch before dad decides to eat your face again.” Neo chuckled.
I chuckled as I turned to Kevin. “You heard your son. They want to eat and you shouldn’t eat my face.”
“I promise to behave myself.” Kevin promised his sons.
“We don’t trust you, dad.” Nick chuckled.
“Ouch, that hurt.” Kevin said in a dramatic pose which made the boys laugh.
I was with my family having fun and I couldn’t be any happier. It would be nice if we could keep on being happy like this and being a happy family. I couldn’t ask for more than that.
