Ella’s POV
I was preparing for bed that same night when I heard a knock on the door. I frowned as I got up from the bed and walked towards the door, wondering who it was. Kevin had gone with the soldiers manning the border to strengthen the security.
He had left before daybreak and I hadn’t seen him today and wasn’t expecting him. He wasn’t expected to be here tonight. I wondered who else was at the door as I couldn’t think of anyone that could be at the door but curiosity wouldn’t let me stay in my room I had sent Amanda to bed earlier and there wasn’t anyone else I could think of.
I gasped as I opened the door and saw Kevin standing right there. My second gasp was swallowed in his throat as he pulled me forward, kissing my lips in a passionate lip lock. He moved in, closed the door behind him and kept on kissing me.
I breathed when he finally let go of me. “I wasn’t expecting you tonight.”
“I haven’t seen you today.” He breathed, leading me towards the bed and pulled me on his laps as he sat down on it. “You didn’t think I was going to live a day without seeing you?”
“You left your soldiers to come for me?” I asked like I was rebuking him but I was smiling. I was thrilled that he left and came all the way for me.
“I missed you.” He said in a tone of finality like that explained it all.
“I missed you too.” I smiled, burying my face in his shoulder.
“How was your day?” He asked.
I sighed and told him about Maya, the confrontation I had with her and how Sasha, Selene and Sarah had come to my aid.
“I will talk to Maya.” He hissed when I was done. “I will tell Liam to keep a check on his sister.”
I placed a hand on his arm. “You don’t have to do that. That would only make her hate me more and it doesn’t make me look strong if you have to fight my battles and I have to cry about to you about everything that happens to me.”
He sighed. “I hate it when you have a hard time.”
“I don’t like it when I have a hard time as well but I can fight for myself.” I assured him. “I have a favor to ask you.”
“What is it?”
“Can I start a clinic here? That would keep me busy. I took a walk because I was bored. If I had something to do with my time, I wouldn’t have to take walks frequently and run into annoying girls.”
He chuckled. “Why don’t you be specific? You don’t want to run into annoying Maya.”
“Kevin!” I sighed. “That is not the point.”
He chuckled, giving me a kiss on the forehead. “You can have everything that you want. I don’t mind. Where do you want the clinic to be?”
“Somewhere close to home. You can have your men come to me when they are injured. They would be my first customers.”
“Noted, Doctor Ella.”
I smiled, glad that I had something to look forward to. It was going to help me bond with the pack members as well and I knew that they would all know and respect me in a matter of months.
“Now that we’ve talked about what you want to do, can we skip to what I want to do? I didn’t come here to talk all night.”
“What did you come here for?” I asked, teasing as I wagged my eyebrows at him.
He shifted closer to me. “This.” He said and pulled my head down to kiss me.
“And more.” He said, pulling my night dress off my body.
“I’m all yours tonight, Kevin.” I said as I leaned into him, letting him get me naked.
“You are all mine forever.” He chuckled as he kissed me, placing me gently on the bed.
Maya’s POV
I couldn’t believe Ella had just made a fool of me. She could talk and yet hid that from me. She hid that from everyone. Why didn’t she say something the other day when she came back home with Kevin? Why not? She was a deceptive little bitch. I wondered if knowing she could talk was what made Kevin like her. I felt like going in search of the one who had healed her and give the person a piece of my mind. Why did they have to do what wasn’t sent to them?
Everything about Ella kept showing me that she wasn’t meant to be the Luna of the pack but there was no way I could show that to others.
It didn’t help that she had started a clinic and was treating others. Every day, people gushed about how good she was and it was annoying hearing that. I couldn’t walk anywhere without hearing people talk about Ella, how good she was as a physician and how lucky they were to have her as the Luna.
That wasn’t it. I couldn’t let people like her. They were already starting to admire her and before I knew it, they would all start to bow to her and forget about me and my ambition. Those losers. They had called me their Luna and looked up to me. They had pledged their support to me and now were pledging it to another female because she could do some tricks with herbs and her hands to heal.
I could also do something with my hands. Why were they quick to forget that? I was the strongest female in the pack and could fight alongside Kevin to protect them. Why couldn’t they think of that? I doubted that Ella could lift a fist to protect herself.
What was that thing she had said to me the other day? I hissed as I remembered her words. Desperation was ugly? She was wrong. Desperation was determination and I was going to show her that.
Two ladies stopped where I was, looking at me. I glanced at them and looked away, not knowing why they were standing with me. For all I knew, they could be here to taunt me as everyone seemed to fully support Ella now and I didn’t know who was on my side.
“You seem worried. What are you thinking of?” One of them asked.
I didn’t respond, not seeing how my thoughts were any of their concerns.
“Are you discouraged because of the new Luna?”
I fumed with rage. I should have known that they were here to rub it on my face like the others. Couldn’t I even have peace again in this land? I blamed Ella for everything I was going through here. She shouldn’t have come back home.
I hissed. “She is not the Luna yet.”
“I agree with you.” The first lady spoke up.
I glanced up in surprise at her, shocked that there were still faithful people who had not been bewitched by the deceptive Ella. I glanced at the second lady and she also nodded at me, showing me she agreed with what her friend had said. I smiled genuinely since the first time Ella had come back home. It seemed like the universe was on my side again.
“Sit.” I said to them, shifting on the pavement to make space for them.
“I’m Suan and she is Tara.”
I nodded at the introduction of their names without saying mine. I was well aware that they knew mine or they wouldn’t have started a conversation with me.
“It isn’t fair that the alpha acted the ultimate playboy and is now planning to settle down with the lady he rejected years ago. It feels like he rejected her on purpose so he could live the wild life and is now going back to his first love. He used us and made us have unnecessary hope.” Tara hissed.
Us? I hated that Kevin had slept with them too, feeling jealous but I pushed my emotions out of my head. This wasn’t the time to be angry over the past and I was already thinking of how I could use their plight to my advantage.
“The alpha is irresponsible.” Suan hissed.
“I take it he slept with you too.” I said, changing the conversation. I wasn’t interested in badmouthing Kevin and debating on how responsible or irresponsible he was. After all, he was the man I wanted to end up with.
Suan nodded. “We had one night with him each and it is annoying to see him flaunting his mate as if he hadn’t committed a sin against some of the females in the pack.”
“If we could feel as annoyed as this because we had a night with him. I can’t imagine how hurt you must be since you were his regular lay.”
Regular lay? I tried not to feel offended by the term.
“Do you know any of the other ladies that Kevin slept with?”
Suan chuckled. “It wasn’t as if we have a club for the alpha’s discarded females.”
The alpha’s discarded females? I was trying really hard to not get angry at their words.
“I know some of them but they are not mad at the alpha. They believe it was a mutual affair and since the alpha didn’t say anything and promise them forever, they don’t care who he ends up with. They are grateful they were able to spend the night with him.”
I sighed. Those losers wouldn’t be of any help to me but I hoped these two would.
“Do you want to teach the alpha a lesson?”
“Sure.” They replied eagerly. They seemed too eager and I was pleased.
“There is a way you can make Luna get mad at him, she would leave him and he would be heartbroken. You can make him pay for his irresponsible actions towards you.”
If that worked, I would have the chance to seduce Kevin and have him to myself once he realized that Ella was gone finally out of his life and he couldn’t have her again.
“Will it work?” Suan asked.
“It should. Moreover, we should try our best to make a sinner pay.”
“What is your plan?”
I smiled as I moved closer to whisper in their ears. They loved it as much as I did and I waved goodbye to them later after concluding on how the plan was going to be carried out.
I hoped Ella never forgives Kevin.
