Ella’s POV
“How do I look?” I asked, standing before the mirror and turning in front of Kevin.
“You look amazing.” Kevin replied. “This is the fourth dress you’ve worn today, Ella.”
He sounded exasperated but I couldn’t blame him. He was right. I had been changing my outfit since as I was nervous of the what was going to happen today. He was wrong though. This wasn’t the fourth dress I’d worn today. This was the tenth dress I had worn today as I had tried other dresses before he walked into my bedroom.
“Tenth.” I confessed.
His eyes widened in shock at my confession. “Tenth? Why?”
“I want to impress your father.”
He sighed. “You don’t have to do that, Ella. I’m sure dad wouldn’t mind about what you wear.”
“Are you sure?” I asked, feeling nervous. I was afraid that he was saying that so I could leave on time as we were getting late. It remained only an hour before we had to see his father.
He moved closer to me, pulling me into his arms and folded his hand around my waist. “You are beautiful and you are mine. That I choose you is the only thing that my dad needs to like you so you don’t have to try too hard. He will like you even if you don’t make an effort. He will like you whether you wear a cloth made by the best fashion designer in town or anything.”
“Thank you.” I smiled at him. He was so sweet.
“Now, get dressed before I am tempted to pull your lips into mine.” He grunted.
“You should do that.” I said, wiggling my eyebrows at him.
He sighed, groaning as if he was in pain. “You shouldn’t tempt me.”
“Why? It isn’t like we have a long journey to cover.”
My mother was his father’s beta and she lived close to the palace when she was alive so she could better protect Kevin. That was how we had grown up together and gotten close. Wishing that I would find my way back home to the pack everyday, Kevin had instructed the maids to keep her mansion clean and tidy so that had been where I stayed when I got back yesterday and it was in pristine condition that I didn’t have to do much.
“You tempt me, Ella.” He groaned again, looking torn. He seemed like he didn’t know what to do. He wanted to kiss me (or maybe do more than that) and wanted to leave so we wouldn’t be late to his father’s chambers.
“Follow your heart, Kevin.” I said, giving him a nudge in the right place.
“Fuck it.” He growled and took my lips in his.
I moaned, melting softly under him as I felt his lips over mine. He moved his lips, stroking the lower one with his tongue and I lost it. I pulled him closer, running my hand through his hair as I pulled him closer with the other. I loved this feeling. I loved how he made my toes curl in passion and made me feel a lot of things at the same time. I loved this moment and wished that it never had to end. This was it. This was bliss. I was certain that it was going to extend beyond a kiss. His breathing had become ragged and I knew he was aroused. It would be a wonder if he didn’t have me right here and now and it would be a delight if he did.
Dad wasn’t here to interrupt us and I smiled against his lips, knowing we had this moment all to ourselves.
I moved closer and grinned as I felt his erection against my belly. Yes, that was it. He was rock hard. He was throbbing for me and I was wet for him as well. I could feel my juice dripping down my legs. I ran my hand lightly over his shaft, teasing him and urging him to make a move.
He sucked in a breath, cursed under his breath and pulled away. My brain was clouded with confusion as I wondered what had happened. No one had knocked on the door so I didn’t understand why he had stopped.
His nostrils flared and he glanced up at him. “You are wet.”
“For you.” I grinned as I ran my tongue over my lips, hoping I could get him back into my bed.
I moved closer to him, eager to have him back in my arms but he raised a finger up, stopping me in my tracks. “We shouldn’t, Ella.” He said, shaking his head at me.
“Why?”
“Father is waiting for us.”
I sighed. He was right. It would be rude to keep him waiting. I blushed for being naughty.
He smiled at the look on my face and planted a kiss on my forehead. “You have to know it took everything in me to get away from you.”
“I know.” I smiled, finally settling on a dress and wore it. “Let’s go.”
“You are here.” His father smiled at the two of us as we walked into his study, hand in hand.
“Good afternoon, Peter.” I bowed to him.
His eyebrows didn’t raise in surprise at the sound of my voice and I smiled. Kevin must have told him about my voice. “Welcome home, my dear. Sit.” He waved at the chairs before him.
“You should have mated her years ago if you knew you were going to do this.” Peter said, looking at Kevin. “My grandkids would be running around by now.” He teased him.
Kevin chuckled. “Dad, don’t tease me.
“How have you been these past few years, my dear. Tell me, Ella.”
I told him of my stay with the blue river pack and how Camilla had saved my life. I told him about the clinics I had there and Kevin told him about the treaty we had signed and how I had played an important role in getting it. He seemed proud of me as we spoke and a thrill went through my heart at the look on his face.
I felt like I belonged here for the first time since I had gotten back home.
