Ella’s POV
The men were done packing in less than fifteen minutes and I was also done with my food. I jumped up to my feet, dusting off my behind as they approached me.
“Are you done?” Kevin asked.
“I’m done and ready.” I replied.
He smiled, moving closer to me and slipped his hand into mine. “Okay. Good. Let’s go.”
We continued on our journey and I was happy when we took a bend and walked away from the land. I breathed in relief, glad that I had left that place behind.
“If I wasn’t convinced that the alpha and the luna are in love with each other, I was convinced today.” Loki said. “I didn’t think I had ever seen him as distressed as that.”
“And I do not want to ever see him that way again.” Andre sighed.
“Thanks for praying for my safety.” I said to Andre.
He was praying for my safety if he didn’t want Kevin to be that way as the only reason he would be distressed as he had been at that time was if I was in danger. I didn’t want to be in danger anymore as well.
He nodded at me, fully understanding what I meant. “You are welcome.”
The men talked and laughed among themselves and we didn’t feel that the walk home was as far as it used to be. I didn’t doubt that the excitement of today had contributed to how we all felt and the spring in our walk. The residual adrenaline from the battle must still be pumping in their bodies.
“It’s been long you left home, Ella.” Loki asked. “Will you be comfortable when we get home?”
Kevin seemed uncomfortable beside me, his hand clenching in mine. I squeezed his hand and smiled at him, letting him know that I was fine and he didn’t have to worry about me. I knew what he was thinking of but he didn’t have to worry about that. It was normal for the men to be curious and Loki was right.
It was going to be slightly uncomfortable at home if not a lot but that didn’t mean I wasn’t ready for it. Everyone had to be curious as well. After all, they all knew what I had gone through in the presence of everyone.
“It would be especially when no one is expecting me but I will be fine. I will adjust quickly when I get home. After all, I’m of the blood moon pack.” I answered Loki.
Kevin smiled and squeezed my hand at my words. He must be feeling so good that I had referred to myself as a member of the blood moon pack.
I squeezed his hand back. That was what I was regardless of what else could happen. I had been born there and grew up there and even though I was despised by some of the wolves in there, it didn’t change the reality that I belonged there.
No matter what I was, I belonged there because I had Kevin with me. Wherever he was was home to me and that made the blood moon pack home to me as well, regardless of what others thought of me.
“Good.” Andre sighed. “You need to be strong because I can bet it with you that you will have a lot of troubles at home.”
I smiled. “From the female wolves who want to be in my shoes?”
“You know everything?” Damien asked, his eyes darting between me and Kevin.
I wondered why he was looking at Kevin and why he was shocked that I knew anything. I had left the blood moon pack but that didn’t mean that I had left my memories behind. The female wolves hadn’t been nice to me and I would be a fool to assume that five years would have cleansed them of their hatred of me.
“I know the female wolves have always been threatened by me and hated that I was closer to Kevin while growing up. It’s normal that those feelings would rear their heads again when they see me.” I explained.
Damien laughed. “And now you are going home as the luna. Everyone would be able to smell Kevin’s bonding mark on you from miles away. I think that would help them behave well to you and put their feelings asides and respect you if they want their heads. That should help you settle in perfectly well.” He smiled as he talked, seeming pleased at his logical breakdown.
I doubted that would be the case. If at all, that would make it worse. Being already claimed by Kevin would make them hate me more and have a harder time settling at home.
Respect? They wouldn’t do that and I didn’t want hypocrites crowding around me.
Kevin wouldn’t always be around me and those ladies would have their time to taunt me and have their way with me. They also knew me too well that I wouldn’t report everything to Kevin. I wasn’t going to help myself if he started to punish his pack because of me.
I had to be strong on my own. One thing was certain though: it was about to get dramatic and tensed when we get home and I was the center of the plot.
“Ella,” Kevin called out to me. “Is there something wrong? You were awfully quiet.”
I shook my head. “There is nothing wrong. I was only thinking that no matter how it is at home, I have you all by my side. If I have you, then it definitely wouldn’t be hard to be strong and deal with it.”
They smiled at my words. “I will be with you.” Kevin said.
I smiled back at him. I didn’t doubt that he was going to be.
“I will tell my mate to encourage the others to not stress you.” Damien said to me and then glanced at Liam with a meaningful glare. Liam caught his glare and looked away.
I wondered what that look was for but I didn’t have the time to ponder much on it as we took a bend and a gasp escaped my throat as we walked onto the familiar road. The others didn’t know where we were but I would recognize this place, even in my dreams.
“We are almost home.” I breathed as I turned to look at everyone.
We were close to the blue river pack but I knew of a way that we could get to the blood moon pack without having the blue wolves know that we were around.
We were almost home. It felt like a dream but I knew it was real. I had never been so delighted.
