Kael watched Seraphina storm off angrily and immediately grabbed her hand. He couldn’t let her leave like this. Did she really believe he would abandon her? How could she think he’d ever do something so cruel? Yet, it was clear she didn’t trust him.
He pulled her into his arms and leaned down to kiss her lips. Seraphina, still fuming, bit him in retaliation. The sharp pain on his lips made him frown.
“Seraphina, why did you bite me?” he asked, his tone carrying a hint of grievance. He felt innocent in all of this-maybe even a little hurt.
“You pushed me too hard just now! Shouldn’t I be angry?” she retorted.
Kael sighed, his voice softening. “Did you ever think that if I hadn’t pushed you, you wouldn’t have run that fast? I wasn’t trying to upset you-I was trying to push you to your limits.”
Seraphina paused, her anger giving way to confusion as she studied him. Kael continued, “One day, if you’re ever in danger, you’ll need to run as fast as you can. You can’t afford to jog leisurely like everyone else. People only discover their true potential when they’re pushed to their limits, and that’s all I wanted for you.”
“You nearly scared me to death,” she muttered, her voice still tinged with irritation, though her posture softened.
Kael pulled her closer, cradling her against his chest. He stroked her cheek gently and kissed her forehead. “So, do you believe me now?” he asked, his voice low.
“I’m sorry for misunderstanding you earlier,” Seraphina said, her tone sincere.
“No, no, you don’t need to apologize,” Kael replied with a soft smile. “You’re my girlfriend, and whatever you do has your own reasoning behind it. The fault is mine-I shouldn’t have scared you.”
What Kael didn’t tell her was that he had been testing her. Testing her potential. Seraphina still refused to embrace the fact that she was a werewolf, and Kael had stopped trying to convince her. But he wanted her inner wolf to awaken sooner rather than later. She needed to become stronger-more like a wolf-because the dangers she would face were unrelenting.
As much as Kael wanted to protect her, he couldn’t be by her side every moment. She needed to be able to defend herself. That’s why he had pushed her to her limits. What Seraphina didn’t realize was that her speed while running earlier had already far surpassed human capabilities.
“Thank you, Kael,” Seraphina said, her voice filled with gratitude.
Kael smiled. She was such a kind-hearted girl-always quick to feel guilty when she thought she’d done something wrong. She was so easy to comfort. He chuckled softly, though he rarely took advantage of her innocence. He wouldn’t deceive her unless absolutely necessary.
He backed her against a nearby tree and leaned in to kiss her lips once more. This time, he wanted to finish what had been interrupted before. The last time they were in the woods, he had planned for an intimate moment with Seraphina, but Lucian’s unexpected appearance had ruined everything.
Making love in the wilderness was entirely different from being at home. The forest, with its unfamiliarity and openness, was exhilarating. Kael wanted Seraphina to experience the thrill of it.
Her body was soft beneath his touch as he caressed her, listening to her shallow breaths and slight resistance.
“No, Kael… not here,” Seraphina protested, squirming in his arms. Her cheeks flushed with embarrassment. “Marek is nearby.”
Kael reassured her, his voice calm. “Don’t worry. I’ve already sent him away.”
He felt her hesitation but continued to kiss her gently, running his hands through her hair, which was as smooth as silk. “Don’t be afraid, Seraphina. It’s just the two of us here. Trust me-I won’t let anyone or anything see you.”
He kissed her hair, marveling at how perfect she was in every way. Even her hair seemed flawless, sliding like satin through his fingers. Under his soothing words and touches, Seraphina’s resistance waned. He seized the moment to slide her pants down, his hand slipping between her legs.
She trembled under his touch, her breathing growing erratic. Her body betrayed her emotions-she was already wet. Kael’s own breath quickened in response to her reactions.
“I love you, Seraphina,” he whispered against her lips.
Lifting her into his arms, he pressed her back against the tree. Her arms encircled his neck, and he could see the mix of desire and apprehension in her eyes.
“Seraphina,” he murmured, his voice a low growl, “doesn’t this make it even more exciting? The thought that someone might come by at any moment?”
“That’s only if we don’t get caught…” she replied hesitantly.
“Someone could walk in at any time,” Kael teased, watching her features shift to a mixture of fear and excitement. Her vulnerability sent a thrill through him.
He lowered his pants and entered her in one swift motion. Seraphina couldn’t stifle the soft moan that escaped her lips, her body trembling with each movement. For Kael, the sensation was unlike anything he’d ever felt before. It was as if an invisible force gripped him, pulling him deeper into pleasure.
The forest was silent, save for the rustling leaves in the wind and the sounds they made together-their heavy breathing and the rhythmic meeting of their bodies. Kael loved the feeling of freedom, the raw connection to nature, and the intimacy of sharing this moment with Seraphina.
As he shifted their positions and laid her on the forest floor, he thought about how he had dreamed of this moment. Making love in the openness of the wild was far better than the confines of an apartment. The natural world was their bed, and it felt exhilarating.
Seraphina’s body moved beneath his, her flushed face and half-closed eyes telling him she was lost in the same pleasure. Watching her surrender to the moment filled him with a sense of triumph.
“Seraphina, doesn’t this feel incredible? Don’t you want something even more thrilling?” he asked, his voice husky.
She tried to respond, but all that came out were broken moans. Kael pulled her closer, his movements growing more intense as they explored different positions. By the end, Seraphina was utterly spent, passing out from exhaustion.
Kael looked at her, feeling a profound sense of accomplishment. He kissed her softly on the cheek before scooping her up and carrying her back to their apartment.
This was the most satisfying night they had ever shared. Kael wondered if they could explore even more places together in the future. The thought of new adventures with Seraphina excited him.
Tonight had been perfect. Shadow, the wolf inside him, had nearly emerged, but Kael had suppressed it, worried it might frighten her. For now, he was content.
