“Nelson?” Callie frowned immediately, looking at him with confusion. His expression was grim as he signaled her with his eyes.
She had no choice but to ask the driver to stop.
Nelson’s stance indicated that he wouldn’t give up until he achieved his goal. He might even start racing on the road again.
“Why are you following me?” Callie asked directly after getting out of the car.
Nelson no longer looked as despondent as he did yesterday. He seemed much more resolute. He grabbed Callie’s hand and pushed her into the passenger seat. “This is not the place to talk.”
“Who could be eavesdropping?” Callie stood her ground, displeased with his behavior. “Whatever you have to say, say it here.”
Nelson’s gaze was intense. She wasn’t sure if she saw it wrong, but there seemed to be a hint of grievance in his eyes.
“No matter what your reasons are, stay in Ylosea for now.”
As soon as he said this, Callie understood most of it. Her frown deepened and then relaxed. “Who told you?”
Nelson didn’t answer.
“Albert?”
“Anbusea is not a safe place. Without protection, something might happen to you. If you’re looking for Reuben, wait until I finish…”
Callie interrupted him, “Nelson.”
He stopped abruptly, but his cold demeanor couldn’t hide his frustration.
“Don’t tell me Albert was arranged by you to meet me.”
She was incredibly smart. Nelson clearly drove over from that restaurant, which meant he was present during her conversation with Albert.
Who was it?
Callie immediately thought of that strange waiter.
Nelson neither confirmed nor denied it, but he didn’t let go of her hand. “In any case, stay here for now.”
Callie felt a surge of anger looking at the man in front of her. “Are you crazy, Nelson? Are you so idle? At such a critical moment, are you playing cosplay with me? It seems the crisis at Oconnor Group isn’t that serious.”
Nelson listened quietly to her sarcasm. After she finished, he repeated, “Stay in Ylosea for now.”
“You were the one who wanted to send me away before, and now you’re the one who wants me to stay. Am I your employee, coming and going at your command?”
Callie laughed as she spoke; she found it truly ironic.
The winter sunlight made the man’s face look pale and tired, but his determination hadn’t faded.
“It doesn’t matter. You get angry at me. It means you still care. . It’s good enough.” Nelson suddenly smiled, a smile that sent chills down her spine.
Callie frowned, feeling a tinge of fear at his reaction.
Nelson was simply crazy.
But that was indeed what he thought. As long as she had mood swings, it was fine. He didn’t want her to be as calm and rational as she was last night, showing no feelings for him. That was too terrifying; he couldn’t bear it.
Otherwise, he wouldn’t have found Albert overnight and asked him to help persuade her. But unexpectedly, he heard she was planning to leave Ylosea.
Nelson felt like he was going insane.
Both of them were dressed low-key, but their demeanor and figures were striking. Standing on the street for a while attracted a lot of attention.
Jamir drove by and initially just glanced over. After driving past, he realized something was wrong. “Yusuf! Turn back!”
Callie didn’t want to say more to him. “Nelson, go back to Oconnor Group and do what you should be doing. Stop wasting time.”
She didn’t expect that he hadn’t listened to a word she said last night and instead spent time on such meaningless things. In Callie’s eyes, he wasn’t someone who acted so impulsively.
