“Flynn,” Harriet said as she walked out with the phone, a look of disappointment on her face.
Flynn put down his chopsticks, wiped his mouth, and smiled. “Harriet, why do you look so upset?”
“I-I’m fine,” Harriet forced a smile, her voice trembling slightly. “Flynn, does the outfit I made for you not fit?”
“The outfit?” Flynn froze for a moment before realizing what she meant. He quickly smiled and asked, “Oh, you mean the white outfit? I didn’t wear it when I went to kill Dario Bragg. Are you mad?”
It was his fault for not paying attention to it. He hadn’t realized how much effort Harriet had put into it. She probably hadn’t even slept well over it.
“No, it’s not that. I was just worried the outfit might not fit. But I measured your jacket size-it shouldn’t be wrong…” Harriet lowered her head slightly, biting her lip.
“It fits perfectly! Too perfectly!” Flynn reassured her with a smile. “But I couldn’t bear to wear it. I wanted to save it for when I take you to Hussain family and retrieve The Elixir of Vigor.”
“Harriet, I promised you-I’ll cut through the Hussain family’s old estate with one strike of my sword.”
This excuse was something Flynn thought of on the spot, but Harriet believed it wholeheartedly. Her eyes sparkled like stars as she smiled brightly.
“Really! As long as it fits, I’m happy. I misunderstood, hehe-”
This girl was too pure, so pure that it made people feel protective of her.
Seeing her so happy, Flynn felt even more guilty and promised, “Harriet, the next time I face a strong enemy, I’ll wear this white outfit.”
“I’ll let those who say I’m not handsome see what a real handsome man looks like! And you’ll be there to witness my charm! Hmph!”
To cheer up Harriet, Flynn even struck a proud pose, his face smug.
“Ew-”
“Handsome? You?” Molly scoffed as she ran to the side, her lips curling in disdain. “Rose, I’m losing my appetite.”
“Yeah, I feel a bit sick too,” Rose said, covering her mouth as she laughed.
“Molly, you’re such a hypocrite!” Harriet overheard Molly’s words and became slightly angry. “Just the other day, you were telling me about Flynn’s godlike presence at Swordgate Peak. You said three times that he was really handsome. Now you’re mocking him?”
“Not allowed!”
“Ah!” Molly’s cheeks turned red as she stammered, “I only said that to please you. I don’t care about him at all!”
“And Harriet, you’re too biased. You always take his side!”
“I don’t care. You have to admit Flynn is handsome, or I won’t make clothes for you!” Harriet declared firmly.
“What? No! Fine, fine-he’s the most handsome, the number one in the world!” Molly gave in immediately and shouted into the phone.
“Hehe…” Harriet was thrilled and said, “Don’t worry. Your outfit is almost done, just missing one sleeve. It’ll be ready when you come back! Hehe-”
After chatting for a while, Flynn ended the call and turned to Molly, his smile teasing. “Oh, so you’ve got Harriet making outfits for you now?”
“Did she measure your chest size? If it’s too small, it won’t fit. Want me to measure it again for her?”
Molly’s face darkened instantly. Glaring at him, she said through gritted teeth, “Why don’t you say that in front of Scarlet? I dare you.”
“If you have the guts to say it to her, I’ll let you measure,” she snapped.
“Let’s eat,” Flynn said, his grin stiffening as he tossed his phone to Rose and began eating.
At the same time, two unexpected guests arrived at the Clark family estate.
If Vicente Clark were here, he would have recognized them immediately-they were Arthur Everett and Milton Gray, both Semi Earthly Sovereigns who had witnessed the events at Swordgate Peak.
As soon as the two elderly men appeared, their terrifying auras spread across the vast hundred-acre Clark family estate.
They were like two colossal deities. Every movement carried immense power, making it impossible for anyone to look directly at them. Their presence alone made people feel suffocated.
Two figures, as formidable as Dario Bragg, had arrived. Who wouldn’t be afraid?
After announcing their names, the butler dared not delay and quickly escorted them to the Clark family’s meeting hall.
When Mike Clark heard that Talon Emberhart’s men had come to Slatin, he immediately set aside his work at the Governor’s Office and rushed over.
“Mr. Everett, Mr. Gray! What an honor to have you here. Why didn’t you inform us beforehand?” Mike Clark greeted them with unprecedented enthusiasm as he entered the hall.
These two were from Talon Emberhart’s “Sleeve.” Although they weren’t high-ranking members of Sleeve, their presence represented Talon Emberhart’s will. They had to be treated with utmost respect.
“Mr. Clark, there’s no need to be so formal,” Milton Gray said calmly. “We didn’t plan to come to Slatin. We’re here following Lord Valerian Nox.”
“Lord Valerian Nox?” Mike Clark, who was pouring tea for the guests, froze mid-action, his hand trembling slightly.
Arthur Everett nodded slightly, his expression indifferent. “That’s right. Sleeve wants to recruit Lord Valerian Nox. We came to ask if you know his whereabouts in Slatin.”
“His whereabouts?” Mike Clark shook his head awkwardly. “To be honest, the entire Slatin has been searching for Lord Valerian Nox’s location.”
“But no one has any clues.”
Arthur Everett and Milton Gray exchanged glances. “Then we’ll stay in Slatin for a few days. In the meantime, can you help us gather information?”
“Of course!” Mike Clark agreed readily. He sat down and said, “I heard the military competition in the West Haralu Desert just ended. The results weren’t great this year. Mr. Emberhart… wasn’t angry, was he?”
Arthur Everett chuckled coldly, pressing one hand on the pear-wood table. “Does it matter? The most elite and high-ranking cultivators in all of Ostrad are under Mr. Emberhart’s command. Military competition honors mean little to him!”
“But it’s unfortunate for you. Adam Davies’ The Edge took first place, and your transfer to the Shipmeda State Military Region has been delayed.”
“It’s fine!” Mike Clark quickly waved it off. “No matter where I am, I’m always loyal to Mr. Emberhart! But Adam Davies really got lucky this year. The person helping him had some kind of body-strengthening potion. It was no surprise The Edge won first place.”
“Oh? You know the details?” Arthur Everett leaned forward slightly, his gaze sharp with interest.
Mike Clark explained, “It’s embarrassing to admit, but the person helping The Edge is actually a discarded member of the Clark family.”
“Without the medical book he has, The Edge wouldn’t have shone so brightly.”
Milton Gray’s brows furrowed. “A discarded member of the Clark family? Where is he now?”
“Mr. Emberhart sent us not only to deal with Lord Valerian Nox but also to investigate this mysterious coach of The Edge.”
“We want to see who dares defy the natural order to help The Edge!”
Their trip to Niarak had a dual purpose: to find Lord Valerian Nox and to uncover the identity of The Edge’s coach.
When they heard that Lord Valerian Nox was in Slatin, they had rushed over to ensure no other factions got there first. Unexpectedly, they stumbled upon the coach’s identity here.
“His name is Flynn. He’s the illegitimate son of my elder brother and his ex-wife. Ten years ago, he was sent to prison for mistreating his stepmother,” Mike Clark said.
“After his release, he stayed in Niarak for three months. Now, he’s here in Slatin with a business owner from Niarak to expand their market.”
“Yesterday, he offended a friend of the Clark family. He’s arrogant and disrespectful!”
“Oh? In Slatin? And he dared to provoke the Clark family?” Arthur Everett smirked, his eyes flashing with cold amusement. “Has he been dealt with?”
What perfect timing.
They had been wondering how to humiliate The Edge’s coach without tarnishing their own reputation.
Now that this man had offended the Clark family, it was the perfect opportunity for some proxy revenge.
“Not yet. Tomorrow at noon, my sister-in-law will personally confront him!” Mike Clark replied.
Arthur Everett and Milton Gray exchanged another glance, smiling in unison. “Good! We’ll join you and watch the show…”
