Aileen
Hearing her advice I was determined. After college, Marshall came to pick me up. I got into the car and we were on our way.
I bought something for her to eat also. After arriving at his home, I looked around the living room. Becky was nowhere to be seen.
“Where is she at?” I asked, turning to Marshall.
“Uh, I don’t know. She usually lounges around here and there all day. Maybe she’s in her room. Let me go get her”
“Wait!” I grabbed him by the hand, “Don’t go. First, tell her that I’m hereby calling. Then I’ll go to her room.”
“Is that really necessary?”
I nodded.
“Alright then.” He took out his phone and dialed the number. She picked up right away.
“Uh, Becky, are you in your room right now? You are? That’s great. Well, Aileen is here today, and she would like to see you. She’s going to your room now. That’s all. ” He hung up the call right away, but I could hear Becky yelling from the other end of the call.
“You can go now,” he replied, removing his coat. “If you need anything, call me. I’ll go and take a shower in the meantime.”
“Uh, okay.”
I went upstairs carrying the cream puffs which I brought with me. I knocked on her door holding the bag in my arms.
“Becky,” I called from outside the door. “Open the door.”
A few seconds later, the door opens slowly. She peeked out her face with a frown.
“Why are you here again today? Do you like harassing me or something?” she retorted.
“No, I certainly don’t. But, you don’t like being harassed either do you?”
She adverted her gaze, “That’s not true. I don’t like having you around. Why the hell are you here anyway? You aren’t dating my brother. Nor are you trying to seduce him. I don’t understand your motive like this.”
“Silly girl. I don’t have any motive,” I replied, “But, if I have to answer honestly. Then, I want to help you out. If you give me the chance to.”
I didn’t think how saying this would affect her. And yet, I was prepared anyway.
Her eyes widened, and she suddenly closed the door on my face. But, I managed to block it off with my hand and still struggled.
“Get out of here! I don’t need your help nor do I want you to help me out! Just leave me alone!” she yelled, trying her best to close the door.
“No, I won’t leave you alone. So, don’t close the door on me.” I struggled to keep the door open while holding the bag of cream puffs on the other.
“Leave me alone. I don’t need anyone. I’m fine on my own, in my own little world. Don’t come to destroy it. I don’t want any outsiders in my house. Get out!”
“You are misunderstanding something. I’m not going to leave you alone, nor get out of this house. Neither you can push me away. I’m more than a bother you can ever imagine.”
“Huh? What the hell are you even talking about? Just leave the door already!”
“No, I won’t. And you stop trying to close the door on my face. The cream puffs are going to get crushed like this. I had to wait in line to get them. Be a bit grateful!” I grunted.
“Well, who told you to get them anyway? I didn’t tell you to.”
“Yeah, you didn’t. But, who cares? I don’t want to waste them. So, open the door and let me come inside.”
“And what are you planning to do by coming inside?”
“I don’t know. I’ll think about it after you let me in first.”
“Then, how can I let you in without knowing your intentions? Just leave already!”
Fuck, she’s not listening to me at all. I have to use some force now. I placed my leg between the doorframe and used all the strength I had to open the door forcefully.
She fell down backward on the floor with a thud sound. I closed the door behind me heaving a sigh.
“Ah, that was a close call. You are so strong, Becky.”
Becky glared at me, “I didn’t welcome you in, did I?”
“Nope, that’s why I helped myself in,” I replied, walking over to her, and then extending out my hand to help her get back on her feet. “Get up.”
She slapped my hand away the next second, “Don’t come to help me when you are the one who caused the fall. I hate people like this the most.”
Then she got up on her own and patted away the dust off her clothes.
“Uh, I’m sorry for”
“Give me the puffs and leave. I don’t want you to stay in my room any more minutes,” she said, holding out her hand.
“Why are you treating me like I’m some bacteria or insect?” I asked, forcing the bag on her hands. “I’m also made of flesh and blood like you.”
