Chapter 112

I need to think about my strategy. How am I supposed to greet her? She’s been bullied right? So, I need to be gentle with her.
But, what if she hates me straight away? I already came over without letting him inform her. It’s true she might get angry.
I need to be prepared for anything. Yeah! Stay strong, Aileen.
“Who’s this?” a soft voice drew my attention.
I turned around the very minute to see a girl around my age standing.
She was a redhead with round glasses and freckles around her nose and cheeks which looked like natural blush.
She kept her head tied into a messy ponytail.
Is she…. his sister Becky? But, they look nothing alike. Wait, how am I supposed to talk to her again?
I forgot!
As soon as she saw me her eyes widened in shock.
“Are you my brother’s girlfriend?” she yelled in surprise. And it was so loud the whole house could hear her.
What? She thinks I’m Marshall’s girlfriend? Isn’t that a weird way to start the introduction?
I’m going off track right away.
“Well, I’m not”
“I didn’t see you in the kitchen so I got worried. But, why are you yelling now suddenly?” Marshall comments, walking over to my side.
Becky looked at him and glanced at me again.
“You have your girlfriend over? Why didn’t you tell me?” she retorted, clenching her fists tightly.
She’s still thinking I’m his girlfriend! What’s up with her?
“Well, I don’t need to inform you every little thing,” he sighed, folding his arms, “And when did I say, she’s my girlfriend? You are misunderstanding something.”
“She’s not?” she looked a bit relieved to hear that. She looked at me with prying eyes again.
“Then…. if she’s not your girlfriend, who’s she? Why did you bring her over without telling me? You know…. I don’t like strangers in my house,” she murmured.
A stranger? Well, yeah, I am a stranger to her. That’s right.
“You do understand that you were being rude to her by calling her a stranger, weren’t you?” he asserts, “Is this how you greet guests who come over to your house let alone a family member? Did Mom and Dad teach you that?”
She lowered her head, “No.”
“Then, why did you talk to her like that?”
She gulped, “That’s because you brought her over without telling me. You never had any friends over, let alone any girls. Of course that would make me nervous, right? Why do you do things that I hate? Do you do this on purpose? Why do you not try to understand me?”
Oh no, things aren’t going so well. I need to do something.
“You are wrong. I understand you, and I’m still trying my best to understand you thoroughly. But, you are the one who doesn’t try to understand my intentions the whole time,” he retorted, harshly. “You don’t even know her and you are behaving rudely with her the whole time. Does that even sound plausible to you?”
She pressed her lips, her narrowed causing an upset look on her face.
“It’s okay, Marshall, you don’t need to scold her anymore,” I interrupted, “It’s my fault I came here unannounced. It’s not Becky’s fault at all. Don’t blame her. It’s okay Becky, you can put the blame on me. I don’t mind.”
“No, it’s not right,” He retorted, “It’s not because you came unannounced. She behaves this way with anyone who comes here. I think it has become her habit to act this way towards anyone she doesn’t know previously, which, isn’t right at all!”
“But, look at”
“Why are you defending her in front of me? Am I not your sister?” she yelled, “You are supposed to defend me. But, you aren’t doing that! Why? What exactly does she mean to you? You never…. showed any affection towards any outsider before. Then, what did she do to you to make her act like this with me? Is she controlling you with her looks or something?”
Don’t tell me she’s getting jealous of me. I literally have no sort of connections with him that she’s expecting! Girl, at least listen to us.
“You know it’s not possible to convince me with looks. So, stop daydreaming, and take back your words and apologize to her,” He replied sternly.
He’s the one I need to stop before he starts running his mouth again. Yeah.
“Please drop this subject! I don’t need her to apologize,” I replied, grabbing him by the arm. “Don’t you realize you are making her sad like this? Don’t do that.”
“No, you are wrong, if you let it slip off so easily”
I covered his mouth with my hand, “Please, just stop talking. I beg of you!” What am I going to do with the two of them?
“There’s no way, I’m going to apologize for anything!” Becky lashed out, “Cause I haven’t done anything wrong. You two are the wrong one.”
“Becky, you are”
She ran out of there upstairs before he could finish saying anything.
Oh no, she’s gone. I failed in the first stage.
