Aileen
Half an hour ago, Skylar and I were talking and he warned me to stay away from the people present at the party as all of them are rich and influential people.
We waited for a few minutes to pass so we could go out, and then I remembered something.
“Wait, did you know you would come to the party yesterday?” I asked.
“Uh…what?”
“Did you know or not? If you knew, why didn’t you tell me about it yesterday when you went shopping with me? Why did you keep it a secret from me?”
He lowered his gaze, scratching at his cheeks lightly when I asked this question.
“Uh, well…it’s not like I knew exactly back then….. you know? I mean I didn’t know exactly that I would be coming. As my cousin’s brother is the one who attends every party, I was lucky I got to come in his place. Everything is as simple as that.”
“Are you telling me the truth?”
He nodded aggressively. “Can you even find any reason to suspect me? Meeting you here was a coincidence.”
He sounded so convincing I couldn’t suspect him. He’s right. Why would he lie to me just because of some party?
The only thing I should do is to be thankful to him. Nothing else matters for now.
“Alright, I believe in you,” I replied. “Let’s get out of here. We’ve been here for a while. I need to look for my parents also.”
He agreed with me. “You are right. Let’s go find your dad. Or mom. You’ll be safe with them the most right now. Come, I’ll bring you over safe and sound.”
We both headed out of the bathroom and looked around while walking together.
I hope you are nearby Dave. I wonder how you are going to react after finding out the danger I was in.
But, I can’t tell all of that to you yet.
“Skylar, before we see my dad. Can you promise me one thing? It’s between us only.”
“Yeah, why are you hesitating in the first place? Go on.”
“Then, can you promise that you won’t say anything about what happened to me earlier either of my parents?”
He stalled in his tracks, looking at me puzzled. “But, aren’t you going to tell them about it ever? This ain’t right you know it. They should know about your well-being.”
“Yes, I know. But, I know they won’t stay still after finding out bout this news. So, let the party slide, I’ll tell them everything myself at home.”
“You will?”
“Yeah.”
“Alright then, I won’t tell them anything from my side.”
“Good, thanks.”
“You are welcome.”
A few minutes later, we managed to find Dave. And he wasn’t alone. There was a woman who he was talking with and laughing.
She also hugged him and he talked with her so happily, that I almost mistook her as his wife or lover. Let alone, Mate.
“Aileen, who’s this woman? Do you know her? Is it your Mom? She looks pretty and young.” He comments.
“Uh, no. She’s not my Mom. She might be one of the guests. Let’s go and surprise him.”
He nodded and we approached him. That woman was the one who saw us first and then that’s how the situation turned out like this.
And yet, I can’t believe how I’m meeting my grandma who’s even younger than my mom.
“Eh….” Sarah gave a nervous laugh, glancing at Dave. “She’s a bit funny, isn’t she? Certainly, an interesting child.”
“Yeah, she is,” Dave replied, laughing back.
“You can call me anything you want,” she replied, holding me by the shoulder. “Miss Sarah, or just Sarah or Granma Sarah. Anything works with me. I’m glad to have you as my granddaughter. No wonder Dave talks so much about you. You are really different.”
Does he talk about me with her? That’s…. a bit unexpected but not bad at all.
“And what else does he talk about with you?” I asked. “You two look like very close friends even though you are supposed to be his mom. So, you must be a good person as well. I believe it.”
She blinked twice and laughed at hearing that. “Aww…. Dave, she’s so cute. I can’t help but feel like abducting her so I can take her home with me. This may be the first time, someone told me I’m a good person.”
“Hey, don’t do that!” He warned. “I need to take her home or else her mom will be worried.”
Sarah laughed turning to Skylar, “I’m just joking. Anyway, we’ve forgotten about this young man completely. Sorry, she took all the spotlight.”
“It’s okay. You three talk, I’m leaving, excuse me.”
“What? But, you can stay. There’s no need to leave”
“No, this is your family union. I shouldn’t be here, I feel like an outsider. So, leave me out of it,” Skylar replied, turning to me. “Bye, Aileen. See you later at college.”
“Uh, sure. Bye, Skylar.”
