Dave
I’ve had enough of this! She keeps toying with me. Does she even know how much hurt I am by her actions?
She looked at me awestruck. The playful grin on her face disappeared leaving a stoic expression.
“I never said I like him. You are the one who’s jumping to conclusions every single time!” she retorted, which almost sounded like a yell.
“I’m jumping to conclusions?”
“Yes, you are! Why do you suspect that just because I’m hanging out with boys I’m into them or something? Do you not have any faith in me? In my love?” Her words almost shook me to the core.
“I…it’s not like that. I just”
“You what? Just tell the truth to my face! It’ll be easier that way. For both of us.”
“It’s not what you think Aileen!” I replied, grabbing onto her arm tightly. “I just get angry for no reason when I see you acting all friendly with another guy other than me. Cause I believe, you should love me, and have feelings for me only. As I also feel the same way towards you.”
“But, should you let your anger control you and your actions?” she replied, looking me in the eye.
“That’s not right. I know that as well. But, still”
“But still you manage to make stupid decisions,” she mumbled.
I lowered my eyes in response. “Yeah. I’m sorry about it.”
“Don’t you think you seem to be saying sorry a lot lately?”
“That’s”
She reached out her other hand to caress my face.
“Even though you are an adult, you keep making mistakes like children. It proves that no matter how wise you grow, you are bound to make mistakes. Isn’t it?”
I just nodded lightly, observing her face.
“I guess so. We make mistakes, and that makes us human even though we are not normal humans, but proud wolves.”
“But, you are more human than anyone out here,” she remarks in a bitter tone. “You keep repeating the same mistake of misunderstanding me.”
I used my other hand to pull her closer to me, as I looked deep into her eyes.
“It’s because of my Alpha status, which makes me feel so jealous towards any other guy who tries to get close to you. Because you are my mate! You can’t be with anyone else other than me. Cause, I don’t like to share my things. Once I claim you, then you are mine to call.”
She chuckled lightly. “Are you sure I belong to you? Cause if I did, then you wouldn’t be insecure that anyone else might try to take me away from you or I would cheat on you. Because you have to believe in your partner. Whether you want it or not. Cause, that’s what normal people do.”
My grip on her hands loosened the very minute. Cause, I had believed even for an instant, that she might have any feelings for Marshall.
And that wasn’t right for me to do in any possible way.
How could I suspect her so easily? I’m not a good partner!
“I guess, you figured out your mistake already. Then, you should leave. You are getting late for work.” She added, backing away from me.
I was about to speak but, stopped myself from doing that. I’m no good. I’m no good for her at all!
“I’m sorry, bye,” I turned away to leave and closed the door behind me when I left.
I’m ashamed of myself. In which way am I suited for her? When I keep hurting her from time to time?
I went to my room and placed my hand on the knob about to turn it on. But, someone interrupted the very minute.
“Um, Master. Good to see you. Won’t you come down for breakfast?”
I stopped and replied, “Yes, coming in a minute.”
It seems I’ve become blind to my own mistakes. But, until I accept my fault, I won’t be able to forgive myself.
During breakfast, Emilia came and joined me. Aileen didn’t come, and that was expected.
We were talking, and then suddenly, she brought up something.
“So, did you make up with Aileen yet? Your face tells me, both of you are still fighting,” she comments.
Fighting? Yeah, fighting an invisible battle for no reason.
“It’s okay, everything will be better soon, I hope,” I replied, looking at her.
She gave me an assuring smile, placing her hand on top of mine.
“You may be fighting, but I know how much you love her and care for her. So, you don’t need to explain to me.”
“Thanks.”
“I’m heading to work after this. Do you mind dropping me on the way there?” she requested.
“Sure, why not?”
She still believes that my feelings for her parents, which are equally not! I feel afraid to think what might be her reaction if she finds out there’s anything between us. Oh, the horror.
All I can hope for that day is for her to believe in me and put herself in my shoes. So, she can realize why anything happened to us in the first place.
Why we met, and why destiny bound us together.
I didn’t see Aileen afterward for the rest of the day cause I was on my way to work. After dropping Emilia to the hospital I went to work.
During lunch break, I received a text message from Aileen.
“Did you eat yet?”
“No, why? Are you worried for me?”
“Yes, isn’t that normal? Unlike you, I actually care about you and your needs. So, just because of what happened in the morning, don’t starve yourself. I can’t stand that.”
I don’t know why, but a sense of fondness washed over me with her words. Even when fighting she still cares about me? Aren’t I so lucky?
“So, you want me to eat? If you say yes, I’ll eat.”
“Isn’t this a bit childish for you to do something like this?”
I chuckled, “Yes, I’m a stubborn child now. Now, tell me what do you want me to do? Starve or eat?”
She took a few minutes to respond.
“I’m telling you to eat! So, stop bothering me and go and eat your lunch. Or you might act irritated at work all day.”
Can’t be honest about your feelings can’t you now?
I took a picture of the food on my table and sent it to her.
“Here’s my lunch. Are you happy now?”
“Yes, but I still can’t believe you are eating it. So, send me a picture of you eating. That’ll be good.”
“What? Isn’t that too unreasonable?”
“Do you think you have a choice here? Now, hurry up and do it.”
At the end, I ate and took pictures of me eating the food.
“Here, are you happy now? Now, go and eat your lunch as well. Don’t starve because of me.”
“As if I would because of you! You think too highly of yourself.”
Acting so tough, even though you were the one begging me to eat just a while ago. You know how to act and make people listen to you, don’t you?
“Anyway, reflect on your mistakes thoroughly. Or else I’m not talking to you again. Bye!”
“Bye…”
“Now, who’s the mature one in the relationship here?” Aaron remarks. “You are not, I can say with confidence.”
Yeah, tease me as you want. I won’t deny it. She’s the mature one here. Yes, she also has her setbacks, but she still keeps her head calm and doesn’t make hasty decisions like me. She doesn’t let her thoughts take over her head and searches for solutions logically.
That’s why she can face difficult situations more than me. Where I am practically useless.
“Use your brain to think, and not let your heart decide everything for you. Then only, you can make yourself useful and stop causing unnecessary trouble for yourself.” Aaron suggested. “Anyway, this is the least I can help you with. The rest you have to take care of yourself. Do the one thing that you really need to do.”
Something I really need to do? That is?
“Alpha, can I come in?” someone’s voice drove to my attention.
I looked towards the door to see Marshall standing.
“Yes, come in.”
I was in the middle of eating when he came.
He came inside and stood in front of my desk.
“Are you here to report me something?” I asked, glancing down at my food to distract myself.
“Uh, no. We only talk about work most of the time. But, during break hours I thought we could talk about something personal as well. Is it alright with you?”
As soon as I heard that, I raised my eyes to look up.
Talk about personal?
“And what might that be?” I asked.
“It’s about me and Aileen,” he replied quite casually.
I dropped my spoon in shock the very minute.
About….. him and Aileen? What does he wanna talk about the two of them? Of course, it’s not what I think it is right?
“Oh, you dropped your spoon. Let me grab you another one. Give me a minute,” he said, before walking out of the room.
No, calm down. I promised I wouldn’t doubt her anymore. Why am I repeating the same mistake then?
Even if he said it’s about the two of them, it doesn’t mean it’s related to their relationship or anything like that.
I’m really overreacting a little bit. I should clear my head. Everything will be fine! Be positive!
I took a deep breath and he came back a minute later.
“Here you go,” he handed me the spoon, before sitting down right in front of me. “So, can we talk while you eat? As it might take a bit of time, I want to finish by the lunch hours.”
“Uh…hm…sure.”
Why’s he making it sound so serious?
