Aileen
As I walked through the crowded corridor I recalled Dave’s words when we were in the car.
“If you think your words and behaviors for these past days are wrong, then we can sort things over coffee.”
Am I….. really wrong? Yes, I’m angry, but I did say some horrible things out of my anger, which can’t be justified in any way.
But, it’s all because I can’t bear to be ignored by him. I love him so much. Why doesn’t he realize that?
“And yet you are hurting him. When will you give up?” my wolf asked. “There’s no point in both of you hurting each other. Please end this chain of suffering. It’s not benefitting any of you.”
Yes, I know that. You don’t have to tell me!
“If you know that, then stop being stubborn and makeup! Cause you were the one who started all this in the first place.”
She’s right. I need to end this today. It can’t go on forever.
I entered the classroom unconsciously and took a seat in a corner. Rosalia entered the classroom next and came to sit with me.
After the first class was over, I was about to leave but Skylar blocked my path.
“What? Why are you standing in front of me?” I asked.
He came forward and stood face to face. “You…. are hanging out with Lia a lot lately and you two even sit together. Why’s that? Are you two friends now or something?”
Oh, that’s what he’s interested to know.
“Even if we were, that’s not your problem. Is it?” I retorted. “Get out of my sight. I need to go.”
“You can’t leave without answering my question,” he grunted. “Are you two friends now or something? Yes or no!”
Gosh, he’s so stubborn.
“Yes, are you done now?”
“You can’t be friends with her,” he interrupted. “You simply can’t do it.”
“And, what’s the reason behind it? Why can’t we be friends?”
He reached out his hand and played with some strands of my hair in his fingers.
“Well, you see….. Lia is a dangerous woman. If you stick with her all the time, she might try to put you in danger as well, which I don’t want because I wish for your well-being. So, for your own good, stop hanging out with her. It’s as simple as that.”
He gave me such a good threat without even making it look like one. Skylar is really something.
But, it won’t work on me. He’s not my guardian. He can’t force me into doing things I don’t want to.
I sighed and patted on his shoulder with a smile. “Look here. Rosalia and I were really good friends. That’s why I can’t risk my friendship just because of an outsider like you. So, just back off if you can.”
“You are going to regret it,” he replied with a serious look. “You’ve been only friends with her for one day. You don’t even know her well. But, I know her. And that’s why I’m advising you. Listen to me!”
“And what makes you think I’m going to listen to your advice?” I snapped. “Yeah, you know her well, she’s your ex. But that doesn’t label her as evil, does it?”
“I don’t need to label her,” he fumed, folding his arms over his chest. “She is one. An evil demon.”
“Come on! What did she ever do you?”
He rolled his eyes at me. “You don’t need to know that. Just do as I say. It’s for your own good.”
Why the hell is he so demanding for?
I tried to walk past him without saying anything in response, but he grabbed onto my hand.
“Hey, where are you going without giving me an answer? You’ll stop hanging out with her, right?”
“It depends, and don’t touch me casually. We aren’t friends,” I asserted, slapping his hand away.
Then continued to walk away from his side without looking back behind me. Gosh, he’s so stubborn.
Why the hell is he so concerned about it? The only one dangerous here is him only. He’s been continuing to disturb me since day one. And here blaming Rosalia, weirdo.
During the lunch break, I was walking past the principal’s office. It was then I saw Rosalia walking out. She has a grin on her face.
She bumped into me without realizing it.
“Oh, Aileen. Where are you going?”
“To the cafeteria to eat. What are you up to?” Can’t tell her about what Skylar said to me about her. I finally have a friend in my class and he’s telling me to break off our friendship. No way!
“Me? Uh….”
“I saw you coming out of the principal’s. Did you have any business with him?”
My question made her face look a bit pale. She looked anxious and puzzled.
Did I ask anything weird? Why’s she looking like that?
“Rosalia? Is everything alright? You are sweating like crazy?” I inquired offering her my handkerchief but she refused it.
“Uh, I’m fine. I went to talk to him about my grades. Nothing else,” she stuttered. “Anyway, you were going to the cafeteria. Get going then. See you back in class.”
“Um, sure then-”
Even before I could finish my sentence she was already on her way out of there.
Why did she act so suspiciously? I didn’t ask her anything weird.
After that, Rosalia behaved normal. But, people around us were starting to see us weirdly. And it’s all because she dated Skylar before and now Skylar is trying to hit on me. Both of us are in a difficult situation all because of that damn rascal.
Even during the hustle and bustle of the classroom, I thought over Dave and our relationship and decided to confront him without any hatred or anger.
Right after college was over, Rosalia disappeared off to somewhere so I was forced to walk out on my own.
Suddenly, a pair of hands wrap around my shoulder. At first, I thought it was her so I turned around to see only to find Skylar standing.
My disappointment was visible. “You? Why are you here?” I yelled, trying to swat his hands off.
“Hm…why? Am I not allowed to head home with you?” he added with a smirk. “And I noticed you didn’t take my warning at all. Why are you still hanging out with Lia? I told you not to do that! Why do you never listen?”
“I never told you I’m obliged to listen to you. I’m not your slave!” I retorted, pushing him away, and tried to walk as fast as possible.
But, he ran after me and soon managed to catch up to me. “Chill, I never told you that you are my slave. You are interpreting my words wrongly.”
“Oh, am I now? Then, why are you bothering me? Go on with your day. Where are your buddies? Did they not wait for you?”
“You are talking about the boys? Yeah, they left without me. But, I don’t mind that. Cause I’m walking home with a beauty,” he added, walking right beside me. “Hey, do you want me to give you a ride? This way, I can meet your parents as well.”
I stopped in my tracks to hear that.
“That’s not happening in a million years,” I replied courtly before picking up my speed again.
He became dumbfounded. “What? Hey, you’re leaving me behind!”
He kept calling me and I covered my ears not wanting to hear his voice. But, when his attempts weren’t working, he grabbed me by the hand and pulled me towards him among the crowd of students walking past us.
We both looked into each other’s eyes, and I noticed how close our bodies were pressed against each other’s.
This…this isn’t right! I tried to break free, but he kept me in place.
“Hey, let go of me!” I glared, “I’m tired of your bullshit.”
“The whole campus is crazy in love with me and you are tired of me. Now, that’s really interesting,” he remarks with a grin. “How did I tire you? Or rather I should ask how did I make you hate me? Cause I remember I’ve always wanted to be liked by you.”
“Are you asking seriously?”
“Yes, I am. So answer seriously or else I’ll not let go of you. And you’ll be forced to stay in this closed proximity with me for a couple of more minutes.”
“That sounds sick. I might vomit,” I replied with a pleasant smile. “To be honest, I hate your over-friendly attitude. And minus points for you to poke into my personal life and affairs. Girls hate this the most. So, yeah improve these parts and I might not mind being friends with you again.”
He was actually a bit impressed by my response.
“Cool, that sounds neat. And I didn’t know you were quirky like that. You have an amazing personality, don’t you?”
“Hm…I do. And it’s a hell better than your-”
“Aileen!” Dave’s faint yell from far away drew my attention. I looked around and noticed that he was heading towards our direction at a superhuman speed.
Dave’s here? And why’s he in so a hurry? What’s up with that scowl on his face? Is he angry?
Before I could figure out anything he was here in front of us and he grabbed me by the arm and snatched me away from Skylar’s grasp the very minute.
“You’re coming with me!” he hollered low, but I could see the silent anger flashing in his orbs.
I might be in trouble today. And it’s all thanks to Skylar.
I nodded lightly and in the blink of an eye, he dragged me out of the college gate towards the direction where he parked his car.
Opening the door he commanded me to go inside and I complied without any resistance.
Goddess, what’s waiting for me?
