Aileen
Can I do anything to help him out?
It feels wrong if I don’t. Cause, after all, he went out of his way to tell me about his sister’s story. It must’ve been hard for him to talk about it. And yet he did. I should respect his will and offer some help.
I cleared my throat and turned to face him. “Um, if there’s anything I can help you out with? Did you tell me her story because you want me to help you convince her to come to college every day perhaps?” 183
Marshall looked at me quite surprisingly. As if he didn’t expect that response from me.
“Really? You want to help out Becky to come to college?”
He didn’t think I would help. As expected.
“Well, I have no problem with that. If you want, I can try to help her. It won’t be that hard.” I guess….
The corner of his eyes filled with tears the very second. He held onto my hands and smiled.
“Aileen, Thank you. I’ll be forever grateful to you if you can do that. Becky will become normal again. I can see her enjoying life as she used to. She’ll smile like she used to. That’ll be so great!”
“It is. I’ll do everything in my power to make it come true,” I replied, smiling.
He retreated his hands and replied, “Wait, I’ll give you her number and mail. You can contact her whenever you want to.”
“Sure.”
Afterward, I reached home in twenty minutes.
I got out of the car and stood near the window. “Thanks for the ride. I appreciate it.”
He peeked out his face replying, “The pleasure is mine. Just keep in mind the promise you made. That’ll be great.”
I nodded then waved at him before walking away, “bye.”
He waved back, driving away.
He’s not exactly what I expected him to be. He’s painfully nice and also loves his family. It’s hard to find a guy like him nowadays.
Well, Dave is also like that. He puts his family before anything else.
When I stepped inside and looked around the empty house I realized that I was the only one at home.
They said they’ll be back by the evening. Where are they now? I dropped my bag on the couch and picked out my phone to dial Dave’s number.
But, I stopped myself from doing that.
No, I shouldn’t disturb them. If they are coming late, let them come later.
And I’ve managed to disturb them several times since the morning. I shouldn’t do that.
Aileen, learn to have some patience. It’s not like the whole world is coming down in one day!
I picked up my bag and got up on my feet to head upstairs. Closing the door, I went to take a shower.
I stood under the water all naked and closed my eyes to relax. Out of nowhere, the time I spent with Dave in the morning flashed in my mind.
How he enjoyed my touch, how his muscles tensed, how he tried to control the hunger visible in his eyes.
Everything was setting my body on fire. I could feel my body growing hot at the thought of him.
I wish you were Dave. Only you can make me feel this way.
After drying off, I stepped into my room with the towel around me.
Suddenly, my phone started ringing. Who’s calling me now? I found my phone on the table. I picked up to see Marshall’s name.
When did he get my number? Oh, we exchanged numbers when I was in his car.
How could I forget?
Let’s see what he has to say.
“Hello.”
“Hello, Aileen, am I disturbing?”
“Uh, no. What’s the matter? Is it Becky? Is she alright?”
“Hm, yeah. You know what? I told her about you.”
“You did? How did she react? And isn’t that too soon?”
“No, no, calm down it’ll be alright. She was a bit upset and angry at first. But, then she said she doesn’t mind meeting you. This is the first time she said she wants to meet someone willingly outside her family. You are great Aileen!”
“I see….. that’s great.”
“I really owe you. If I get to see her improvement I’d like to treat you to a meal as thanks. How does that sound?”
“Um, thanks. But you really don’t have to go that far. I’m not helping you to receive any reward for it.”
Marshall sighed in response.
“Aileen, look you are the one helping me here without any sort of compensation. I can at least treat you to a meal. Don’t deny that. Or else I’ll feel bad for making you work for free.” He pleaded.
“Uh…well…. if you are insisting so much. Then, yeah sure.”
“Did you say yes?”
“Uh-hm.”
“Great! Did you have dinner yet?”
“Uh, not yet. I just took a bath. I’m planning to eat afterward.”
“Are your parents back?”
“Hm…. no. Not yet.”
“Then, you’ll eat dinner on your own today?” his tone sounded a bit down as if he was trying to be a bit sympathetic.
“I guess so. You ate already?”
“Nah, I’m having some beer while relaxing on the couch. Will eat later.”
