Aileen
I got dressed and went to my room and organized my bag for college. But, when I went downstairs to have break I found out that Dave and Mom had gone somewhere so the driver will drop me off to college.
I couldn’t believe it so I tried to text Dave about it. But he wasn’t replying nor picking up my calls.
What’s going on with him?
“When did they leave?” I asked the maid.
“Just a while ago, right before you came downstairs. Madam told me to inform you and Master instructed the driver to drop you off at college.”
Going to college is not the solution to everything, is it?
Why couldn’t you stay behind to inform me yourself? Why were you in so much hurry?
I’m so upset. I want to take out my anger somehow.
“Princess, would you like to have breakfast right away? The food is ready,” the maid interrupted.
I clenched my fists, looking at my hands. “Alright. Bring over the food. I’ll leave in a few minutes, tell the driver.”
“Right away Miss.”
Dave…this wasn’t a good decision to leave without informing me. I’m going to be mad at you and you can’t convince me.
I went to college but I couldn’t forget about Dave. I understand Mom and he are a couple after all. But, I’m also important to him.
Why can’t he pick up my call or either respond to texts? It’s not fair he can ignore me like this!
I walked towards the classroom while recalling how the last night had gone.
I can still remember how his face looked when I was going down on him. But, Mom had to come back that instant. I wanted to spend some more time with him.
If we didn’t live under the same roof things would’ve been so easy. When is that day going to come?
“Hey cutie pie, good morning,” the familiar voice of a guy made me turn behind me.
And as I thought it was Skylar. Why does he appear out of nowhere to disturb me? I think he’s stalking me.
If I ignore him he won’t disturb me. Yeah. I walked past his side, and thankfully he didn’t call back.
I’m safe now.
“Did you think ignoring me will make me go away?” Skylar comments, standing right in front of me out of nowhere.
I was startled. I stepped back in response. “You? When did you get here?”
His brows furrowed, as he stepped closer.
“Just now. But, you are being a bully by not paying any attention to me. Do you know that?”
“So what if I am?” I retorted. “You are annoying. You know that?”
“Annoying? I’m annoying you?” he asked, all surprised.
Is he dumb or what? How much insensitive can one person be? He’s pestering me since yesterday and is now asking whether he’s annoying me or not?
You have to be kidding me!
“Yes, can’t you”
“Skylar, what are you doing with the Alpha’s daughter?” a loud squeal made me spin around.
A group of girls approached us who seemed to be from my department. Are they here for Skylar? I hope so.
The one who led them was a girl with dirty blond hair and amber eyes. She was quite taller than me, at 6 feet in height.
She looked at me with a fake smile. “You….”
“Aileen,” I replied.
“Oh, right Aileen the Alpha’s daughter. What are you doing out here with Skylar? Talking?”
“Uh, no. He was the one who”
“Yes, we are chatting,” Skylar responded, wrapping his arm around my shoulder. “Can’t you see? Now, go and disappear.”
Wait, why is he touching me without my permission? I tried to push his hand away, but his hold was strong.
“This is no way to talk to your ex girlfriend, is it Skylar?” the girl next to her comments with a glare.
“It’s my wish whom I want to talk to in what way I want. You can’t lecture me about it, can you?” Skylar retorted with a smile.
Ex-girlfriend? Who?
“But”
“Leave it at that Noir, he has always been like this,” the blond-haired girl replied, “Skylar and his attitude can never change easily. We should know that.”
“That’s true,” the other girl giggled.
“If you know me so well, why don’t you leave me alone and disappear already?” Skylar grunted, pulling me close to him. “We are busy by ourselves and I don’t want to see you disturbing us.”
“You are so rude,” the blondie replied with a suspicious gaze. “I wonder why I was in a relationship with you? I must’ve been blind.”
“Hm…then you should get your eyes checked,” Skylar retorted with a chuckle. “Or do you need help bringing you to the eye hospital?”
“Don’t worry, I won’t need your help. You can stay assured,” she beamed a smile turning to me. Her face turns quite serious the very second.
“You seem to be having fun with Skylar without knowing what is his true face. Is it all alright for you to do that? Won’t you suffer the consequences later?”
Consequence? I don’t even want to talk to him, let alone have fun together. Is she imagining it or what?
“You are scaring her Lia!” Skylar stated in a manly voice, grabbing onto my shoulders. “Back off!”
Lia? Her name is Lia?
Lia’s nose wrinkled in disgust. “Aren’t you a bit overprotective over her? This looks quite unnatural for a playboy like you. Did she manage to catch your eye or something?”
“But, she’s not more pretty than you Lia. Don’t worry!” two boys behind them yelled, giggling.
I looked around and noticed that we had managed to garner so much attention that almost all the students passing by the hallway were looking at us only.
Why are they making a scene here and also pulling me into this as well? I never asked for it!
“You all must be blind if you can’t appreciate Aileen’s beauty,” Skylar remarks with a smirk. “After all, she’s not artificial like Lia. She’s a genuine natural product, right Aileen?”
Lia became angry the very minute. “Hey, who are you calling artificial? What’s artificial about me anyway? I look completely natural!”
“If you wipe your face off you can find a pound of make-up smeared onto her face. And she’s calling this natural. She’s so dumb, isn’t she? Or can we say smart?”
Lia’s face was turning red with anger, and her fists were clenched as well.
Why’s this not letting go of me? I’m getting included in their quarrel for no reason.
“I don’t have make up on! Mind your own business!” Lia stated, pointing in Skylar’s direction. “If you try to pull my leg again, I’ll be forced to take action against you.”
“Oh yeah?” He mused. “What action are you going to take? Sue me? Kick me out of this college? Or make me date you? I think you prefer the latter out of all these options.”
Lia snapped and gave a slap across Skylar’s face. He was stunned. And I was surprised by her actions as well.
Did she really do it in front of so many people? You rock, Lia!
“You’re the worst!” she added, before walking out of there right away. The other girls followed behind her.
It seems she’s the leader of that girls’ group. Things are so complicated in this college.
Skylar stood still receiving the impact, but his grip on my shoulder loosened. So, I took the chance to get away from his arms.
“Bye,” I whispered before walking away from his side.
I don’t want to get caught up in the mess anymore.
I entered classroom straight away and the class began but Skylar was nowhere to be seen.
Lia was there but looked absent-minded.
They seem to have a bad relationship. But, what do I care?
In the middle of the break, I texted Dave again. Still, no response came.
Feeling irritated I called Mom this time. After the third try, she picked up the call.
“Uh, hello? Who?”
“Mom! It’s me, Aileen. I’ve been trying to reach you for a while. But you weren’t picking up the call”
“Oh, Aileen. What’s the matter dear? Are you in any problem? I thought you went to college?”
“Well, I am in college now. but, I was worried that you weren’t answering your phone. As you left without informing me in the morning.”
And Dave as well.
“Oh, I’m so sorry about it. We are currently driving through the highway. And it’s quite dangerous to drive while talking on the phone. That’s why I kept my phone silent. I didn’t hear it ring.”
“You didn’t? I see….”
I want to ask her where they are, but it would only make me feel sad than I’m already are. I could hear Dave’s voice in the background and he seemed to be quite happy by how joyous he sounded.
“Anyway, if there’s nothing important to ask can I hang up? We’re getting off.”
“Uh…hm…sure. Have fun. See you at home later.”
“Thanks Honey. Bye.”
After hanging up, I turned off my phone. Isn’t it great they are having fun together? I shouldn’t disturb them.
Were they always a happy couple like this? And I wasn’t aware of it? Maybe, when I moved here I manage to destroy the bond they had.
They can’t spend time together because of me? That’s why they went out today without telling me.
Then, doesn’t this make me the outsider here?
“Hey, is everything alright?” Skylar’s cheeky remark brought me back to reality.
He stood a few inches away from where I stood with his hands in his pockets.
I fisted my hands, looking away. “Why are you asking me that?”
He sighed, walking over to my side.
“You look like you are about to cry any moment. Am I right?” he comments with a stoic expression.
