Chapter 1010: Not an Attachment

Callie’s wrist ached, but she endured it and said loudly, “Joaquin! Don’t act rashly!”
He was opening the door when he suddenly stopped and asked, “In the end, you will still go back to the Ellison family, won’t you?”
Before Callie could answer, Joaquin had slammed the door and left.
The noise was so loud that Jamir, who had been watching, felt a bad premonition. He broke in directly, “Callie!”
Callie was half-lying on the bed, her brows furrowed in pain.
Jamir’s brow twitched, and his heart ached as he stepped forward to check on her, “Are you okay? Did that brat Joaquin make you angry?”
Callie didn’t let him touch her. He stood in the shadow, looking like a child who had done something wrong.
“Sorry, it’s my fault for not executing your plan well, which led to you getting hurt.”
Callie raised her hand to cover her eyes, plunging into darkness.
“When I got off the plane, why weren’t your people there to pick me up?”
“There was an accident; they’ve already been punished.”
“Joaquin and the others were let into the wedding by Nelson on purpose. And you, where were you then?”
Jamir couldn’t answer but quickly said, “I know it’s useless to say anything now. It’s all my fault. But at least the outcome is good, right? Ahmad is fine now and will wake up soon. After that…”
His words were cut off by Callie.
“I shouldn’t have relied on anyone in the first place. It’s not your fault; it’s mine.” She sat up and looked him in the eye. “Don’t take it to heart.”
Her calmness made Jamir uneasy. He half-knelt down, “If you’re angry, vent it out. Hit me, scold me, do whatever you want, just don’t be unhappy.”
Callie didn’t move.
Jamir looked up at her almost pleadingly, “What are your plans now? Will you go back to the Ellison family?”
He knew that Sienna and Ahmad were just momentarily upset. No matter what, they couldn’t abandon their biological daughter.
But Callie simply walked out of the ward and into the sunlight again. “I am not anyone’s accessory; I am just myself.”
Jamir’s figure wavered slightly in the shadow.
Outside, Bridger leaned against the wall. He wanted to smoke but was stopped by a nurse, so he gave up reluctantly, feeling irritated.
“I need to see her,” he repeated to Mollie.
“I’m not stopping you. Go in and tell her all your demands. See if she’ll go with you.”
Mollie smiled brightly.
Bridger’s impatience was rising, almost unable to hold back. “The Oconnor Group is in trouble. If she doesn’t see Nelson and her shares are acquired, she won’t have a good time.”
Since Charlotte’s shocking scandal broke out and Ahmad was hospitalized, the Ellison family had been leaderless. Partnerships were dissolved, and the Oconnor Group faced enormous negative news and the risk of a broken capital chain.
There were even internal people eyeing them covetously.
Nelson’s current situation was more difficult than ever before. He had been staying at the Oconnor Group day and night with no free time.
If Nelson hadn’t pushed forward with Callie’s plan back then, the Oconnor Group wouldn’t be in this situation.
But he knew exactly what risks he would face and did it anyway.
He gambled everything.
Mollie listened without much reaction. “I told you, tell her yourself.”
Bridger squinted his eyes. “She won’t listen to me; she might listen to you.”
Mollie wanted to say Callie wouldn’t listen to her either but still smiled. “Beg me, Mr. Kaiser. If you want help, you need to ask properly.”
