TIFFANY’S POV
“Oh, my darling,” Shawn’s mother exclaimed as she rushed to her side. “Are you okay, my darling?” She asked, cupping her face.
She nodded, tears welling in her eyes. Oh how much she had missed their presence. Her father had tears of joy in his eyes as he walked to her and placed a kiss on her forehead.
At that point, she couldn’t hold back the tears. She let it all out. It was a miracle and a blessing at the Same time to be able to see the people that had always been there for her.
Shawn walked up next to her, and to get surprise and that of others, judging from their gasps of surprise, he took her lips in his, in a long, soothing kiss. When he pulled away, she realized how much she had missed the one man who had shown her love that was tantamount to her father’s.
“Thank you for fighting. For coming back to me, to us,” he said, his voice cracking with emotions.
She nodded, as tears kept streaming down her face in torrents.
“Thank you for not leaving, Shawn. He almost lost his sanity. I don’t know what you did to him, but you do have a really strong hold on him. Welcome back to us all,” Bryan said, handing her a flower.
Soon, the room was filled with laughter. Mrs Gold brought a flask containing food and attempted to feed Tiffany, but Shawn stopped the gesture.
“You can’t feed my wife when I’m here. That’s my duty, mum,” he said and took hold of the flask.
“This is my daughter in-law we are talking about. Hand the flask over to me, this minute,” she ordered.
“How about I, her father?” Mr Dion said, walking up to them.
“And I, the father in law,” Mr Gold said, joining.
And soon, they were all arguing about who should feed her, and who shouldn’t.
Tiffany watched them in amusement, and again, her heart swelled up in joy and happiness. At the end, Shawn won and was allowed to feed her.
“Open your mouth, my love,” he said, as he brought the spoon to her mouth.
Happily, she did. She ate until she was full and laid back to rest. Soon, her eyes were closed in sleep.
She woke up hours later, to find just Shawn seated on the couch and staring at her.
“You are awake,” he sat, flashing her a smile.
She returned it, as she groggily pulled herself up on the bed. “Where is everyone?”
“They have gone home?” he replied.
“And why are you still here? You should go home and rest too. It’s late,” she said.
“You know that’s not possible. I’m spending the night with you, and don’t try to convince me otherwise.” He said, his mouth set in a stubborn line.
“Thank you so much, Shawn. I love you,” she said, her eyes growing misty again.
“Nah, don’t cry. Please, don’t,” he stood and came to sit beside her on the bed.
“I can’t believe she could do something like that to me.” Her eyes were misty now.
“Who are you talking about?” He asked in a confused tone.
“Rachel Sparks. She is the one behind everything. All the attempts on my life. The kidnaps, Mary pushing me down the rooftop, the severing of my car brake wires…they were all orchestrated by her,” she broke into a sob now.
“I can’t believe this. Your friends were right,” He said.
“She also asked them to hit me until I lose my baby. She is evil, Shawn. She did all of that because of you. She is obsessed with you,”
“I can’t believe I didn’t see her for who she was. How dare her try to hurt you and our unborn child?”
SHAWN’S POV
He clenched and unclenched his fists as he consoled Tiffany. He couldn’t believe his ears. Rachel was responsible for severing Tiffany’s car brake wires at the supermarket? And she was responsible for her haemorrhaging?
He couldn’t believe the one person he called a friend could hurt his loved ones in this manner. Damn! Even his innocent unborn child. He had his doubts about what Shelley and Tiffany’s friends said, because somehow, somewhere in his heart, he wanted to make excuses for Rachel, but Tiffany confirming it, proved she was guilty.
He couldn’t wait for the police to catch her. He would kill her even before she faced the judge’s trial. He managed to get his mind off her as he consoled Tiffany. She and his unborn child were all that mattered to him.
Fortunately, he was able to get her to sleep back. Sighing in relief, he walked back and settled on the couch. He couldn’t sleep as his heart kept boiling in anger at the damage Rachel had almost caused to the life of his wife and unborn child.
Feeling the need to get out and have some fresh air, he stealthily walked out of the room to avoid rousing Tiffany from sleep. He got outside, to the hospital compound and took a walk around. Things had taken a surreal turn in the past few months and of everything, he was grateful he had Tiffany to call his.
She had brought so much love, light and happiness to him. Made him feel loved in ways he never thought possible. As if that was not enough, she was going to give him a child. A son or daughter.
He kept perambulating into the late night. It was until his legs began to hurt, he halted and took retreating steps. He got back to the room and was scared at the sight that met him.
Tiffany was thrashing on the bed as she kept muttering “my baby.” She was obviously having a nightmare as a result of the kidnap experience.
“I’m here, baby. You are no longer with them. You are safe and back to me,” he said, scoping her into his arms.
Her eyes flew open as they shone in fear and glistened with tears. “My baby,” she muttered slowly and stared down at her stomach.
“Our baby is safe. It was just a nightmare. You are safe now,” he said, pecking her cheeks.
“It felt so real. Like I was still there. I could still see her taunting face, and how she threatened that I wouldn’t make it out alive,” she said as she buried her face in his arms.
Shawn’s heart broke into a million pieces. She was hurting, and it riled him up. He prayed, the incident doesn’t affect her mental state. He kept rocking her in his arms as she fell asleep. This time, he refused to leave her side.
He gently laid down beside her on the bed, and drew her into him and they slept in that position.
The ringing of his phone roused him up from sleep the next morning, as he frantically looked for his phone. He didn’t want the ringtone to wake Tiffany. He found the phone in his pocket and quickly answered the call, as it was officer Fowler calling
“Shawn, we found her. She was attempting to flee the country when my men apprehended her at the airport. Kindly come to the precinct,” officer Fowler said over the phone.
That bitch! She was attempting to flee after the havoc she had wreaked? He turned to look at a sleeping Tiffany beside him. He sighed in relief, pecked her cheeks and got off the bed. He took hold of the pen and book on the table and scribbled some words before hurrying out.
