SHAWN’S POV
After he left the hospital to meet Officer Fowler at the precinct, he was greeted with a heart wrenching news.
“I’m sorry, but we have tried our best but there is no lead yet,” officer Fowler had said to him.
“Officer, please do something. My wife can’t be in God knows where with those criminals.”
After he left the hospital to meet Officer Fowler at the precinct, he was greeted with a heart-wrenching news.
“I’m sorry, but we have tried our best, but there is no lead yet,” Officer Fowler said solemnly.
His heart sank at the officer’s words. How could there be no lead? How could they have no idea where Tiffany was being held captive?
“Officer, please do something,” he pleaded, “My wife can’t be in God knows where with those criminals. You have to find her.”
“Mr. Gold, I understand g
how you feel, and I assure you, we are doing everything we can to locate her. Our entire team is focused on this case, and we won’t stop until we bring her back safely.”
He nodded, though his mind was clouded with worry and fear. “I need you to update me immediately if any new information arises.”
“Absolutely,” Officer Fowler replied. “You have my word that we won’t keep you in the dark. As soon as we have any lead or any progress, we will notify you right away.”
As he got to the house, it felt empty without Tiffany in it. His thoughts raced with countless possibilities, each horrifying than the last. He pictured her trapped in an unknown location, scared and alone, and he shuddered.
He walked upstairs and to his room, now theirs. He walked to her belongings, her scent lingered in the air, reminding him of the love they shared and the memories they had created in the room. Clutching onto her sweater, he closed his eyes, wishing she would return to him.
“I won’t give up Tiff,” he whispered, his voice filled with determination. “I will find you, no matter what it takes. Just hold on, my love.”
Exhausted from the emotional rollercoaster and the sleepless night from the previous day, he crawled into bed. As he closed his eyes, he fell into an exhausted slumber.
But just as he started drifting off, his phone suddenly rang, jolting him awake. Disoriented, he fumbled for his phone in his pants pocket. It was his father calling.
“Hello?” he answered, his voice groggy with sleep.
“Shawn, we’re on our way to your house,” his father’s voice sounded urgent. “Your mother and wife’s father are with me. We need to discuss our next steps in finding her.”
“Okay, Dad,” he replied, trying to steady his voice. “I’ll be waiting for you.”
As he ended the call, he got off the bed and walked downstairs to wait for them.
They arrived a few minutes later and his mum immediately engulfed him in a motherly hug.
“Oh, my poor boy. This must be really hard on you,” she said.
“How are you, son?” His father asked.
“Restless. I can’t find peace knowing that it’s almost 48 hrs and my wife has not been found. I’m scared,” he said solemnly.
“Any news from the police?” It was Tiffany’s father asking now.
“That said they have not gotten any lead and will update me if any arises.”
“This is bad,” his father murmured, shaking his head.
Shawn just sat and stared into space.
SHAWN’S POV
After his parents and Mr Dion left, he stayed back in the sitting room, thinking. Soon, tears streamed down his cheeks as pain tugged at his chest. It felt like an important part of him had been detached and his survival rate was declining.
He doubts he would ever be the same if anything happened to Tiffany. The thought of losing her got him breaking down in sobs.
He fell asleep on the couch and woke up the next morning tired, hungry without an appetite. He went upstairs to freshen up and get ready for work. As much as he didn’t feel like it, he had to clear some paperwork on his table.
After he was done, he forced coffee and bread down his throat before leaving. He arrived at work, ignoring his workers’ greetings.
In his office, he could not concentrate on work despite how hard he tried, so he had to push the paperwork away and keep staring into space.
At noon, Officer Fowler called and asked him to come over to the precinct. He parked his belongings because he didn’t intend to return to the office after he was done at the precinct.
“Thanks for coming. So, I was thinking we should offer a reward to anyone who has information about your wife’s whereabout” officer Fowler said when he got to his office.
“A reward? That would make us go public and people will know what’s going on. I don’t want public eyes and besides, it might lead to fake people coming forward to claim they have information all in a bid to extort money. I don’t think that is a good idea.”
“Yeah, it might not be. But, at this point, we have run out of options. This alternative could still help in getting the kidnappers out of their shell especially if the prize money is huge.”
He stayed quiet, contemplating if he should take the option or reject it. Sighing in resignation, he finally gave in. Anything to ensure that his wife was back to him sound and safe, will be considered.
“Fine. Let’s do it,” he finally said.
“We will head over to the precinct media department and a video of you will be recorded, making the offer.”
“I’m ready,”
“Let’s go then,” officer Fowler said and led the way.
They walked through the hallway and soon arrived at the media department. They walked in and officer Fowler, after speaking to those in charge, asked Shawn to take position on a chair, while they prepared to start recording the video.
Sighing heavily, he walked to the chair and sat down. The cameraman got set and trained the camera on him.
“You can start now,” he urged.
Shawn cleared his throat and began…
“Good day, ladies and gentlemen. I come before you today with a heavy heart and a plea for help. My wife, Tiffany Dion, has gone missing for days. We are offering a reward to anyone who has information that could lead us to her whereabouts.
If you have any information, no matter how small, please come forward. Your identity will be kept confidential, and if your information leads to the successful rescue of her, you will be rewarded handsomely.
I implore you, the public, to stand with me during this difficult time. Thank you for your support.”
He finished the speech, his voice wavering with emotion. The cameraman stopped recording, and the room fell into silence.
He stood up from the chair, his legs wobbly. Quietly, he made his way out of the room.
