SHAWN’S POV
“Welcome to my office, Shawn Gold.” Office Fowler said and motioned him to a chair.
“Thank you,” he replied and took the seat.
“Could you please go over the details of the kidnap?”
“She was being driven home from school by her bodyguard when they got accosted on the highway and she was taken away.”
“And the bodyguard, where Is he?” the officer asked, taking note of all Shawn said.
“He is currently at the hospital. He was hit with a baton when he attempted to save her.”
“I’m guessing he told you all of these?”
“Yes, he did. As a matter of fact, he gave me your contact information.”
“Is that it? May I know his name, if you don’t mind.”
“Lucas Montgana.”
“Oh…. Lucas and my brother used to go way back. They were best friends in the army and they both resigned at the same time. My brother is playing hockey now, and Lucas, I think he offers bodyguard services to wealthy people. Let me guess, that was how you got to know him.”
“Yes, from a security agency.”
“And why does your wife need a bodyguard?”
“She was kidnapped a few weeks back, and after she was rescued, I decided to employ the service of a bodyguard.”
“She was kidnapped a few weeks back, and she has been kidnapped again?” the officer asked, not hiding his surprise.
“Yes,”
“Does she have a lot of enemies? I mean, someone or people who might want her to be harmed?”
“Yes, a fellow student at school, but she is at the juvenile center. She pushed my wife down the rooftop at school, but she can’t be the one behind all these attacks because she is locked away at the center.”
“Hmmm…I see. And you don’t think someone else might still be after her?”
“I don’t know, but I’m beginning to think in that direction.”
“Did Lucas see any of the kidnappers’ faces?”
“No, but he said he saw their car.”
“What car was it?”
“A grey sedan.”
“Did you say a grey sedan?”
“Yes, a grey sedan. Is something wrong?”
“No, yesterday a grey sedan was stolen. I’m just wondering if there could be a connection.”
“I honestly want my wife back, please.”
“You will have her back. It’s a promise and I need you to trust me.”
Shawn nodded as he looked around the spacious office. There were different awards hung on the office in honor of officer Fowler’s service to humanity.
“Can I have the details of the stolen car from yesterday?” Fowler said into the intercom.
A few minutes passed and he turned to Shawn. “I think the car the kidnappers used might have an affiliation with the stolen car from yesterday.”
“Do you think so?” Shawn asked, sitting up eagerly.
“Don’t raise your hope too high, it’s just an assumption but my men are working on it.”
Soon, a call came in and officer Fowler took it. “That’s good. Send in the details to me immediately. And, mobilize the boys we are leaving if I confirm the details.”
Shawn looked on in anticipation, as officer Fowler went through whatever details that were sent to him. He was tempted to call his father and Tiffany’s father but thought against it, as it would get them worried.
“My boys and I are leaving now. The owner of the car just informed us that she remembered a tracker was installed in the car when it was newly bought. Our tech guy has checked and it is showing us a location.” Officer Fowler said and stood up.
“Can I come with you?” Shawn asked as he got on his feet too.
“Yes, you can.” officer Fowler replied and picked up his jacket and glasses. He opened the drawer and took out a pistol and tucked it in his waistband.
“Let’s go,” he said and without hesitation, Shawn followed him out.
TIFFANY’S POV
She woke up and found herself in her room and many pairs of eyes were looking at her.
“She is awake,” someone said and she immediately recognized the voice as Shawn mother’s
“Tiffany, can you hear me?” Shawn asked, rushing to her side.
“Yes, I can. Dad?” she called out to her father.
“Yes, princess. Are you okay?” he answered, walking to stand close to Shawn.
“No. I almost got raped and pushed down a rooftop.” she replied and burst into tears.
“Oh, my darling,” Mrs Gold said and rushed to cuddle her on the bed.
“You are safe now. They can never get to you.” her father said soothingly.
“Mary…. Mary, she pushed me down the rooftop at school.” She said again, and everyone’s eyes widened.
“Do you remember that?” Shawn asked.
“Yes. She wanted me dead. I can’t believe she could do something like that.”
“Oh my God,” Mrs Gold said in excitement.
“Can you remember everyone in this room?” her Dad asked.
“Yes. You are here, Shawn is here and so are his parents.”
“Oh, goodness. Your memory is back, princess.” her Dad said excitedly.
“We Should call the doctor to come and check on her again.” Mr Gold suggested and everyone concurred. A call was placed to the doctor as everyone fussed about how her memory was back.
“Where are those men? The men that kidnapped me?” She asked when everything was calm.
“The one holding you on the rooftop was shot and he fell off the rooftop. It’s a miracle you did not fall with him. His accomplices escaped.” Shawn replied.
She nodded and stared down at her hands. There were bruises on them and they looked really red. She could bet her face looked worse from the multiple slaps and blows. Her hair scalp hurt too, but in all, she was happy she made it out alive.
“And you should know, Mary is in a juvenile center for what she did to you.” Shawn said.
She nodded again, at a loss on what to say. He has changed over the past couple of weeks and has been nothing but supportive and loving. She wished he wouldn’t change now that her memories were back.
The doctor soon arrived and after running a vital check on her, declared her okay. She prescribed some drugs that would help relieve the pain and advised she stayed away from strenuous activities. After the doctor left, Mrs Gold ran her a bath and after taking her bath, they exited the room to let her dress up.
She walked downstairs and breakfast was served. That implies she had been unconscious since the previous evening. Breakfast consisted of chicken noodle soup, fruit juice and varieties of fruits all prepared by Mrs Gold. Everyone was attentive to her needs at the dinning. They wanted to please her and give her anything she asked for, and it brought a warm feeling to her heart to be surrounded by people that loved her.
After dinner, she had her medication and retired to bed. She was asked to have enough rest so she could recover from the shock of the incident. In her room, she couldn’t sleep as her mind kept wandering and wondering who could be after her. Being kidnapped twice in less than a month was not a coincidence and can only mean one thing, someone was after her, and the person knows her.
And that was what scared her. Someone somewhere knows her, and probably her every move and would not stop until they got rid of her.
She was still in her thoughts when sleep took hold of her.
