RACHEL’S POV
“When will you be back?” She asked as Shawn broke the news of his trip to her that morning.
“I don’t know. A day or two.” He replied not looking up from his laptop.
“Can I go with you?” She blurted.
Shawn looked up at her in surprise. “Why would you follow me?”
“To accompany and help you.”
“No, thank you. That’s the work of my PA.”
“But I can be her substitute.”
“Can you hear yourself? Are you my personal assistant, Rachel?”
“No. But I can be one for this trip.”
“I’m sorry to say this, but you sound unintelligent and unrealistic.”
“I accept, but please let me go with you.”
“I have work to do, Rachel. Kindly return to your office.”
“Fine, I will leave. How about your fiance, are you leaving her by herself?”
Shawn momentarily went silent before replying, “No. She will be staying at her dad’s place.”
“Fair enough. I will see you later.” Rachel said and walked out of the office.
She got to her office and began pacing. She wanted to go with Shawn and be with him throughout the duration of the conference. As unrealistic and selfish as that sounds, that was all she wished for.
She took out her phone and dialed Max’s number.
“Hello.”
“He is traveling for a conference today. His fiance is at her father’s place. I want you to follow every of her move whenever she leaves the house.”
“Noted.”
“Good.” She said and ended the call.
Her next line of action is about to be put into motion, and this time around, she hopes it works.
The next few hours before closing time was uneventful as Shawn had left for the conference at noon and she had been feeling sad and lonely since then.
She left the office for home. It was a few minutes to 6 O’clock when Max’s call came in.
“She just stopped at a supermarket. I think she is there to shop.”
“Good. Send our guy to her and make sure he lures her there.” Rachel ordered and ended the call.
She laughed maniacally as she took out a bottle of alcoholic wine from the bar in her room and began to drink. She will make merry while waiting for the good news.
Around past 7, O’clock, her phone beeped, indicating the arrival of a message. She smiled broadly as she saw the content of the message. Exactly what she needed.
She quickly dialed Max’s number. “Good job. Expect a tip from me.”
“Alright.”
“Has she left? And I hope you were discreet with the whole operation?”
“She left a few minutes ago, and yes, I was discreet with everything.”
“That’s good to know. Expect your tip tomorrow.”
After the call ended, she turned on the television in her room and began playing music. She danced slowly to it while sipping her wine. She couldn’t wait for the outcome of the job.
Just then, she remembered she had to call Shawn. She reduced the volume of the music as she dialed his number. He picked on the second ring.
“For Christ sake, Rachel?”
“Hey, Shawny. I’m calling to check up on you. Did you arrive safely?”
“Yes, I did. Thank you for your concern.”
“What are you doing now? As for me, I’m here in my pretty night dress dancing to good music with a wine in my hand.” She said in a sultry tone.
“Good for you. Can we talk later? I have to sleep because the conference is starting as early as 7:00 Am tomorrow.”
“Oh, and I was thinking we could talk for a while.”
“I’m sorry, we can’t. Good night, Rachel.”
And the line went off.
“Good night, Shawny.”
TIFFANY’S POV
After school, Joshua, her family driver, had come to pick her up from school. She got home and her father was already waiting for her.
“My princess,” He said, engulfing her in a hug.
“Daddy. Good day.”
“Good day, princess. How was school?”
“School was okay. Did Shawn visit you today?”
“Oh, yes he did. He brought your bag. He said he was going for a conference and will be away for a day or two. He wanted you to stay with me until he gets back.”
“Okay. Dad, have you been following the doctor’s instructions?”
“Yes, I have, princess.”
“Are you sure, or do I ask the maid?”
“I am sure, and you can ask the maid.”
“Okay. I have to go upstairs and freshen up.”
“Okay. The maid is setting the table and food will be served by the time you get down.”
Tiffany nodded and ran upstairs. She got to her room and threw herself on the bed. Oh! how much she missed the feel of her bed and the smell of her room.
She stripped herself off her clothes, and got into the shower. After staying under the shower for an hour, watching the water cascade down her body, she got out and went back to her room to dress up.
She wore a baggy short and polo, and then slipped her deets into her crocs before heading downstairs.
She got to the dinning room and the aroma of the food hit her nose. From the aroma she could tell it was Tomato bisque and grilled cheese sandwich.
“This smells nice and I have no doubt that it will taste nice too.” Tiffany said and uncovered her plate.
“It sure does, princess. You should dig in.” Her father said between mouthfuls of food.
“Without further ado.”
The remaining minutes spent in the dining room were graced by heartfelt laughter and funny jokes. Tiffany and her dad threw their table etiquette to the wind and had a good time.
“Thank you for the meal. Your meal still tastes heavenly.” She said as the maid cleared the table after they had finished eating.
“You’re welcome, Ma. Thank you for the compliment.”
Tiffany nodded as she left the dinning to join her father in the sitting room.
“So what are your plans during your stay here?” Her father asked as she joined him.
“Nothing much, Dad. Go to school, get back and take care of you.”
“The maid is here to do that, Princess.”
“I know, but the little time I will be here, I want to take care of you. Please, let me, Dad.”
“Fine. You never give up, so arguing with you is pointless.”
“Thank you, Dad.”
Just then, the maid walked up to them. “Sir, I will be leaving for the supermarket to get some groceries.”
“Okay….” Her father made to say, but Tiffany cut him short. “Don’t worry, o will do the shopping.”
“No, ma. It’s my duty.”
“I know it is, but please let me.” She turned to her father. “Dad, please tell her to let me do the groceries shopping.”
“Fine. Please, hand the list over to her and the credit card. Tiff never backs down.” Her father said to the maid, and she did as he said.
“Hurray! I will go and Change into something nice. I will be right back.” And with that, she scurried upstairs.
She returned a few minutes later, dressed in an armless jumpsuit and Sandals. “Dad, how do I look?”
“You look good, princess. You always do. You have to leave now if you want to get back on time. It is getting late already.”
“Bye, Dad. I will get you something.” She said and left the house.
She got into her car and drove off, in the direction of the supermarket. She got there and spent some time shopping for groceries and other necessities.
After shopping, one of the baggers helped her carry her bags to the car trunk. She tipped him and he left.
She was about closing the car trunk when someone gently tapped her from behind and she jerked in fright.
“Hi, Tiffany.” Oscar said as she turned to look at him in fright.
“Jeez…Oscar? You startled me.”
“I know. I’m sorry.”
“Where have you been for Christ sake?!”
“At home recuperating.”
“You made me worried. At some point, I thought you were harmed.”
“I’m sorry, but I’m fine. I see you came to shop.”
“Yes, I did. How about you? What are you doing here?”
“I came to get some chocolate.”
“All the way from your neighborhood?”
“I was running errands around here so I decided to stop and get myself chocolates.”
“Oh, that’s fine. I see your wounds are healed. Remind me what happened to you again.”
“I got hit by a car…”
