Chapter 74

Book:Blind Date With Mr Arrogant Published:2025-3-31

RACHEL’S POV
She walked to her office, raging in anger. Was her first fear coming to pass? Was Shawn indeed falling for that little girl?
She paced to and fro in her office in anger and confusion. If Shawn fell for that girl, then it meant all her efforts were all in vain, and she can’t let that happen.
Shawn Gold was hers and hers alone!
DEREK’S POV
He slowly opened his left eye and quickly shut it. He tried the right eye and could only keep it open a little
“You are awake. Thank God.” He heard a voice say.
He winced as he tried to remember where he was.
“No, don’t stress about it. Don’t force yourself to remember anything.” The voice said again.
He tried to sit up on the bed but he felt a sharp paint tug at his head. That was when he felt the bandages around his head.
“Easy.” The voice said, helping him sit up properly.
“Who are you and where am I?” He asked, finally opening his eyes.
“My name is doctor Finland and you are in the hospital.” The person replied.
“Okay. Can you tell me what happened to me? I also need water.” Derek said.
“Water? Yes. What happened to you will be a tale for another day.” The doctor said and walked to get water from the fridge.
Derek finished the water in one gulp. “Can I please get another water?” He asked.
“Sure.” The doctor replied and got him another water.
“So, I’m going to raise my fingers and you would tell me how many you see.” The doctor said.
Derek recognized the number of fingers the Doctor raised up to his face.
“Now that you passed the test, can you tell me who you are? Your name, occupation and what you do.” The doctor asked.
“I don’t remember those.” Derek replied.
“I thought as much. I was just asking, though. A nurse would be sent to attend to you and give your drugs. Welcome back to the land of the living, Mr Derek.”
“Thank you. Derek? Is that my name?” Derek asked.
“Yes. That is your name.” The doctor replied.
“Si how come I don’t remember?” Derek asked Confused.
“Because you suffered an injury to your head. I will be leaving now, a nurse will be coming in soon. Please, give her your utmost cooperation.” The doctor said, before walking out.
Derek just stared after her in confusion and then back to the hospital room he was in.
MRS CAMPBELL’S POV
“This is good news. I will drop by the hospital to see him later today.” She said happily into the phone.
She dropped the phone after getting off the phone with the hospital Derek was in. They had called to inform her that he was out of comma.
She, like others, was scared that he wouldn’t make it out of the coma and even if he did, he would be in a comatose state. But she was glad when she was told he was fine, but of course without his memory.
She made a mental note to pay him a visit with some of the school staff. With that thought in mind, she went back to work.
TIFFANY’S POV
She sat at the usual spot and waited for Oscar to show up.
“Hey! I’m sorry I kept you waiting.” Oscar said and joined her.
“You do realize I should be at the cafeteria eating with my friends, right? Stick to the time and stop keeping me waiting.” Tiffany said, grudgingly.
“I apologize, Ma. It won’t happen again.” Oscar said.
“Better. Shall we start?” Tiffany asked and took out the lesson materials.
“Yes.” Oscar replied.
Before she knew it, one hour had elapsed. “And that’s all for today. Make sure you do your assignment.” Tiffany said and stood up.
“I will. Thank you for today.” Oscar said.
Tiffany gave him a low nod before walking away. She was hungry and she needed to apologize to her friends for her attitude the previous day.
“Hey, guys.” She greeted as she took her seat.
“Hey, Tiff” Timothy answered coldly while Freya Judy gave her a court nod.
“I don’t know where to start from, but I’m still going to start anyway. I am truly sorry for my outburst yesterday. It was totally uncalled for, please, forgive me.” Tiffany apologized.
“We are your friends and you know no matter what it is, we will always have your back. Even if you are wrong or right.” Timothy said.
“Timothy is right. We don’t need you going through anything alone. We want to be part of everything you go through.” Freya added.
“I understand, and I’m sorry. It won’t happen again.” Tiffany promised.
“It’s okay. We still love you regardless.” Freya said.
“Yeah. You are forgiven.” Timothy added.
“Thank you so much, guys.” Tiffany said happily.
They had lunch together, cracking jokes and laughing at the jokes. Recess was soon over and they walked back to class together.
Tiffany was about settling down for the next class when the principal’s voice sounded on the speaker. “Can all the students gather at the assembly hall right away?”
Murmurs rented the air of the classroom as students murmured in low tones as to what could be the cause of the principal’s sudden summon.
Regardless, students began to file out of the classroom, headed for the hall.
“Do you know what could be the reason for the principal’s summon?” Freya asked Tiffany as they walked to the hall together.
“I honestly do not know. I’m as surprised as everyone else.” Tiffany replied.
They soon got to the hall and took their seats. A few minutes later, Mrs Campbell arrived and climbed the elevated podium.
“It’s a good thing you all honoured my call. We have news to break to you all.” Mrs Campbell started.
Students started murmuring again and Mrs Campbell quickly hushed them. “Quiet!”
Tranquility was restored to the hall immediately.
“You all remember Mr Derek, the school technician?” Mrs Campbell asked.
Shouts of “Yes” filled the hall.
“You all knew what happened to him. Well, the good news is that he is out of coma.” Mrs Campbell announced.
Shouts of excitement filled the air and some students even clapped.
“But there is a problem. He suffered an organic amnesia as a result of the injury to his head. He doesn’t remember anything, not even his own name. So, as a school, I would be going with a staff or two and a few student delegates to pay him a visit with gifts and wish him a quick recovery.” Mrs Campbell said further.
“With that being said, we have chosen the following students. Freya Meyer, the students president. Tiffany Dion, the head of the student body committee, Mary Quevara, The head of the cheerleading team, and Aries, the head of the football team. These students will be our student delegates. So, prepare yourself while coming to school tomorrow. If you have gifts to give to him, come with them tomorrow. Is that okay?” Mrs Campbell asked.
“Yes!” The students responded.
“With an agreement reached, you can all return to your classes.” Mrs Campbell said, in a dismissing tone.
Students immediately began to troop out of the hall, murmuring in groups of twos and threes.
“I can’t believe this. Imagine not remembering anything. Not even one’s name.” Freya exclaimed.
“I have only read about it in crime books but never heard about it happening to someone in reality. Not to mention someone I know.” Timothy said.
“I know, right? Poor Mr Derek. I feel sorry for his family. The pain of not being recognized could kill them.” Tiffany said.
“I know, right? I just hope he recovers quickly.” Freya said.
“If what I read from books about organic amnesia are true, I don’t think he would be recovering soon. It might take months, years or even forever.” Timothy said.
“Oh, my God! That is terrible.” Tiffany exclaimed.
“It is. Okay, guys. I will see you both later.” Timothy said as they got to the point they would part ways.
Tiffany and Freya bid him goodbye as they continued on their way to their class.
