Chase’s POV
Days before my son’s birthday, there was an auspicious occasion I had to attend to. It was the 2nd full moon. It was a rare occasion and no one ignored it.
Also as the 2nd full moon of the year and all the packs were preparing to go on transitioning. All werewolves were warned to not exceed the boundaries of the werewolf kingdom. Anything beyond that line was seen as death. This was because, years ago a newly transitioning werewolf wandered down into the vampire side. He had his heart ripped out and he was dead within the twinkle of an eye.
The pack dwellings were arranged in a manner of strength. First it was my pack, the black moon pack, next was the east high pack , after that was the other 3 packs.
It has been said that the person who lived at the far end of the pack was as good as dead, because it was either they were the first to be killed when the pack was being attacked, or when a stray wolf being got into the werewolf kingdom. It was also in this outskirts that the rogues lived.
During the full moon, I normally transitioned and walked to the ends of my pack forest before going back. Today something different happened to me.
The moment I heard my beta Angus howling at the top of the mountain, I began to hear this strange feeling calling me out of my pack. In my pack, transitioning into a werewolf was easier and faster, with less pain.
Within a minute I was now a werewolf. I had black skin. It was as dark as the devil and I also had red eyes. It’s been said by my folks that when I am in my werewolf fork, I am unrecognizable and brutal. So after I had transitioned I got that feeling to go down to the boundary of the werewolf kingdom.
Across the boundary I could see 3 wolves gathered around something. I looked and found out that they were rogues. Wolf outlaws.
I stared longer, trying to be quiet. I couldn’t understand why they were gathered there nor did I Know who these rogues were. Suddenly I heard them laugh.
“What’s so funny?” I growled with my inner voice. They immediately turned to me. Surprised
“Mind your business” one of them snarled.
“I could if you could tell me what’s funny” I said to them.
“We are going to sell this unfortunate werewolf to the vampires. They need blood to make a hybrid” one of them which I assumed as the stupid one answered.
“Shut the fuck off Marcus!” the 3rd one warned.
“Do you want to take her place?” he threatened the stupid one. I snarled. Normally I mind my business but I felt I needed to help.
“Now we are going to play a little game called, give the girl back to me. You keep the girl here and you move away immediately” I said in the calmest voice I could muster as I tried to hold my cool.
“Oh look at that. He thinks that we are” he didn’t get to finish that statement when I swiftly broke his neck and shred him in two.
“So who is next?” I said to the two. They came charging at me. I took care of them like the 1st, though it took me quite longer. By the Time I was through, I was already bloodied up. I had a few bruises here and there, but I wasn’t the one lying on the ground dead. I picked up the girl, who had transitioned. She looked peaceful as she was.
I checked her pulse and found out that she was still alive. I carried her on my back and went to my pack. I couldn’t take her to the house because the pack would start asking questions. I mean what would Arya think?
I carried her to a house at the end of my pack. He was an old friend named Dean.
“Take good care of her okay?”
He nodded. ” definitely Chase, I will not tell a soul”
By morning, I went to check up on her. She would have gotten back to human form. Then I can start the necessary questions.
“Hey man, thank you for letting her stay here” I said to Dean. Mentally I had already picked him as my second beta. He was trustworthy.
“It’s alright Chase. What are friends for”? he replied. As soon as we got into the house, I got the shocker of my life. I couldn’t believe my eyes. Dean saw how I reacted and began asking questions.
“Do you know her?” he asked.
“Yes I think I do.” I said. “Do you remember that Time I was wounded and at the point of death?”
“Yea” he said.
“I remember slumping right in front of a doorstep.
It was in front of hers. She took me in and treated my wounds. I never knew that I would see her again.” I finished and I stared at the body that was sprawled on the bed. I also went ahead to tell him how I saw her in the hands of a bad rouges, that wanted to sell her off to a vampire. Now I understand why I got that feeling, to go to the werewolf boundaries.
Now I am very relieved I went and I listened to whatever voice was calling out to me. Guess it was her voice all along. As I stared at her, I couldn’t take my eyes off her lips. Despite what she might have been through, her lips were looking full. I had in mind to ask her if her lips were always like that or if they were swollen or something.
“Wow. I guess her good work has paid off for her” Dean said. I nodded. I stopped by her side and observed her body for bruises. There were few, so I called my pack doctor to help out. Paid him off to keep it a secret.
It was after she got checked that she began to stir up.
I helped her sit up and she asked for water, which I gave her.
“Where am I? She asked looking round the room.
“Hi,” I said from where I sat. That was when she turned to my direction. I saw her eyes grow wide upon recognition.
“Are you” she began but paused, as if suddenly unsure of herself. “You look like someone I “she stopped immediately regarding me. ” Oh never mind” she finished. I chuckled at her. She had a funny personality. I could tell by the way she flicked her eyes around.
Then I remembered Arya. It would be fun to see her jealous though.
