Valentina pov
I was about to puke.
I must have had a little too much because as I walked-no, wobbled-toward the restroom, the walls seemed to close in. I covered my mouth, struggling to stay on my feet and not collapse in a heap, but with every passing second, it got harder to hold it in.
I could feel the judgmental stares from everyone around me as I hurried along, but I couldn’t care less. God, I really should’ve stopped after three glasses. But could you blame me? Twenty minutes had passed, and neither Sebastian nor Daniel had returned. Sitting there alone with nothing to do had been so painfully boring that another drink-or five-felt like the only way to pass the time.
“P-please…” I gagged, clamping a hand over my mouth as I stopped a server along the way.
“Apologies, madam, but I’m not carrying champagne right now. However, I can-”
“Not that… the restroom, where is it?” I interrupted, my voice strained.
“Ooh, it’s this way, to the right,” the server replied.
As soon as the words left his mouth, I bolted in that direction. But just as I was about to push open the door to the female restroom, I froze in my tracks, my eyes widening at the sight of two people a man and a woman standing directly in my path, blocking the entrance.
I could see the woman’s angry face, but the man’s back was turned towards me. Before I could even blink, a loud slap rang through the air, and the man’s face whipped to the side so fast I thought his neck would snap.
“How dare you say that to me? I thought you loved me!” The woman yelled, her face turning bright red as she pointed an accusing finger at the man. “You want to break up with me? Do you even know who I am? I’m the most popular actress in the world, and you actually want to break up with me?”
I blinked in confusion, sobering up for a moment as I watched the scene unfold. My eyes flickered to the man, and despite not seeing his expression, I could immediately tell he wasn’t fazed by the slap. My suspicion was confirmed when he suddenly chuckled, his hand reaching up to touch his cheek.
“Wow, that was actually the most painful slap I’ve received so far. You really put some strength into it. Here I thought you were a weak girl who couldn’t even open the lid of a bottle. Tsk, I should’ve known it was all an act.”
His words and lack of reaction only seemed to annoy the woman more. Her gaze darkened, and she hissed out, “What the hell are you talking about, Julian? I asked you a question! Do you want to break up with me after just a week of dating?”
Julian or whatever his name was straightened, casually sliding his hands into his pockets, his posture completely indifferent. “You heard me. I want to break up with you. You should’ve known this was coming. I never do more than a week of dating.”
The corner of my lips curled into a sneer at his words. Ah, I see. Typical player.
The woman immediately burst into tears, her voice cracking. “But I thought you said you loved me! I love you, Julian, I really love you, and I can’t live without you!”
“Oh, drop the act, Ava.” Julian scoffed, his tone cutting. “You think I don’t know you’re sleeping with my older brother? You think I don’t know what you’re doing? Do you even realize that bastard has a wife? You’re nothing but a slut.” He spat, his words laced with venom.
I gasped, my eyes widening. She was sleeping with his brother?! Wait, no-what was I even doing? I needed to stop eavesdropping and go to the restroom. I shook my head, my body turning toward the restroom, my steps slow so as not to draw attention.
“Excuse me,” I muttered under my breath, “sorry to disturb you, please continue with what you’re doing,” as I walked past them without looking up.
“Julian…” Ava’s voice trembled. “It isn’t what it looks like-”
“Save it,” Julian interrupted, his voice cold and dismissive. “You weren’t the first, and you probably won’t be the last. And I have already found myself a new girlfriend.”
“A new girlfriend? Damn, I wonder who the unlucky woman is,” I muttered to myself.
Just as I thought that, Ava’s voice cut through the air, filled with rage. “A new girlfriend? Who!? Who is the bitch you’re seeing?” Her words echoed, and that’s when I felt it-a gaze sweeping over me, icy and intense.
Hmm, why did it feel like the devil had just set his eyes on me? A shiver ran down my spine, and I couldn’t shake the uneasy feeling that had settled in my gut.
And I was right. Before I could even react, my hand was suddenly gripped, yanked backward with a force that nearly knocked me off balance. My heart skipped a beat as I spun around to hit the chest of the person who had a hold on me, my mind racing as I tried to process what had just happened.
“She is my new girlfriend. The one I am currently dating. Say hello to her,” he said smoothly.
Wait! me? I was the new girlfriend?
I froze, his words ringing in my ears. Slowly, I raised my head to meet his gaze, and my breath caught in my throat.
Black hair, piercing green eyes, and a perfect smile. Everything about him was flawless to the last detail.
I couldn’t tear my eyes away from him, and I realized, too late, that I had been staring a little too long. He seemed to notice because his smirk widened. Leaning in, he closed the distance between us and whispered in my ear, his warm breath brushing against my skin.
“You’re staring a little too much. You can take a picture if you-” He froze mid-sentence, his words dying on his lips.
Why?
Because I had grabbed him by the shoulders and let it all out.
Yes, I puked on him.
