“Good boy, you listened to Aunt Martha today, didn’t you? I’m so proud of you,” I said with a soft smile, ruffling Felix’s hair gently.
He nodded twice in response, his toothy grin lighting up his face as he puffed out his chest and leaned into my touch like a little puppy seeking affection.
“You finished your broccoli too? All of it?” I asked softly again, recalling how, just yesterday, when Martha tried to feed him broccoli, he had bolted into my room, clinging to me like a lifeline and stubbornly refusing to eat even a single bite. Despite all the maids’ attempts to persuade him, Felix wouldn’t listen to anyone but me. So seeing him behave so obediently now felt like nothing short of a miracle.
But that wasn’t even the most surprising part about this kid. Just minutes ago, I had been caught off guard by the sight of a small army of maids chasing after him, their frantic cries of “Master Felix!” echoing through the halls as he ran to me. Meanwhile, Felix just darted ahead with pure mischief in his eyes, utterly oblivious to the commotion he was causing.
Felix nodded again as a response before wrapping his small arms around my waist, pulling me into a tight hug. I couldn’t help but smile to myself.
I was in a pretty good mood today. Alexander was finally coming back home, and I couldn’t wait to see him. For some reason, I had really missed him-and maybe, just maybe, it was because some part of me felt dependent on him.
Aside from Felix, he was the first person I saw after waking up with no memories. What I felt towards Alexander was almost like a bird instinctively recognizing its nest, clinging to the one thing that felt safe in an otherwise unfamiliar world.
“Are you seeing what I’m seeing, or am I hallucinating?” I heard someone whisper behind me, his voice dripping with raw surprise.
“So the rumors are true-Master Felix has changed. The little demon has really changed,” another replied, equally astonished.
I tilted my head slightly in confusion at their words.
“But then again, he did miss Madam Emily. He hadn’t spoken a word in a year after she disappeared. I’m just glad she’s back. The boss also hadn’t been the same after she left.”
Alexander hadn’t been the same after I left? I couldn’t remember anything, but Daniel had told me that I had traveled, and that when I was coming back home a few months ago, I’d been in a terrible car accident that caused me to lose my memories.
Hmm.
I pulled away from Felix and stared at him for a moment. Something I had noticed was that the boy didn’t speak much, but he was incredibly perceptive. If what they said was true-if my absence had truly left a mark on both Alexander and Felix-then I had to fix it. And what better way to do that than by becoming the mother and wife they both needed?
A good wife… I couldn’t help but chuckle at the thought.
“Madam, the boss has arrived,” Martha suddenly said, breaking me out of my thoughts.
My heart pounded heavily against my chest as I stood up and turned. My breath hitched when I saw him.
Alexander stood there, effortlessly commanding attention in a perfectly tailored Armani tuxedo. The suit hugged his frame like a second skin, sculpting his broad shoulders and lean physique in a way that spoke volumes. One look was enough to reveal the man’s obsessive attention to detail. Everything about him-his posture, his expression, his very presence-radiated two things: wealth and power.
He’s back.
“Welcome back home, dear husband,” I blurted out with a bright smile, my eyes twinkling as I opened my arms. Without a second thought, I ran toward him, and before anyone could react, I collided with his hard chest, which felt more like crashing into a brick wall. Damn, how much muscle was this man packing?
Hehe, there’s only one way to find out.
I closed my eyes and wrapped my arms around him, feeling the solid muscles beneath his suit, the firmness of his body pressing against me.
Sigh, it’s truly a blessing to have such a hot husband.
“I really missed you, Alexander,” I said with a genuine smile, my eyes sparkling with excitement as I looked up at him. But he stood still, his body tense from my touch, his eyes wide with disbelief as if he couldn’t quite grasp what I was doing.
I studied him for a moment in confusion, my head tilting slightly, before it hit me.
Ah! How could I forget? You’re such an idiot.
My cheeks flushed a deep shade of red, my embarrassment spreading quickly. Was he expecting a kiss? But… in front of all these people? Gosh, how shy I was.
I lightly tapped his chest, then licked my lips and smiled mischievously. His expression shifted, his eyes darkening with something unreadable.
“Get the fu-” He didn’t finish his sentence before I rose on my toes and pressed my lips to his, cutting him off completely.
Alexander’s eyes widened in shock as I wrapped my arms around his shoulders, my eyes fluttering shut as I melted into the kiss. His lips were soft against mine, sending a pleasurable shiver that spread all the way down my spine.
Audible gasps rippled through the air, and I could feel the weight of everyone’s gaze burning into my back.
“Oh my God,” I heard Sebastian mutter in disbelief. “Quick, cover the young master’s eyes!”
But everything else faded away as I lost myself in the kiss, the world narrowing down to just the two of us.
