Eve.
I groaned for the nth time today. Grandma Nini, Mom and Isaiah were trying to make me happy but I wore a frown on my face.
Jason had to go for an impromptu work problem and I couldn’t go with him because of my pregnancy.
I mean, the reason I want to go is because I don’t want to be away from him even if it’s just a second and yet he flew across the sea for some work problem leaving his pregnant wife at home?
What do you think about that?
Isn’t that annoying and irresponsible?
And I don’t even have anybody to rant to because Mom says I should be understanding while Grandma Nini is indifferent.
Isaiah on the other hand won’t stop talking about the celebrity he met at Max’s wedding.
I’ve always thought I didn’t have enough time to talk to Isaiah because of our crazy parents but now I just want him to shut up.
I’ve been calling Max for the past hour and he’s not picking up. As far as I’m concerned, I don’t think it’s night in Paris so I really have no idea why he’s not picking up.
Should I be worried?
“I’m hungry.” I mumbled quietly.
“I’ll get you a fruit salad.” Isaiah said disappearing to the kitchen before I could even tell him what I wanted to eat. What is with these people and leaving before I can say anything?
Like what the f?
He came back soon after with a bowl of fruit salad and I scoffed.
What do they think I am?
Some kind of food hoarder?
“Bring it here.”I said grumpily as I dragged the bowl from his hands and began to eat from the fruit salad.
It’s delicious so I’ll give him that.
Ring! Ring! Ring!
My phone rang beside me and I picked it up immediately without checking the caller ID.
“Hello.” I said with a mouthful of fruit salad.
“Hey girl!” Max’s annoying voice sounded over the line and I rolled my eyes in response.
“Were you having sex in the Louvre or what?” I snapped and Isaiah looked at me confusingly.
“Why didn’t you pick up?” I groaned looking away from Isaiah who was still confused by my behaviour.
Blame it on the pregnancy hormones.
“I was busy.” Max mumbled quietly.
“Busy with what?”
“Is Paris that fun?” I asked with a huff and he chuckled.
“Paris?” He asked and I scoffed.
“Yes Paris!” I huffed.
“We’re not in Paris.” He said and I frowned.
“You’re not in Paris?” I asked, confused by his sudden confession.
“Yeah, we’re not in Paris, we left ages ago.” He said and I sighed.
“If you’re not in Paris, then where are you?” I asked and he chuckled in response.
“Hawaii.” He said and I nodded even though he couldn’t see me.
“You’re surprisingly calm about that.” He said as if he was expecting me to scream.
“You can be anywhere, I really don’t care. But not Paris.” I said and he hissed.
“Do you like Paris that much?” He asked and I smiled.
“Who doesn’t like the city of lovers?”
“I’m surely going to go there and take a picture under the Eiffel tower.” I said and Max laughed.
“What’s special about it?” He asked and I rolled my eyes.
“That iron tower is a global icon of France, it was built on champ de mars beside seine river in 1889, it’s one of the most recognizable structures in the world.” I explained and Max hissed.
“So that’s why you like it? Because it’s some old history stuff?” Max scoffed and I hissed.
“I like it because it represents something good and most of all, a lot of sensible people appreciate art.” I huffed and Max giggled.
“Whatever!”
“Take history and give me the trending stuff.” He said and I giggled. Max surely knows how to make me laugh.
I looked at Isaiah who was now busy with his phone, I bet he’s probably texting that singer – Olive.
I thought they gave those celebrities a dating ban, I mean those underaged celebrities always have a dating ban in Korea, why can’t America adopt that culture?
I sighed deeply and continued my conversation with Max.
“Should we switch to video call?” Max suggested and I agreed.
We soon switched to video call and I giggled once I saw Max’s dishevelled hair.
“You look like a mess.” I said amidst my laughter.
“That’s what happens when your husband fucks you senseless.” Max said, laughing too.
“Husband.” I teased and he smiled.
“So is that all you’ve been doing?” I asked and he nodded.
“You’ve been in Hawaii for like how many days and you’ve been in your hotel suit doing nothing?” I asked and he nodded.
“What kind of honeymoon is that?” I huffed.
“A relaxing honeymoon.” Max giggled and I shook my head.
“So you’re not going to go about and see fireworks or go to an amusement park or Disneyland.” I said and Max laughed.
“Disneyland is for kids, Eve.”
“And besides there’s no Disneyland in Hawaii.” Max said and I sighed nodding my head.
“So you’re going to stay in the hotel all day long?” I asked and he shook his head.
“Ethan said he has a surprise for me so we’ll be going out tonight.” He said and I nodded.
“Lucky you.” I thought.
I’m here, pregnant and bored while my best friend is having fun in Hawaii. What a bummer!
“Babe, take a bath and open the windows, the room reeks!” I heard Ethan’s voice boom on the phone.
“It reeks of both of us, you know.” Max said and I laughed.
“Is that Eve?” I heard Ethan ask as he came into view.
“How are you doing?” Ethan asked and I scoffed playfully.
“How does it look like I’m doing?” I asked and he smiled.
“I meant the babies.” Ethan said and I raised my brows.
“You mean baby.” I corrected and he nodded laughing.
“Yeah, baby.” He corrected himself.
“The baby’s good.”
“You know what, I’ll leave you two to what you were doing.” I said getting ready to hang up.
“Oh, bring souvenirs.” I said to Max before hanging up.
“Okay, so are you ready to listen to what I have to say?” Isaiah asked the moment I hung up on Max.
“No.” I mumbled feeling cramp in the lower region of my stomach.
“Olive said…” Isaiah started talking ignoring the fact that I literally said I didn’t want to listen to what he had to say.
I tuned out what he was saying because of the pain I was feeling in my stomach.
“Ouch!” I winced in pain once the contractions were five minutes apart.
Isaiah noticed my discomfort and his eyes widened in realisation.
“The baby is coming?” He asked and I nodded as I scrunched up my face in pain.
“Mom!!!!”
“Grandma Nini!!”
“Jade!!”
“The baby is coming!” Isaiah screamed and it was almost deafening.
Jade? When did Jade get here?
