“W-who are you?” Mr Flynn stuttered.
“I’m Jason Coleman.” I said pulling out my business card and giving it to him.
“Jason tech?” He said reading the business card.
“That tech company in the news?” He said, making me nod.
“What do you want from me?” He asked.
“Nothing much.” I said chuckling.
Anyone watching would probably think I was here to strike some kind of deal especially with jade standing at my back like some kind of bodyguard but I already swore to change my ways. I can’t go back to doing bad things a few hours after I swore not to do them.
“I want to propose a collaboration with your company – Fmotors.” I said quietly.
“My company?” He laughed.
“You want me to work with a company that’s about to go under?” He laughed.
“It’s not going under, all that is a big misunderstanding which must have been cleared up by now.” I said.
“Cleared up?” He asked.
“Yes, it was just fake news, it was done by a malicious person who wants my company to crumble but one’s year of hardwork can’t just vanish like that, can it?” I questioned.
“Still, it doesn’t say why I should collaborate with you.” He said.
“Here.” I said putting my phone in front of him so he could read the headlines of the news that was reported a few minutes ago.
“Jason tech cleared of all misunderstanding.” He read.
I swiped to the second screenshot so he could see it.
“Suspect arrested for malicious comments and falsifying documents. MI mobility posts an apology to Jason tech.” He read and I took back my phone and kept it in my pocket.
“Now, should we get started?” I smirked.
“You see, I would have bought a proposal but I didn’t have time to come up with one so I’ll just tell you myself.” I said.
“Jason tech was founded by my father and he died early leaving me to take care of it. You see, I want Jason Tech to not just be one of the best companies out there but the very best, the number one company and I’m sure you want that too.” I explained and he nodded.
“We were in discussion with MI mobility to build an automatic car.” I said and paused waiting for a reaction from him but he scoffed instead.
“F-motors already have an automatic car.” He said, smirking.
“This isn’t just any automatic car. It’s a self-driving car, A car that drives you safely to wherever you are going to and you can even catch some sleep along the way”
“Isn’t that amazing?” I said chuckling. Just the thoughts of the idea excites me.
“A collaboration with Fmotors which has more experience in this line of work would be more effective than doing it ourselves, after all we’re just a tech company.”
“However, with Fmotors, we’ll be climbing up the ladder once it launches.” I explained but judging from his expression, he didn’t seem convinced.
“You see, the profit margin would be seventy to thirty percent, with Jason tech receiving seventy percent and Fmotors forty percent.”
“It’s more beneficial to you than you know it.” I said smiling.
“Sixty to forty.” He said, making me raise my brows.
“You get sixty, I get forty.” He said and I knew the idea was sold.
“Deal?” He said, extending his hands.
“Deal.” I said as I shook them.
I got up from the chair to leave but..
“Wait!” He stopped me.
“You won’t tell anyone about what you saw today, will you?” He asked.
“Not at all.” I said smiling as I turned to face him.
“That’s your privacy.” I said walking away.
His lover returned as we were leaving and I heard him ask Mr Flynn who we were.
“Just a friend saying hi, that’s all.” I heard Mr Flynn say.
“Will he tell anyone about us?” The lover seemed agitated.
“Not at all, he’s trustworthy.” Mr Flynn said, making me feel good.
“He’s trustworthy.” The word made me feel confident.
I didn’t use someone’s weakness against them. That’s a start.
“We could have threatened him to agree with this picture.” I heard Jade groan the moment we were out of the dinning area and in the lobby.
“That would be pathetic.” I laughed.
“You were cool, Jason.” Jade said smiling and I felt my head swell. It felt amazing to receive a genuine compliment. I think I’m going to keep this new secretary for a long time, he knows how to suck up to someone. Haha.
“Today is really a great day, isn’t it?” I said happily.
“It is.” Jade said and continued blabbing away.
“I got promoted.”
“Now, I work directly for the owner of the company, isn’t that amazing?” He kept blabbing away.
I couldn’t help but smile as we took the elevator to our rooms.
Tomorrow will be a great day.
Hopefully.
Just hopefully.
When I get home tomorrow, I will be a new man.
I’ll finally have a full home.
And slowly, I’ll begin to build up what I had lost.
I’ll go to an amusement park with Eve, we’ll go to the aquarium, we’ll go fishing..
No, she doesn’t like fish so we can’t go to the aquarium or fishing.
Anyways, we’ll visit everywhere together holding hands and giggling at silly jokes and remarks that we make about people passing by.
We’ll be just fine.
We’ll be happy together.
I know it, I can feel it.
What about Alice?
All I have to do now, is to end things with Alice. After all, what we had together is simply sex with no strings attached.
Once I do that, I’ll be with my family, my loved ones.
And maybe someday, in the near future, I’ll have a child too.

But sometimes, hope can be a cruel thing.
Hope keeps us believing but when that hope is shattered, we have nowhere to turn.
Little did I know that, this was just the calm before the storm.
