Chapter 30

Book:The Virgin Wife Published:2025-3-31

Eve..
The day of the party soon came and I couldn’t help but feel nervous.
The doctor came earlier today and helped me remove the cast. Although it still hurts a teeny tiny bit but that’s because I didn’t treat it in the first place.
Regardless, the cast was removed and I could move around in a small bandage which wouldn’t be obvious when I put on my heels and gown.
I didn’t even know I had those. Was I expected to pick clothes from my wardrobe?
I didn’t know one thing about going to parties because I’ve never actually been to one as important as this.
I was pacing around my room when I heard a knock on my door and I quickly went to open it. I wasn’t surprised to see Jason because it was his house so it was a bit stupid to be surprised to see him standing at my door all the time. I really had to get used to seeing him at my door with this cold expression on his face.
“Here.” He threw a big box at me and I almost fell from the impact. Rude!
“Wear those and behave.” He said turning and leaving my door.
My eyes stayed fixated on him until he entered his room and slammed the door.
I sighed deeply at his behaviour. I’m starting to conclude that he is indeed bipolar and needs to go for therapy or something.
I closed the door to my room and carried the box inside. It wasn’t that big after all, I wasn’t just able to catch it because he didn’t give it to me, he threw it at me.
I opened the box and I saw a cream coloured velvet gown that was long enough to reach my feet and cover my bandage and it hung up to every of my curves when I wore it. I quickly removed it because the party wasn’t until evening and I didn’t want to stain it or anything to go wrong. Today was an important day for Jason and I wasn’t going to ruin it.
I heard another knock on my door and I grudgingly went to open it. I thought it was Jason again but it turned out to be someone I could never imagine would actually be here.
“I know I’m handsome but you don’t have to stare with your mouth open.” Max said, pushing his way through and entering my room.
“What are you doing here?” I asked confused as I closed the door and went to sit just beside Max on my bed.
“What kind of dumb question is that?”
“You asked me to attend the party, didn’t you?” He looked at me like I just asked him the dumbest question.
“But it’s not time yet.” I said and he chuckled.
“I came to help you get ready.” Max said and I rolled my eyes.
“I can get ready by myself.” I countered.
“Yeah, you’ll put on your clothes and go there looking plain.” Max laughed and I almost punched his face in annoyance.
“That’s not true.” I huffed.
“It’s true and you know it.” He nudged me but my annoyance quickly went down as soon as it came and I smiled because he was right after all.
“You’re the star of today so you have to look exceptionally well.” Max said dramatically.
“I’m not the star, Jason’s the star.” I corrected him but he started laughing again.
“I’m not lying.” I said and just rolled his eyes playfully.
“You’re the star of the day.” He repeats.
“See Eve, they’ve all seen Jason countless times, not you. I’m sure they want to see you again especially after the things you said you told them at the board meeting you first attended.” Max reminded me of my pretence at Jason’s company the other day.
I stayed quiet for a moment contemplating what Max just said. It sounded very much true and believable but I couldn’t believe him because if I did, it would only make me more nervous than I already am.
“So should we start?” Max asked and I raised my brows.
“Start the makeover?” Max tilted his head and I moved closer and gave him a knock on his head.
“It’s still early, the party starts by six PM, it’s just eleven am, we’re still very early.” I said and Max nodded in acceptance.
“Anyways, enough about me, what about you?”
“Where is Ethan?” I asked and Max hisses and looks away.
“Did you two fight?” I asked and he still doesn’t look at me.
“Max..” I called but he ignored me. And I did what could only be done.
I started tickling him because that always gets him to talk. Soon, we were both laughing silly and trying to catch our breaths only to continue laughing again. It wasn’t until tears were both running down our faces that we stopped.
“Don’t think I forgot, what’s with you and Ethan?”
“You just ended a fight so don’t you think it’s too early for another argument?” I asked, pointing out their last quarrel I helped them settle before.
“Oh shut up and don’t be silly.”
“We’re not arguing or anything.” Max groaned and I looked at him with a stare that meant that he should continue.
“It’s a bit intimate so don’t ask me to stop when I start.” He said and looked at me waiting for a go ahead.
It wasn’t the first time I heard Max rant about his boyfriend and I thought this would be just the same but I didn’t expect it to be this different.
“Well, we were talking about sex.” He began.
“You mean those dirty kinds of things you say to turn someone on?” I asked as I felt my face feel hot.
“Yes.” Max smiled sheepishly.
“I actually started it.” He smiled.
“I said I wanted to have sex with him.” He said and my eyes widened.
“I didn’t say it directly like that.” He understood what my wide eyes meant.
“I said it stylishly.” Max giggled at the thought of what he said.
“How?” I asked genuinely curious despite the fact that it was weird that two opposite sex were having this kind of conversation.
“Well, he has been wanting to impress me with his cooking skills he learnt from a YouTube vlog so I went to wrap my hands around his waist and moved it to his p region.” Max said and covered his face with his palm feeling embarrassed. It was totally embarrassing for the listener too because I certainly didn’t want to imagine him touching Ethan’s p region to seduce him but Max continued his explanation nevertheless.
“So I palmed him and..” Max was saying when I interrupted to ask a question.
“What’s palm?” I asked genuinely confused.
“Just listen, don’t ask me questions.” Max said with his hands down now but hiding his blush since he looked away.
“How will I understand if I don’t know what the term means?” I asked and he groaned.
“I touched him, Eve, I rubbed his clothed member.” Max said a little louder than expected and we both flushed in embarrassment again.
“You didn’t have to yell.” I said quietly.
“You made me.” Max said, still looking away.
“Enough details, just get to the point.” I said wanting him to skip the whole part and get straight to the point before we make everything more embarrassing.
“Anyways, I turned him on and told him to take me but he said I wasn’t ready and he didn’t want to indulge me.” Max huffed at the reminder of what happened.
“So instead of just telling me you turned him on and he didn’t have sex with you, you chose that whole embarrassing epistle to tell?” I ignored the issue.
“Sorry.” He smiled apologetically and I laughed.
“Just teasing you.” I said and he smiled too.
“But isn’t he being a gentle man?” I was confused as to why Max was pissed.
“Well, I thought he was but I think he doesn’t find me attractive enough.” Max said sadly.
“What do you mean?” I was concerned.
“After that whole – I don’t want to indulge you rubbish.” Max mimicked Ethan’s words.
“He goes to the bathroom to help himself out but when he returns I was well dressed to show him I was ready.” Max said, smiling sheepishly again.
“Dressed for the ball?” I asked not catching on.
“So naive!” He mocked me.
“Not for the ball, for sex silly.” He said and I nodded, smiling.
“I had to seduce him so he would know I was ready but that didn’t work either.” Max huffed and I frowned.
“So what did you do?” I asked.
“I got dressed and came here to meet you. I left him a sticky note on the fridge to meet me at the party.” Max said proudly and I smacked him.
“Ouch!” He groaned.
“That’s a rude thing to do, why didn’t you just talk things out?” I asked.
“I don’t want to talk, I just want him deep inside of me so I’m a moaning mess.” Max said loudly and I closed my ears like I didn’t just hear what he said. How can someone not be embarrassed by such words?
“Maybe you should tell him then.” I said and he rolled his eyes.
“Enough about me, let’s talk about a different thing, how’s things with you and Jason? All those tips that Jada taught you, I trust you’re using them well.” Max asked and looked at me expectantly.
“Nope, they’re not working.” I said and he smacked me.
“Ouch!” I said.
“That’s for earlier.” He laughed but soon looked at me with a stern look.
“You’re doing them wrong, buckle up sister. You have to get your man.” Max said and I blushed. My man.
“It’s either you’re doing it wrong or he’s gay. Maybe I should seduce him.” Max joked and we both laughed.
“But seriously eve, try to work things out with him.” Max urged me.
“Well, our lips touched.” I mumbled quietly blushing at the reminder.
“You kissed?” Max squealed and I had to cover his mouth so he wouldn’t scream.
“No.. we didn’t, well it wasn’t a direct kiss anyways.” I said bashfully.
“So how did it happen?” Max asked and I smiled.
“He gave me his cup to drink from when I was choking.” I explained the details and Max bursted out in laughter.
“You’re delusional.”
“You need help.” He says in between laughs.
Hahahaha..
“Eve, that’s common sense. You could have died, if he didn’t give you his cup.” Max said and I frowned.
“It was still a kiss.” I deadpanned.
“Yeah, yeah, whatever helps you sleep at night.” Max said and snorted.
We talked about other stuff until it was almost six pm. Max did a makeover for me and made me look pretty.
When I put on my long creamed colour velvet gown, he said I looked like a fallen angel and I knew he was just teasing me but I played along anyways. I loved compliments so it wasn’t all that bad.
Max changed into his clothes in my bathroom and we both went downstairs to see everyone waiting for us.
“What took you so…” Mia was saying but when she saw me, she gasped.
“Is anything wrong?” I was scared.
“No, not at all, you just look extremely gorgeous.” Mia said and I blushed.
“You look stunning as well.” I said and smiled at her.
“Thanks.” She said, smiling back.
“Is no one going to compliment me?” Max joked and we all laughed.
Grandma Nini also gasped when she saw me and showered me with compliments as well. I was feeling quite confident until Jason struck my self esteem with his own final blow.
“Enough with the compliments. If you put makeup on pigs, they’ll look just the same.” Jason said when he entered the living room where we all were and my face fell. Max was about to counter him but I held him tight asking him to shut up. I knew Jason would send him out rather harshly should he insult him and I didn’t want that because that meant that I would be alone in the midst of all those unknown people.
We all stood in silence. Max fuming on my behalf, Mia still ignoring Jason and his rude attitude she claimed she didn’t know when he learnt it from and grandma Nini minding her own business.
“Well, are you all just gonna stand there? Let’s go, the host can’t be late now, can they?” Jason said walking out of the living room leaving us to stand them in complete silence. We soon jolted out of reverie at the sound of the car honk and we all scurried outside in case Jason returns and says something worse.
When exactly does his arrogance and cruelty end towards me?
