Alice’s POV.
I walked into the club where I was supposed to meet up with my other friends. I saw them sitting at a round table and then Stella saw me and she screamed my name while waving her hands.
“Can’t you try to act like a cultured person?” I said as I sat down beside them.
“Well, sorry for being uncultured.” Stella smiled but her smile soon faltered as she saw that I was not smiling back.
“What’s the problem?”
“Why do you look like they stole something from you?” Stella asked in concern.
“Can’t you tell? She’s still not over Jason and he’s married now.” Rose, another friend of mine, said laughing mockingly.
“She’s not his wife.” I snapped.
“Of course she is, they did a small wedding and even signed in court.” Puhle, another friend of mine said.
“Get over this guy Alice, he doesn’t even consider you wife material, if she is really a wife on paper then he could have given it to you since you guys are intimate but he didn’t think you were worthy.” Puhle advised.
“Worthy?” Rose laughed.
“You say it like we’re in the nineteenth century where he’s a prince and women have to be worthy to marry him.” Stella laughed.
“Shutup!” I snapped.
“Someone’s pained.” Rose joked and I glared at her.
“Sorry okay, but it’s best you let go of this guy, it’s been years and you’ve not been upgraded to girlfriend yet and then this new girl comes from nowhere and takes your chance away.” Rose said.
“Do you think if the new girl wasn’t in the picture, he would pick Alice?” Stella asked and the rest just smiled but I had another thought in my head.
“I could simply remove this Eve from the picture and I’ll be the one to get married to Jason.” I thought and smiled.
“Enough about me, let’s party until we drop.” I said, smiling at my smart brain.
“Whatever you say.” The girl giggled and started talking about other things while they drank.
I sipped on my drink as I thought of ways to remove Eve from the picture.
She was not a threat to me now but a bent knife can stab when sharpened so I have to remove her from the story now.
But I just have to scare her a little. Maybe if I scare her a little, she’ll pack her bags and leave.
I love my idea.
But how do I scare her?
What about a warning?
What if I send some thugs to tell her to stay away from Jason?
Would that be dangerous? Nope, I don’t think so. It’ll just be a little scary and I know just the right person.
“Alice, what are you thinking about? I’ve been talking to you since.” Puhle said, tapping me.
“Nothing, nothing at all.” I said getting up.
“What?” Stella and Rose asked as I stood up.
“I have to go.” I replied.
“Go where?, To the bathroom, it’s on that..”
“No, I have to go home.” I said, interrupting puhle.
“Why?, I thought you said you were free today? That’s why we picked today.” Rose frowned.
“Sorry guys, some other time.” I said turning and leaving them despite being called back.
I took out my phone and dialled someone’s number.
“Hello.” His gruff voice sounded on the phone.
“It’s Alice, do you still threaten people?” I asked hurriedly.
“It depends on how much you’re willing to pay.” He said.
“Let’s meet up and discuss this.” I said.
“I’m busy.” He said.
“I’ll pay you handsomely.” I said impatiently.
“We’re talking how many thousands of dollars?” He asked and I could tell he was smiling from the other side.
“A hundred?” I asked.
“Make it two hundred.” He said and I paused. Two hundred thousand dollars was a lot of money but for Jason, I was going to do this. Besides, when I become his wife, I wouldn’t have to worry about money.
“Okay, fine, I’ll wire you a hundred thousand dollars now and the rest after the job is complete, let’s meet up.” I said.
“I’ll send you an address, meet me there.” He said hanging up.
“So rude!” I hissed as he hung up on me.
I waited for a short while and then I received a location on my phone.
I flagged down a cab and told him where I was going and he nodded and started driving.
It was pretty late so I couldn’t really tell where we were going but I was sure it was on the outskirts of the city seeing as the lights were fading behind us. I soon fell asleep and it was the driver who tapped me when we got there.
“That’s the place, Miss.” He said pointing at an uncompleted building just opposite where we were parked.
“This place is not a place for a young lady like you.” The driver said and I rolled my eyes.
“Take your money and go” I said, giving him the fare and getting off the cab. I walked towards the uncompleted building feeling uncomfortable.
As soon as I entered, I could smell a faint smell of cigarettes and alcohol in the premises and judging from the dim lights, it seemed to look more like an abandoned warehouse than an uncompleted building now that I got closer.
“Hello..”
“Is anyone here?” I said but my voice echoed back making me scared but I didn’t back down and continued walking inside the building.
It wasn’t until I had gotten far enough from the large entrance that I saw a faint light in the centre with a group of buff men seated around the light.
As I got closer, I could tell it was some sort of campfire to keep them warm.
“This is no place for a young girl.” Someone said making shivers run down my spine.
“I’m here to see he who must not be named.” I said, cringing my words. This person must have been a crazy fan of Voldemort since he’s using that phrase. I wonder who fantasises about being like villains in a movie.
“Snart, take her to see the big boss.” The person whose face I couldn’t really recognise due to the dim light said.
Snart, who was asked to escort me to meet the big boss, seemed to be like the newest member or maybe like an errand boy since he looked like he was around my age or a bit older.
“Don’t look at me.” He said coldly as he noticed I was staring.
I nodded and looked down as I followed behind him.
He took me to an office and opened the door pushing me in and closing it from the outside.
I was scared but to achieve great things, you must take a risk so I wasn’t going to let these buffalos think I was scared of them or see my fears.
“Sit.” A voice said and I looked around but I couldn’t find anybody in the room.
Not only wasn’t he using Voldemort’s name, he was invincible too? This man must be kidding me.
“I can’t see.” I huffed.
“Right.” He mumbled and switched on the lights.
There he sat in a swivel chair wearing all black and a black face cap that covered his face.
I could see the scar that I guessed ran down his cheeks. He looked huge despite the fact that he was seated and his voice was even more gruff that it was on the phone.
“Aren’t you going to sit?” He snapped and I remembered that I was still on my feet. I did as I was told and sat down on the chair just opposite him.
“I assume you would be an older woman whose husband cheated on her and she wants to teach the Mistress a lesson or a Mistress who wants to overthrow the wife. Which one of them are you?” He asked, throwing me off guard.
“What about a side chick who wants to be the wife?” I scoffed.
“You’re feisty.” He smirked.
“Well, I get that alot.” I sassed.
“So what do you want me to do for you?” He asked.
“I’m assuming you want her head.” He tilted his head.
“Her head?” I was confused.
“Or is it her heart you want?” He asked with a smug smile and I understood what he meant.
“I don’t want her dead.” I said immediately.
“I just want to scare her a bit.” I said and to my disbelief he bursted into laughter.
He laughed for a while and when he realised I wasn’t finding it funny like he was , he stopped and looked at me with a puzzled look on his ugly face.
“You are serious.” He said coldly.
“You’re paying two hundred thousand dollars to scare someone?” He asked in confusion.
“Yes, he doesn’t love her, he’s with her for some reasons so I want to scare her so when those reasons are no more, she won’t create her own reasons to stay.” I said confidently.
“So you want to scare her off.” He repeated what I had said in simpler terms.
“Yes, exactly.” I said and he shook his head in disbelief.
“Don’t hurt her, just scare her.” I repeated.
“Whatever you say, you’re the client after all.”. He said smiling now.
“Her picture and where she stays.” He said and I sent him a picture of Eve. I got off the internet and I remember Jason saying they stayed in a hotel suite so I gave them the address too.
“Thankyou.” I said getting up.
“Don’t thank me, I’m just doing my job.” He said.
“By the way, Miss, what level of scare do you want?” He asked.
“Does it have levels?” I was confused.
“Yes, it does.” He said smugly.
“One, a simple warning by sending her pictures with ‘ you’re out’ on it.
Two, a warning to her families.
Three, a few beats and a word of advice.
Four, a staged accident which won’t lead to her death.” He smiled.
“One will do, I don’t want her to get hurt.” I said and he nodded.
“I’ll send you the rest of the money when you finish the job as promised.” I said leaving before he could say something else.
The smart guy was still standing at the door and he escorted me to the entrance.
“You won’t see any cars for a while so I called you a cab.” He said, surprising me.
“Why?” I was confused. Was he perhaps hitting on me?
“I’m doing my job, big boss asked me to, he said you paid a huge amount for a warning.” He smirked and I was beginning to find this annoying.
I don’t know how this shit works and it’s not like I can do it myself so what’s the mocking tone for.
I scoffed and ignored him.
The cab he called for me soon arrived and I got in. The driver did a U-turn and we drove back to the city.
I asked the driver to stop at a convenience store a few blocks from my house. I paid him, got out and entered the convenience store to get some drinks.
Since I missed the night out with the girls, I might as well party it up on my own.
I walked down to my house and was surprised to see my door opened. I entered inside and brought out one of the bottles of drink I had bought from the convenience store. If it is a burglar, I’ll break this on his or her head. I walked inside my house slowly ready to attack but I saw the silhouette of a man and then he turned to face me and it turned out to be someone I knew and not a burglar.
Someone familiar. Someone I wasn’t expecting to see in my house.
“What are you doing here?” I was confused.
“I thought you would be glad to see me but I guess I was wrong.” He said smiling but I could tell he was drunk.
He wasn’t the type to get drunk so what was the occasion and why was he here?
