Darnell was on the verge of losing control. The temptation was too strong. He hurriedly shouted, “Let go, let go.”
“You heartless scoundrel.”
Abbigail held onto Darnell tightly and pouted, “I left you my number, yet you never called.”
“You didn’t even send a message after I left that morning. Aren’t you worried I might have been robbed or worse?”
“I’m so beautiful. What if something happens to me?”
She poked Darnell’s forehead with her finger. “If something did happen, would you be able to face it?”
Sweat began to bead on Darnell’s forehead. “My phone was dead.”
“Stop making excuses.”
Abbigail pouted her alluring lips and teased, “I don’t care. Since I’ve run into you, I’m not letting go easily.”
Darnell felt exhausted.
Seeing Darnell being tightly held by Abbigail, Areli was filled with anger. This fool! Why provoke Abbigail, of all people?
At this moment, Abbigail noticed Areli’s gaze and turned with a charming smile. “Areli, good evening. It’s been a while. You’ve become even more beautiful.”
“But why are you still so cold?”
“I remember telling you before that women should be tender and charming. That’s how men like them and how they live well.”
“But look at you. Although you’re beautiful, you always keep people at bay. That’s not good. Men don’t dare to approach you.”
She continued to tease Darnell with a laugh, “Handsome, don’t you agree?”
Areli responded bluntly, “I don’t want to argue with you. I haven’t even settled accounts with you for what happened back then.”
Darnell was slightly surprised. From this conversation, he learned there was a grudge between them.
Abbigail spoke softly, “Ah, after all these years, you’re still hung up on that young man? I was just teasing him a bit. He came on to me himself.”
“I let you see his true colors so that you wouldn’t waste any more time on such a bastard.”
Abbigail smiled at Areli, “Actually, you should thank me.”
Areli replied with a light tease, “I’ve always thanked you. Otherwise, I wouldn’t tolerate you for so long.”
“Ah well, our relationship probably can’t be repaired. Let’s leave it to fate. Come on, handsome. Come with me.”
At this moment, the auction was about to start. Abbigail pulled Darnell towards the front seats where staff had already arranged places.
Several prime spots had names written on them, including one with Abbigail’s name.
As they moved forward, Abbigail held onto Darnell’s arm to prevent him from slipping away from her grasp and spoke with some resentment, “Why do you always resist me? Have you been enchanted by other women? Otherwise, why would you reject me?”
“Tell me which vixen has seduced you?”
She glanced at Areli as she spoke, “I’ll drag her out and give her thirty lashes.”
Areli originally wanted to distance herself from them to avoid getting so worked up, but seeing Abbigail’s look made her bristle with cold fury.
What does this woman mean? Was she calling her the other woman?
Areli was filled with indignation. She was Darnell’s superior and had been involved with him-regarded by many as his woman.
How dare this woman flirt with her man right in front of her?!
Back in their school days, Areli had tolerated Abbigail’s reckless behaviors, yet she still acted all high and mighty with her!
“Darnell, where are you going?”
Areli’s seat was originally beside Abbigail’s, but in anger, she moved her sign to the row behind so as not to sit next to Abbigail while calling out firmly to Darnell, “You came tonight for work-not for flirting or fooling around. Did you hear that?”
“And I’ve told you countless times not to associate with dubious people, yet you never listen.”
Areli glared at Abbigail and hissed through her gritted teeth, “Those people will lead you astray. Come sit over here immediately.”
Darnell stumbled slightly and nearly fell while quickly responding, “Okay, okay, I’ll come right over.”
“Darnell you’re mine. You can only sit with me,” said Abbigail.
Abbigail was seemingly intent on infuriating Areli, so she kept holding Darnell’s hand and raised her eyebrows with a smile, saying,
“Miss Fanshaw, aren’t you usually so dignified? Why are you fighting with me over a man tonight? Besides, what gives you the right to compete with me?”
“Your boobs? Your face? Or your skills in bed?”
“Why should I compare myself to you? I’m his legitimate girlfriend.”
While Darnell was secretly lamenting, Areli laughed coldly, “Ask Darnell or anyone else if he’s my boyfriend.”
“It’s you who steals my man.”
Before Abbigail could respond, Darnell’s body swayed. “Oh, I feel dizzy. I must be drunk, oh, oh no…”
Abbigail pinched Darnell. “Darnell, tell Areli you like me.”
Darnell coughed. “I don’t.”
“That’s so fake.”
Abbigail made a shocking statement. “When you were taking off my clothes that night, you said you’d love me forever.”
She gently leaned against Darnell. “By the way, did my panties dry? Did they feel nice? After I left, you secretly touched them many times, didn’t you?”
Areli looked furious, staring at Darnell, about to question what was going on, but something occurred to her, and her demeanor suddenly changed.
“Darnell, didn’t you say you liked my panda panties the most? Why did you touch another woman’s dirty underwear?”
Darnell, feeling frustrated, collapsed into a chair with a thud. He couldn’t take it anymore, couldn’t take it…
Just as Abbigail’s expression changed and she grabbed her chair to sit next to Darnell, Darnell’s ear suddenly twitched.
He heard a low-frequency whistle.
“Whoosh!”
As he looked up, he suddenly saw a black shadow, unexpectedly darting up from under Abbigail’s chair.
It was like an arrow, but its speed was far faster and more urgent, even faster than lightning in the sky.
The black shadow flashed, and suddenly it was at Abbigail’s throat.
“Swish!”
At that instant, Darnell reached out, pinching something between two fingers.
Something slippery, cold, and sticky-a black poisonous snake the size of a chopstick-had already touched Abbigail’s neck.
But it could no longer move, as if it had lost consciousness. Darnell’s fingers had precisely pinched its vital spot.
Had his hand been slightly slower, had the place he pinched been slightly off, or had the strength of his pinch been slightly weaker, Abbigail would already be dead.
Abbigail looked at the poisonous snake in Darnell’s hand, her entire body turning cold and her smile becoming rigid.
She was hanging by a thread.
