Kamrynn’s POV
The day had finally arrived. The day I would become Calvin’s mate and the Luna of the Obsidian Pack. The excitement and nervous energy buzzed under my skin as Amara helped me into my dress, her gentle hands smoothing down the delicate fabric as she adjusted it on my frame.
“You’re going to steal the spotlight, Kamrynn,” Amara teased with a grin, stepping back to admire her work.
I glanced at my reflection in the mirror and felt my breath catch in my throat. The dress was stunning-a pristine white gown that hugged my figure perfectly, flowing down in soft, elegant waves. Amara had kept my makeup light, just enough to enhance my features, and the way my sky-blue eyes stood out against the subtle shimmer made me feel… beautiful.
“Wow,” I whispered, still in awe.
“You look like an angel,” Amara said, beaming with pride. “Calvin’s not going to know what hit him.”
Across the room, Marlana sat with the twins in her lap. Arabella was dressed in a frilly lavender dress, while Astor wore a little suit that made him look like a miniature version of his father. They were both so adorable it almost hurt to look at them.
“They’re perfect,” I said, smiling at my children.
“They take after their mother,” Marlana said warmly, bouncing Arabella gently on her knee.
Amara moved behind me and began styling my hair, her fingers quick and efficient as she worked the strands into soft curls. She topped it off with a delicate tiara, the silver glinting in the light as she positioned it carefully on my head.
“There,” she said, stepping back with a satisfied nod. “Now you’re ready.”
I turned to her, feeling a surge of emotion well up inside me. “Do you think Calvin’s ready?” I asked, unable to keep the eagerness out of my voice.
Amara gave me a knowing smile. “Franklin told me that Calvin barely slept last night. He’s been asking to see you all morning.”
I raised my eyebrows in surprise. “Really?”
She laughed. “Really. He’s been pacing around like a caged wolf, begging Franklin to let him sneak a peek at you, even for a second. But Franklin wouldn’t let him. You know, tradition and all.”
I couldn’t help but smile at that. I knew exactly how he felt. We’d spent the night apart, not just because of all the last-minute preparations, but because it was tradition for the couple not to see each other the day before the mating ceremony. It had only been one day, but it felt like forever.
“I’m eager to see him too,” I admitted softly.
Amara’s grin widened. “Well, you won’t have to wait much longer. You’re all done.”
I turned back to the mirror, and the sight of my reflection almost brought me to tears. I looked… radiant. Like a bride. Like a Luna.
I never thought this day would come, I thought, my eyes misting over. All those nights spent locked in that cold, dark cell… all those times I was chained to Calvin’s bed, tormented by him… it all felt like a distant memory now. I had survived. I had come so far. And today, I was finally going to be happy.
“Don’t cry!” Amara warned, her voice playful but firm. “You’ll ruin your makeup.”
I blinked quickly, trying to hold back the tears.
Marlana smiled at me from her spot by the window, her eyes shining with pride. “You look beautiful, Kamrynn. Absolutely perfect. You’re exactly what this Pack needs. You’re going to be an amazing Luna. You’ll bring peace, joy, and prosperity to our people.”
Her words touched something deep inside me, and I turned to face her fully. “Thank you… Mother,” I said softly. It was the first time I had ever addressed her as that but the word slipped out of my mouth naturally, it felt right.
Marlana’s eyes widened, and then they filled with tears. She handed the twins to Amara and crossed the room to pull me into a warm, motherly hug.
“May you live a happy and beautiful life, my dear,” she whispered, her voice clouded with emotion. “You deserve it.”
I hugged her back, feeling a lump rise in my throat.
When we finally pulled apart, I turned to my children and kissed each of them on their soft, chubby cheeks. “Mummy and Daddy are finally going to be together,” I told them, my voice filled with love and promise. “We’re going to be a happy family from now on.”
Astor gurgled in response, and Arabella cooed, reaching out to grab my hair. I laughed and held them both close for a moment before handing them back to Amara.
Marlana wiped her eyes and straightened her posture. “It’s time,” she said gently, holding out her hand to me.
I took it, my heart racing with anticipation as she led me toward the door. Together, we walked down the corridor toward the Grand Hall, where Calvin was waiting for me, and where our new life together was about to begin.
My heart raced with anticipation as Marlana and I approached the Grand Hall. The soft murmur of conversation drifted through the grand double doors, but it wasn’t until we stepped inside that the sheer beauty of the place took my breath away.
The hall had been transformed. Twinkling fairy lights hung in graceful arcs from the ceiling, casting a soft, golden glow over everything. Garlands of white roses and ivy adorned the walls, and the scent of fresh flowers mingled with the faint, earthy aroma of the bonfire crackling at the center of the room. The flames flickered, casting dancing shadows that added to the ethereal atmosphere.
Rows of chairs were set up on either side of the hall, and they were already filled with familiar faces-members of the Obsidian Pack, some from Blue Bell, and a few others who had come to witness this special day. It was intimate yet grand, the perfect balance.
As my gaze swept over the crowd, my eyes landed on the entourage from Blue Bell. Alpha Orion and Luna Rmonica sat near the front, their presence as regal and commanding as ever. Rmonica’s round belly was impossible to miss, and she looked radiant as she waved at me with an excited grin. Standing beside her, Alpha Orion wore a proud expression, his gaze warm and fatherly as he nodded at me. Kyven and Thalia were not too far from them and they gave me a supportive smile as well.
A swell of gratitude rose in my chest. I had never imagined that I would find such kindness, such genuine support, from people outside my own pack. But Blue Bell had embraced me like family, and I knew how lucky I was to have them in my life.
Marlana gently squeezed my hand, pulling my attention back to her. She led me down the aisle, and as we moved closer to the front, my heart seemed to beat louder with each step.
And then I saw him.
Calvin.
He stood at the front of the hall, dressed in a perfectly tailored black tux that hugged his tall, powerful frame. His dark hair was neatly combed back, and his stormy green eyes locked onto mine the moment I stepped into view. The smile that spread across his face was so wide, so genuine, it made my knees go weak.
I could feel the love radiating from him, so strong it was almost overwhelming. This was the man who had once been my tormentor, the man who had caused me so much pain-and now, he was the love of my life, the father of my children, and my mate.
Marlana brought me to his side and placed my hand in his, her expression serious but full of warmth.
“Take care of her, Calvin,” she said, her voice soft but firm. “Make sure you keep her happy.”
Calvin’s grip on my hand tightened slightly, and he nodded solemnly. “I swear I will, Mother. I’ll make her the happiest woman in the world.”
Marlana gave him a small, approving smile before stepping back to join the others.
As soon as she was gone, Calvin leaned in, his lips brushing against my ear. “You’re so beautiful,” he whispered, his voice rough with emotion. “I don’t know how I’m supposed to survive the rest of this ceremony without dragging you off somewhere.”
I felt my cheeks heat up, and I shot him a look, though I couldn’t help the smile tugging at my lips.
“Behave,” I whispered back, my voice breathless.
He chuckled softly, his thumb brushing over the back of my hand in a soothing, almost absentminded gesture that sent little sparks of warmth racing up my arm.
Standing just a few feet away, I spotted Lorien. He was dressed in a striking red tux that matched his scarlet eyes and hair perfectly. His long, fiery braid rested against his shoulder, tied at the end with a neat red bow. He looked absolutely breathtaking, like some ethereal, otherworldly prince.
As if on cue, Lysaa entered the hall, her mother guiding her down the aisle with a proud expression. Lysaa was glowing-literally. Her skin seemed to shimmer in the soft light, and her brown hair cascaded down her back in perfect waves. She was dressed in a stunning silver gown that clung to her curves and glittered with every step she took.
My heart swelled with happiness as I watched her walk toward Lorien. She looked so confident, so radiant, and I knew she was exactly where she was meant to be.
Lysaa’s mother brought her to Lorien, placing her hand in his just as Marlana had done for me. Lorien’s eyes softened as he looked at her, his expression full of love and reverence.
Franklin, who was acting as the officiant, stepped forward with a warm smile. “Welcome, everyone. Today, we gather to witness the joining of not one, but two fated couples. This is a rare and beautiful occasion, and we are honored to be here to celebrate it.”
He gestured toward the bonfire at the center of the hall. The flames leapt higher as though in response, casting a golden glow over all of us.
“We will now begin the mating ceremony,” Franklin announced. “Calvin and Kamrynn, please step forward.”
I took a deep breath and squeezed Calvin’s hand as we moved toward the fire. My heart pounded in my chest, but it wasn’t from nerves. It was from excitement. From joy. This was it. This was the moment we had been waiting for.
