Elena’s POV.
No! There was no way I would let him do all those horrible things to Darius.
Not that he didn’t deserve it, he was on the wrong path, he deliberately ruined our plans and handed us over to Killian despite forcing me to leave with him and turn my back on Killian.
But he has done more for me, he has been the absolute blessing to me, I couldn’t imagine what would have happened to me if he hadn’t found me that night, he took me in even without knowing anything about me, he cared for me and made me see his pack as my home. He did everything to put a smile on my face. He might not be the one I love but he was dear to me.
Even if Darius has been going the wrong way these past weeks, he was worthy of my forgiveness and that of Killians.
He was in this mess in the first place because of me no matter the other reasons he might have for his actions.
Without stopping to care that I was barefooted, and in terrible pain, I ran after Killian.
Tears streamed down my cheeks as I ran behind Killian pleading for a second chance on behalf of Darius, I wasn’t concerned about my own punishment.
Killian paid deaf ears to my pleas and proceeded hastily towards the pack’s cell.
Nothing I said was enough to earn me a listening ear. He was determined to brutalize Darius to death.
I suddenly halted on my track as it struck me, Killian was this furious because he didn’t know the full story.
What if I unfold everything to him? I mean haven’t I hidden it for too long already? He deserved to know.
“Killian, there is something you need to know,” I blurted hoping to get a reaction from him but he continued his hasty steps towards the cell.
Maybe there’s nothing I could do at this point, Killian wasn’t ready to hear me out.
Tears clouded my eyes, and my knees became wobbly, I lost my balance and collapsed on the floor, ignoring the pain from the cut on my back
How could I ever live with the guilt of being the reason behind the death of a man who have shown me nothing but love and kindness, a man who went out of his way to put a smile on my face. We might not end up together but he really deserved to live. To find some other woman that he would love more than he ever loved me, and they would live happily ever after without the incredible amount of chaos that I brought to his life.
Surprisingly, I felt a presence beside me and snapped my head up only to see Killian beside me. “You are hurting yourself, Elena, you are not properly healed yet, go back to the clinic,” his voice was calm and laced with concern.
“Killian, please you have to listen to what I have to say, I beg you,”
“You mean one of your numerous lies?” He chuckled dryly.
“No lies Killian, I swear it,”
“What is this? You are trying to save your lover from me? That’s ridiculous because nothing you would ever say that’ll make me spare him, he’ll be dead in few minutes, you’re welcome to watch though,”
“Killian, Darius is operating under the orders of Aragorn!” I screamed out at the top of my voice.
He was determined to kill Darius without even knowing the real truth, His anger shouldn’t be upon Darius but on Aragorn who orchestrated the entire mission. It is he who should be dead.
“Aragorn? What did you just say?” He raised his grows at me.
“I’m sorry I kept this away from you all this while, if you could spare me few minutes of your time, I’ll explain everything,”
He stared at me blankly for few seconds without saying a word.
Just when I had almost given up my hopes, he suddenly cleared his throat. “You have less than five minutes to say whatever it is that you have to say,”
I couldn’t help but smile through my misery.
“There’s one more thing, you have to promise to set Darius free, promise me that you will spare his life,”
“You might want to start talking Elena, you have less than three minutes left,” he cut in sharply.
I exhaled a deep breath, squeezing my eyes shut for a moment before opening them back to stare deep into his eyes.
“You have to believe every word I say, Killian, not because you should, but because it’s the truth,” I began.
A low growl left his mouth indicating that I cut to the chase.
“Darius is a kind man, he initially never knew that I was your mate when he rescued me that night of the banishment when some rogue wolves attacked me, he saved me, and seeing that I had nowhere to go, he took me to his pack and I started living with him, he provided everything I needed even after finding out the condition that I was in then,”
“Condition?” He cut in worriedly.
“No, not some kind of injury or disease,” I chuckled dryly.
“I was with a child, we only found out few weeks into my stay at the pack,”
I watched as his eyes flew wide open, his eyeballs threatening to burst out if it’s socket.
“You were with a child? Wait, what?”
I swallowed the hard lump in my throat, it was time to break the news to him, the news that I had kept from him for the longest time, he deserved to know.
“Children actually, they are twins, the most beautiful pairs I have ever seen, they are yours Killian, our children, I found out days before the mating ceremony and I was going to break the news to you at the end of the night but sadly, things didn’t eventually go as planned,” I poured out with droplets of tears rushing down my cheeks.
“My babies, Our babies,” the room cracked with attention as Killian breathed out the words in the softest voice.
